I have loved the experience I have had volunteering with the Food Bank. We came and sorted food for senior boxes and it was really amazing to see all of the people we would be helping. It is such a caring organization!
I have volunteered multiple times at the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, and it has always been such a positive experience. The staff works together collectively to accomplish their mission, and they provide a family like atmosphere that is very unique and positive to work in. I always look forward to volunteering at the food bank, it's the best!
The Food Bank is a valued organization in the Shreveport community. They are dedicated to their mission of fighting hunger. I have seen the many people that benefit from the services the NWLA Food Bank provide and I can't imagine our community without their support.

The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is a wonderful organization that helps many families across a 7 parish region receive nutritious food. The staff is very friendly and they partner with 150 agencies across the region to help distribute food/meals to the community.
Years ago my youngest daughter wasnt working and it was a food pantry that was supported by their local Food Bank that help them with food. She was so greatful for what they provided and it kept them from going without. I could never forget the kindness of what that meant to my daughter and to me as her mother. The Food Bank does wonderful work bring in food and getting it to people just like my daughter in times when they need it most. My daughter is doing great and doesn't need a food pantry, however she still remembers when they helped and she give back as well.
NW La Food Bank does an outstanding job serving the most basic needs in our region. Thousands of men, women and children are nourished and ensured that they won’t go hungry.
Backpacks stuffed full of foods are also provided to school children that may otherwise go home to an empty pantry.
Thank you for doing such an incredible service to so many in our communities.
The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is saving our community hundreds-of-thousands and probably even millions of dollars annually as it reclaims food that would otherwise be discarded, and used to help those in need. They are very efficient and I am proud to be a supporter.
On Tuesday I joined several kind and friendly people at the food bank. They welcomed me with hugs and handshakes. I was a bit nervous but that only lasted until I had packed one box. As per my instructions I thoughtfully packed each box with cereal, oatmeal, juice, canned goods, rice, beans, peanut butter, protein bars and a few snack items. Every piece of real estate was to be used in three box. The ideal box would weigh in at 45 lbs. As each person packing these boxes chose specific items it was obvious they were thinking of the individual who would receive their box as a supplement to their monthly benefits. These boxes were headed to the home of a senior citizen. Everyone made quick work of their task at hand. Some hummed a quiet tune. Others chatted about the items going in their boxes. The first set of 36 boxes weighed 1400 lbs which was the target. As the morning went on the boxes became more difficult to fill to the preferred weight. Our next set of 36 boxes weighed around 1200 lbs. As you might guess our total continued to dwindle as we ran out of the good stuff also known as staples. The rice, beans, peanut butter, sugar, etc... only held out for a short while. Our last pallet full only weighed 1050 lbs. With heavy hearts we closed up shop for the day.
I can't wait for my next opportunity to volunteer at the food bank. I won't be going in as a stranger. I will be joining forces with others who don't want anyone going to bed hungry.
The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana does so much for this community. I really had no idea how much of an impact they had until I took the time to learn about all they do on a daily basis. I have so much respect and admiration for this organization!
The Food Bank is really making a difference in Northwest Louisiana. I can't tell you how many people know all the good works of the Food Bank -- the senior boxes, the pantries and the backpack program for the school kids. Every time I go to Empty Bowls I am reminded of how there are so many people who need food in our area. I am so glad the Food Bank is working to meet their needs!
As a high school and college student, I frequently volunteered with the food bank for community service hours. Scheduling a time for you or your group to volunteer is easy and it's a great way to give back to the community!
I have volunteered and donated to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana for many years and cannot say enough about the dedication of the staff. They are selfless and consistently give all they have for our community. The entire team is mission driven and work very hard so our community needs for food are met.
I love giving to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. For every $1 donated to them, they can turn it around to make up to 8 meals for those in need! Whoa! They also have lots of ways you can help so there is something for everyone!
I have volunteered with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana for 4 years. The organization does great work and provides a basic need for northwest Louisiana. So many people depend on the food bank for food assistance, especially seniors. Every time I volunteer I feel I am really helping someone less fortunate. It is very rewarding and gratifying.
I just recently started doing volunteer work with the foo bank delivering food boxes to seniors and its very rewarding. To help those who need the assistance in getting food and getting the smiles in getting the extra help. Its a good experience.
I have been voluntering with the food bank for a number of years. There are so many people in our area which are in need and every day we are able to help them. We not only support kids and seniors directly, but help all the food pantry's, too.
