Mission: The ACT/ON Society, Inc. was founded in 1989 to help people find jobs, and to help them work their way out of welfare. ACT/ON is a long-term approach to helping, using the principle that "giving a person a fish to eat will feed them for a day, but teaching them how to fish will feed them for the rest of their life". ACT/ON teaches women secretarial and job finding skills, operates a business clothing bank for women, teaches kids about careers, renovates old computers for poor children, and gives household furniture, appliances, and automobiles to the poor.
