Mission: The foundation will build platforms to preserve the history and advance the future of the livestock industry in the southwest through cattle raisers museum exhibits, education initiatives and programming; to provide scholarship opportunities to inspire young people to pursue careers in agriculture; and to capture oral histories of the people who define the industry.
Programs: To promote educational programs and preserve historic data on the livestock industry including maintaining a library of books and other documents relating to the livestock industry. The museum was closed from january 2017 until may 2017 for renovations, therfore we were only open for 6 months in 2017. From june 2017 to december 2017 we had over 200,674 visitors to the museum. Approximately 40,000 students on field trips visited during this time period.
the scholarship fund is designed to advance the future of the livestock industry by investing in young people who are pursuing careers in the agriculture field. Scholarships are awarded to individuals entering accredited universities in texas and oklahoma and pursuing degrees within the agriculture field. In 2017 there were 26 scholarships awarded.
cattle raisers relief fund to support relief efforts for ranch families affected by disasters like hurricane harvey and inevitable future natural disasters. The cattle raisers relief fund (crrf) is administered by the texas and southwestern cattle raisers foundation. In 2017, 32 ranches were awarded relief funds.
