Mission: The tampa general hospital foundation exclusively operates for the purpose of raising funds to support the research, education and service mission of tampa general hospital. Tampa general is a 1,011 bed, private, not-for-profit, safety net hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in west central florida serving a dozen counties with a population in excess of 4 million.
Programs: Robot installation - the foundation agreed to pay installation costs for an over $1 million robot in the inpatient pharmacy. This robot will increase efficiency, insure accuracy and provide improved drug delivery to patients while they are in the hospital setting.
cystic fibrosis research - tampa general foundation provides support to the cystic fibrosis program by managing funds received via grants for research studies or donations. The funds are held by the tampa general foundation and disbursed according to the grant expense reports each year. The purpose of this account is to support core personnel salaries, benefits, educational materials and travel expenses to the annual north american cystic fibrosis foundation conference.
transplant researchers - the years of transplant activity at tgh has and continues to amass an enormous amount of data about various treatment aspects, medication therapies, patient assessment and management. In order to collect and review this in a scholarly manner that leads to research, publications, and development of further critical questions about the management of this population, it is important to have research assistants to gather and input the data so that physicians can peruse this information appropriately and generate publications that will further bring recognition and additional research opportunities to the various transplant programs. The research assistants also work with the physicians on writing grants.
