This is the best bird sanctuary around! If you are in the Tampa, FL area this is a must see place. The birds are amazing and very well cared for and you can also tell that Magic the owner loves the birds and they love him.
I was able to have the opportunity to volunteer for magic with my daughter Victoria. We had a great time being able to see all the hard work goes into this bird sanctuary. Magic does an amazing job with the parrots you can tell they really love him! I can’t wait to go back again!
I been a volunteer at Zaksee Bird Sanctuary for a little over a month now, and I’m still amazed by how beautiful the sanctuary is! Magic truly cares and loves all of the birds there. He provides a safe, happy, and loving life for them. Best bird sanctuary!!!
I have volunteered for magic for about a month now. It has been the most amazing experience to watch him interact with all his birds and to be able to help him! This is the best bird sanctuary!!
Absolutely amazing nonprofit! I volunteered here with my school’s Pre-Vet Society and had such an incredible experience. The owner sincerely and deeply loves these birds and it is evident in the behavior and health of all the animals. I can say I walked away with a newfound understanding (and fondness) of birds. He also made sure to educate us on the crisis exotic birds are facing in the pet trade.
This sanctuary is truly the most perfect place for these birds. It is 100% obvious that the sanctuary owner loves and cares for each bird individually. He takes the time to give individualized care and love to each of the birds, down to knowing what each birds favorite snack is! I was amazed by how every time we went to a different enclosure the birds run up to him and show their affection. I went with a school group and absolutely loved learning about the birds and their homes.
Zaksee's Sanctuary is absolutely beautiful and the owner is constantly working to build new enclosures to care for as many birds as he can. He is very passionate about the well-being and happiness of the birds. Seeing him interact with the birds shows the special relationship he has with each and every one of the birds.
Its a great place to volunteer and get to learn about exotic birds.
Magic is great with the birds and also he is very knowledgeable about the nature of the birds.
I have visited the facility a few times now and I am amazed by how much time and care goes into his birds. They are amazing animals and are given such a wonderful home. With aviaries large enough to allow fully mature birds to fly free.
What a beautiful sanctuary. The owner and caretaker of this sanctuary is one in a million. The love, kindness, compassion, and nurturing of these birds is like none you ever seen. The layout of the sanctuary allows many of the birds to fly freely in very large spacious areas. Magic dedicates his entire life to caring for these birds. Each and every visit I notice tremendous strides being made to improve the land and living conditions.
My bird rocky has been living at Zaksee’s for over 4 years now. Rocky was a difficult bird, he bit people and pulled his feathers out due to unhappiness and could not be around other birds. But now when we visit him, he is happy and lives in a giant enclosure with three other birds and doesn’t pull out his feathers anymore. Majid is always encouraging us to drop by and see him whenever our schedules allow us and when we go we can really tell that every single bird in that sanctuary is individually loved and cared for by Majid. Rocky recently discovered that he can fly and when we last visited he came out of the enclosure and flew up on top of another enclosure but got stuck. Majid immediately ran to get him down, climbing up on the enclosure without even thinking of how he’d get down and he managed to get rocky down safe and sound. He really cares about these birds more than any other sanctuary or home we’ve seen (and we spend years looking). Majid is constantly improving on the place and building new enclosures, he has the water spouts in for the birds in the summer and the enclosures covered in the winter. Any time there is a hurricane or servers weather he makes sure every bird is indoors and safe. I am so thankful to have found Zaksee’s and I would recommend it highly to anyone!
I visited the Zaksee parrot sanctuary to film for a school project and Magic welcomed me and my friend with open arms! We had an excellent time and were able to meet many wonderful birds and get all the video I needed. He truly loves and cares for all the parrots at the sanctuary and does a wonderful job taking care of them and giving them a safe place to call home. If you are considering volunteering or sponsoring a bird I would say go for it - it's so 100% worth.
Zaksee is a wonderful little place. All the people there are extremely passionate about the birds and their well-being. The birds have plenty of space and are treated like they are people. A great place to donate to or volunteer at.
This place is awesome!!
I enjoy working with the birds :)
It was an absolute pleasure to meet Mr. Esmaeili and see the wonderful bird sanctuary. I have not known anyone else who has such a great and honorable passion for the rescue of birds. The habitat is fantastic, and I could see how happy, healthy, and glowing those birds are. It was amazing to see how the birds adoringly respond to Mr. Esmaeili and the love and care he selflessly provides them. Truly magnificent!
Over two years ago we made a very hard decision to bring our Cockatoo (Cirque) to Zaksee's as we no longer could keep him at our home in Virginia. To this day, we have not regretted that decision. Magic has taken such good care of Cirque from the very start. Before we brought Cirque to Zaksee's he had plucked almost all of the feathers on his chest and had started going after the ones on his legs. In less than a years time, while under the care of Magic, all of Cirque's feathers had grown back and we could not tell that they had ever been plucked out. Magic started Cirque in a large aviary with about a dozen other Cockatoos where there were as many different personalities as occupants. It had become evident that Cirque had made friends with another cockatoo (Casper) who has a very similar personality as our Cirque. Magic felt that Cirque needed to be moved out of the communal aviary into his own smaller aviary where he would be much better off and was able to bring his friend Casper with him. TO make this happen, Magic and I built the new aviary using a design that Magic has come up with to better house the larger parrots. SInce living in his new aviary, Cirque and Casper have grown into even better friends and appear to be very happy there. We visit Zaksee's whenever we are vacationing in Florida, which is 2 or 3 times a year for several weeks at a time. We love to help take care of all the parrots when we visit, as there is always lots to do each day providing water, food and loving on our feathered friends. Each time we visit we always see improvements that have been made to the sanctuary between landscaping, new enclosures, and many other things. WHen we visit, my wife loves to spend hours feeding the parrots, playing with them and talking with them. If we lived in Florida, we have said many times that we would volunteer at Zaksee's on a regular basis. We are so very glad that we found Zaksee's and that our Cirque is a resident of this wonderful sanctuary. We do what we can each month to financially support our Cirque and help support Casper as well. Many of the Parrots that have been left at Zaksee's do not have any sponsor/supporters as the prior owners are not known. We would encourage anyone who loves birds to support the "orphans" that need your help.
I love Zaksee Bird Sanctuary! I am a single man with 5 pet birds. I was worried about my birds and where they would go if anything were to happen to me. I was looking for a place where my birds could live out their lives and would be given the best possible care. I toured several bird sanctuaries in the Tampa area looking for such a place. I found it at Zaksee. Magic has done a wonderful job of creating an environment that is both natural and loving. Magic truly cares about every one of his birds. Zaksee is like walking into a natural jungle environment. There are banana trees, bamboo plants, large leafy trees, shrubs & bushes, a creek with running water, all tucked away in a hidden paradise. Magic has built large flight-cage enclosures for all the birds. He has macaws, cockatoos, eclectus, conures, cockatiels, african greys, and more. The natural jungle environment is at least 10 degrees cooler than the outside areas during the summer days due to the beautiful canopy formed by the trees (Florida has hot summers), and holds the heat for a much warmer nighttime in the winter. The birds are truly happy and healthy. I also toured the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary (FEBS). The Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a dump compared to Zaksee. I would never send my birds to FEBS. If you are looking for a place where your bird will be loved and cared-for, and given the freedom to enjoy a full life, Zaksee is the place.
Zaksee Florida Bird Sanctuary is a magnificent sanctuary for hundreds of birds. The caregiver of these birds, Magic, has years of experience working with birds. I have visited, and volunteered at Zaksee for many years, and have witnessed first-hand the care these birds receive from Magic. He works non-stop around the sanctuary (and many times by himself) to provide all the birds with shelter, food, clean water individualized attention, and more. It is obvious the birds love Magic. When Magic makes his rounds during feeding-time, each bird responds to him in the most endearing way. They talk to him, sing to him, and some respond to him in a playful manner. Caring for the birds at Zaksee is a big job and volunteers are always welcome. I could go on and on writing positive information about this sanctuary. I will conclude by saying that Zaksee is an excellent Sanctuary.
A 5+++ is not enough stars for this sanctuary . Zaksee sanctuary has been an amazing home for our bird Teko. Teko was my daughter's bird but as my daughter got older she spent more time with her friends and school activities and less time with Teko. It wasnt fair to Teko so very sadly we had to find another home for him. However, finding Zaksee Sanctuary was a blessing in disguise. Teko has found a bird "friend". They are inseparable. I believe he is much happier at Zaksee Sanctuary. Additionally, Teko has received wonderful care by, Magid who loves each bird dearly. It takes Magid over two hours to feed and give the birds fresh water and he does it twice a day; and all along talking, and giving each bird individual attention. Awesome sanctuary!!!
This place is a true bird sanctuary. It's so open with bamboo trees, banana trees, papaya trees and beautiful nature. These birds are so loved, fed and cared for. The owner is very knowledgeable on the different parrot species in his care. There are some great volunteers who also dedicate their time to care for the birds.
Zaksee is by far my favorite place to volunteer in the Tampa area. The owner shows tru passion for his birds and shows it through the care and beauty put into the sanctuary.
Zakaee’s is a one of a kind experience with a beautiful scenery. Magic is so nice and has a true passion for the birds he has. I have been here several times and each experience tops the last.
Perfect place to see multiple types of parrots and I really enjoyed working with the manager. He puts in a lot of work into caring for the birds and I he takes in as many birds as he can manage. I really believe this place should be visited more often by more people and everyone should volunteer because the parrots were great to work with.
The volunteers and owner deeply care about the well being of the birds! They work around the clock to provide the best care for them, many of them were orphaned and or abused and to see how they interact with the owner in such a loving say touched my heart. They desperately need donations especially after a hurricane destroyed many of the cages. They are a non-profit organization and need donations to care, feed, and love them. Great non-profit organization and hope good fortune for them!
While volunteering at this sanctuary, the guy in charge, Magic, was very helpful as well as generous as he ordered pizza and provided water for all the volunteers. His knowledge of the birds are second to none and he cares for them like they are his own kids. Truly a wonderful non profit.
They do a great job of making sure the birds are well taken care of the birds and it is a great place to volunteer if you like being outside and like being around animals
Magic, the owner of Zaksee’s Bird Sanctuary in Tampa is a very outgoing individual who you can tell cares about the birds he takes under his wing as well as those who visit to volunteer, he rewarded my group and I with pizza and refreshments. Throughout my volunteer experience, Magic taught us how he takes care of the birds, where they come from, and how to conserve the environment surrounding the sanctuary, at the end of our day, we learned so much about how sanctuaries work and why it is such a passion for him as he maintains the structural integrity of the sanctuary.
This place is great! I love spending time volunteering and working with the birds. It is run by a great guy named Magic. He is very good with the birds and always having them come out to let you see them. Definitely a well run place with an emphasis on taking care of these birds
Zaksee Bird Sanctuary is a great non-profit if you like working with birds. The work is for a great cause of helping birds with no home go to people who will truly care for them. The caretaker of Zaksee, Magic, is very nice to work with and has an amazing back story. If you want a place to volunteer I highly recommend Zaksee.
This is a bird sanctuary, owned by one very kindhearted man. The owner, Majid, otherwise known as Magic, is very knowledgeable on the care of the HUNDREDS of birds he has in sanctuary. The birds are taken care of extremely well, and he goes above and beyond to make sure they are fed, watered, and keep safe, healthy, and happy.
Myself and my son went to see Magic today in regards to a Cockatiel that was given to us 3 months ago. I watched the videos on YouTube, I went on the website, and I loved what I saw. When we got to Citrus Park and actually met Magic and he gave us a tour of his sanctuary, we were more impressed than ever. He has dedicated his life to these birds, and it was easy for me to decide to donate to his cause. I know I have found the perfect home for our Cockatiel to fly and to be around his Cockatiel family. I will be a regular monthly donor and will be donating my time as well. I am so happy for Marlin, our Cockatiel; he will be free to fly and have his own family he can chirp and play with.
My girlfriend and I visited several available sanctuary locations in Florida before ultimately choosing Zaksee. The people here know what they’re doing and it is very clear that the birds feel safe and loved. These people give a lot of time and attention to animals in need.
Every aviary and flight cage is hand built by Magic and his team of volunteers. Any parrot owner knows how expensive it is to keep up with a large bird, as the need for toys and hard shelled nuts to destroy is never ending. You can be sure any donations to this organization go directly to caring for the birds, and not to promote signs or tourism for a petting zoo that exploits these vulnerable animals.
Zaksee bird sanctuary is an amazing place where birds are not only cared for, but also given proper attention and consideration to ensure the best long term environment for their individual needs. Everyone is hand fed organically grown mangos and bananas everyday— in addition to having one on one time socializing and being handled.
Parrots are highly intelligent and strong creatures that require a great deal of time, patience, and care. The owner and a team of dedicated vet technicians and other volunteers provide this for 8-10 hours every day. Making any kind of donation helps support the cost of feeding and upkeep of these magnificent birds.
The absolute most eyeopening experience of my life was with Zaksee’s Bird Sanctuary. This is a place that demonstrates true altruism and feels strongly about the protection and preservation of beautiful wildlife. Magic, the good-spirited caretaker of the birds puts extensive effort into ensuring that his birds are well nourished and most importantly, HAPPY. His relationship with the birds is something you would see in a movie, it is so heartwarming and the way he talks about the birds you know that he lives his life to protect them. He refuses visitors so that the once abused birds can live stress-free, and he is firm in his belief that these birds are not just meant to be looked at by tourists, but geniunely loved and cared for around the clock. It was a pleasure to help him out, and I would be overjoyed to have the opportunity to lend him a much deserved helping hand again. Thank you Zaksee’s Bird Sanctuary, and Magic, for showing the world what it really means to care for wildlife without any personal gain.
Beautiful sanuaury filled with stunning birds off all shapes and sizes! Owner does majority of the work on his own dollar and time. If you’re in town please reach out to them!
I recommend that if you like birds and have some time weekly to volunteer, to dedicate time to Zaksee. Every bit of your time helps these parrots.
Over the numerous times I've visited and volunteered at Zaksee's, I've never stopped being amazed at how hands on Magic and the other volunteers are with the birds. Not only is this sanctuary overly informative, you never doubt the amount of love Magic and his staff of volunteers have for the birds. I can not believe how much time and dedication is given to the birds. Even with the amount of birds at the sanctuary, each and every bird has different needs and every time, I see that each bird is still treated on a case by case basis. It's a spectacular place that makes me see that there's still wonderful people willing to do whatever it takes to help animals in need. Totally recommend swinging by to see the magic for yourself or take an afternoon to snuggle some sweet-pea birds who love some cuddling.
I’ve been here numerous times and Magic truly cares about the birds. He dedicates so much time and effort to the sanctuary.
ZAKSEE is the BEST Bird Sanctuary I’ve ever been too. The birds are very well taken care of by Magic. He works very hard to make sure that all of the birds are taken care of.
Owner is great and it was a wonderful experience for volunteering
My high school son enjoys volunteering here. Magic loves all the birds and wants to give them the best care. As more birds come he also needs more help and I highly recommend volunteering here if you love birds! Some are even available for adoption (not for breeding purposes) so it is also a great place to find a bird friend!
There are not many organizations that take unwanted parrots. This place is amazing. The birds are loved and well taken care of. The man that runs this place knows and loves each bird. It's run completely on donations and volunteers. Magic, the owner, is a special kind of person to dedicate his life to running this place.
This is an amazing facility for unwanted exotic birds. I started volunteering there recently and I am so impressed with how well the birds are cared for.
Zaksee is located off the main roads, and has a tropical jungle like vibe with lots of bamboo, banana trees, etc. There is a small creek at the back of the sanctuary. Magic works hard and is very dedicated to the birds. He's feeds, waters and gives out treats to all the birds everyday.
I recently lost my my family member. I did not know of Zaksee Bird Sanctuary but was led to this location for a reason. I spent all morning with Magic feeding all his birds he cares for. He told me the story of each and every bird. Most cannot be adopted and are there to spend their life with him. Even the meanest of birds went to him with love. This is not something you can easily control for a show as some would claim. He is genuine, cares and loves everyone of them.
This man helped me in my grief and actually led me to a new family member to care and love for.
I believe in this man and his purpose God has chosen for him in his life. The Sanctuary is the real deal. I rode down the very dirt road that someone has claimed was so despicable. The road we follow to good does not always come paved with gold. It is what we find at the end that exceeds all value.
I enjoyed my time with Magic and plan on visiting him again. He needs support from the community to continue his following. Feeding and caring for all these birds does not come without a price. Please donate any thing you can to help him continue with his dream of supplying a loving home for the neglected and abused.
This Sanctuary is the real thing. I thank God for leading me to this man and his home.
Had a great experience bringing my students here! We got to learn about the pet industry, bonding with rescued and surrendered birds, and more. At the end of the day it warms your heart to know there is a place where these birds can be loved, a place that picks up the ethical slack that the breeders and traders leave behind.
The birds have tons of space in their enclosures and more importantly had tons of socialization with the other birds and with the man who cares for them. Magic was super knowledgeable about the birds and was great about answering our many random questions. My students especially loved holding the birds and talking to them, looking into their eyes and getting to share an experience with these creatures face-to-face without contributing to the injustices of the pet trade.
I can see where other reviewers might judge this place based on the surrounding land-use, but keep in mind the purpose of this sanctuary - to provide these birds with a safe and loving home to live out the rest of their days. Zaksees accomplishes that. Is it a little off-the-beaten path? Sure, but the birds hardly seems to mind ;)
I went to Zagsee today to check it out for a new home for my baby. U can really see how much he loves all of the birds. My bird does not like strangers at all he picked her up and she gave him kisses rht away I was so shocked. If u can plz donate anything at all plz do to keep this place going plus if u know anybody that could help him build more homes for all of the birds that need a home his name is magic for a reason. Bcuz he is magic around the birds. Plz donate so he can make this place even a bigger place for all of the birds to feel home.
My daughter and I decided to volunteer at this place because we truly love all animals. We went there expecting something completely different and were amazed to find such an awesome, open and inviting paradise. This is truly a hidden gem, the birds are so beautiful, the owner is friendly and knowledgeable. He really loves the place and has amazing plans for its future. Please stop and see this awesome place for yourself. It is truly worth it!
My wife and I are experienced bird handlers in FL, including parrots. We went to the Zaksee site today to inquire about volunteer opportunities and potentially financial support. We arrived unannounced because we like to see how things are when no one is expected. We drove on a road with broken down trailer parks and druggie-types walking along the rode. We then drove on a horrendous dirt road where horse stables were and the first sign we saw was a PAPER sign tacked onto a post that said "birds" with an arrow. We turned and our car barely made it through the mud and ruts to the gate of the place. It was locked. One gate was barely attached and all we could see from the gate was a huge dump of old materials, refuse, cages scattered everywhere. It looked like a homeless encampment. We could not see the habitats but they were close, since we heard the birds clearly.
The videos shown on the website must be very cleverly done, because from what we saw, the grounds and the area around it were awful. We have no interest in the place and question how it presents itself. The "top rated nonprofit in America" statement is apparently based on one of many ratings websites in which some individuals have written favorable reviews. But, we found nothing supported the statement inferring "best in America". That is laughable. Lots of begging for money, though. Cannot or will not tell people what they should do. Our impression is that they are woefully underfunded and/or poorly managed.
First of all we always tell everyone that Zaksee is not a Zoo or Petshop that you think you can walk into. Second of all it is amazing if and when we get a review like this, has no name with it. the people that Can not even understand bird , call themselves Bird handler. Zaksee is the best and always been the best, they never saw thousands of bamboo and banana and tropical jungle, that is why we don't let this people to ever come to Zaksee. That is why we keep our gate locked at all times to keep sick people like this out of our property and away from our beautiful parrots. We love love our parrots way more and we don't want everyone with no name to come and see them or touch them. Zaksee is not open to public and we only let true volunteer and members to get in and not just anyone. Thank you
Zaksee Bird Sanctuary truly embodies a sanctuary, in every sense of the word! The founder, Magic (Majid), has devoted himself to his lifelong passion: creating a safe haven for captive exotic birds having arrived at their forever home. Cockatoos, macaws, conures, and parrots, to name a few, are sheltered and nourished in a hidden oasis right in the heart of Tampa. There, love and wisdom are evident, tangible, and reciprocated which makes for an unforgettable experience! Sustaining such a refuge with safe and enriching accommodations can be a daunting task; therefore, community outreach and awareness are necessary to ensure the survival of an exemplary avian organization.
Zaksee's is an amazing bird sanctuary. The owner, Magic, truly cares about each and every one of the birds. Every cage is handmade and are kept clean. All of the birds are happy and healthy.
Zaksee bird sanctuary is an amazing place. Magic, the owner, takes wonderful care of all of his birds. This place is awesome to volunteer at.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Magic serves the community in a unique way, taking care of hundreds of birds that have been abandoned or have set residence by their owners. Thanks for the tour and all you do for these beautiful birds.
This sanctuary has a lot of potential. The man that runs the place is very dedicated and loves each and everyone of these birds. I went in to talk about the potential of doing an internship with him during the fall, he was very open to discussion and finding out what would be beneficial for me. He showed me around and taught me how to feed and water the birds safely since some of the birds are still in a learning process. I would definitely recommend volunteering and taking the time to help this place prosper.
Zaksee's Sanctuary is nothing short of amazing. the way Magic cares for these animals and their love for him is unlike anything I've ever seen. His name is more than appropriate because he has a magic tough with animals. when my family fell on hard times and we could no longer properly care for our parrot he didn't hesitate to take her in. our parrot is not a very social bird, she doesn't allow anyone to handle her other than my wife and myself but magic was able to pick her up immediately gave her kisses and snuggles and she loved it! in the many years we've had her I've never seen her allow a stranger to handle her without trying bite but she acted as if magic was an old friend. words cannot explain how grateful we are to have found such an amazing place in Zaksee's Sanctuary and we are eternally grateful for Magic accepting her into his care. it was so hard to have to leave part of our family in a strange place and we truly expected to leave in tears but after spending some time with magic and seeing how he truly loves and cares for these wonderful creatures all our worries subsided and we left with relief in knowing our bird was left in the best hands possible. THANK YOU MAGIC!
A very wonderful place where all the birds are well cared for and loved!
Zaksee Bird Sanctuary is a wonderful home for parrots big and small. Magic loves each bird and has an amazing!!! connection with each one. He has devoted his life to providing a home for hundreds of feathered babies. This is where I go to find peace and purpose. Please consider visiting and/or donating to this sanctuary. If you love birds, you will LOVE Zaksee!
I absolutely love this rescue! Magic is amazing! But as a volunteer i know first hand, help is needed. He is one man with a handfull of helpers. Donate by sponsoring a bird. Donate food. Donate time. Help rebuild a place a bird can live out the rest of their lives.
I'm a volunteer that's helped out for years and it has expanded my love and adoration for these birds. Magic is an incredible man who dedicates his all to their well being.
What a great place to go! Today we had such a fun. We brought some grapes, apples, and bananas for parrots. Magic loves birds so much. He calls each of them by name. He said: “They are my babies.” Many birds talk like humans, it is so funny. Magic, you are the best father for them. I have never seen a man who dedicates his life for birds. Those birds are lucky having you. Magic keep doing a great job! You found your passion in life!
such a fun experience!!! I will definitely be back and will happily spread the word about zaksees!!!
i had a great time helping out! you can tell this guy really loves what he does! so sweet!
Zaksees is a wonderful place!! Please donate and help found them! Volunteer here and absolutely love it. The owner has a deep connection with the birds that is beautiful please donate and keep them running!!
Had an amazing time volunteering! This guy really loves everything he does and the animals love him right back !
I spent a few days at Zaksee bird sanctuary this week I relocated my 2 parrots there. I did a lot of research when I came across Zaksee I know this was where my birds needed to be. I left Zaksee's in full confidence that I have left them in the best place. Magic is the bird whisperer. He has dedicated his life to give the birds forever homes. I'm so Thankful for this sanctuary. Thank you Magic!!!! Please visit, volunteer, donate.
I would advise that you NEVER bring birds here. Though Magic loves birds and can build wonderful sturdy avaries he is not in a position right now to care for the immense number of birds that he has. While my birds were there I constantly worried about them. He often complained to me that horrible owners didn't give money to him so he wouldn't give them access to their birds. He did not have a safety plan in place for the hurricane. The night of the hurricane when the wind got fowl, he rushed and placed all of the birds in a small container (crate) that is his home. I have been informed that up to 10 got away but he denies it. After the hurricane I tried to do a count and some appeared to be missing. He is unorganized, does not provide documents for discovery (a requirement for all 501c3 organizations) and does not offer contracts when birds are placed there. One thing I really dislike about his rescue is that he treats "homeless" birds differently from others. If the birds are drop offs they are placed in tiny cages in the back corner and never let out in the free roaming cages like most of the other birds are. They are rarely seen or played with. He was offered free housing for these birds who he appears to resent but refused to allow them to be placed there. I have learned alot from this experience. It has been a horrid experience. I took my own bird home during the hurricane and 2 others. He became hostile when I refused to keep my birds there. He wouldn't help me retrieve my bird so I had to make a legal complaint. Many of his cages are filthy and unhealthy. I have tried to get him help with repairs and aid, he refuses all outside help as he is incredibly paranoid about others "stealing" HIS birds. Most of his birds belong to owners who are in difficult situations and he is resentful at them for not giving him money. He at times tried to manipulate me emotionally for money saying he would euthanize many of the birds if people didn't give him more money. Whenever I asked questions he would bark, "Are you going To giVE ME 20,ooo dollars?" He also told me stories of raccoons killing birds because their outside habitats are not safe from other predators. That made me worry constantly. Magic has skills and compassion for birds but he does not have skills for running a non profit business and he does not have access to resources to do the job. I have heard him refuse donations in a rather vulgar tone. This is not a reputable rescue organization. My birds are now safe elsewhere.
If this person ever comes to Zaksee will be arrested and send to jail. We had to video tape her best friend very drunk and this women never had money to pay for her birds but always had money to get drunk. after 3 warning, we asked her never come back again and she tried to steal zaksee bird sanctuary but as soon as police call her it took just 30 min to return to Zaksee birds. going and try to steal bird to pay her drinking habit didn't work at Zaksee so she use different names to put review, looks like the same bird handler to me too. Can this person give the name of better sanctuary. I do have video to offer . lots of video from her drunk best friend. Everyone knows who we are and we we do. Love parrots like no one there.
