Alexius medical center hoffman estates (samc) is a 318-bed acute-care hospital in hoffman estates, illinois, that has provided outstanding healthcare to the residents of chicago's northwest suburbs for more than 30 years. Located at 1555 barrington road, samc is a full-service hospital with institutes dedicated to cancer, heart and vascular and neurosciences. The medical center has additional specialties in older adult, pediatrics, bariatric surgery, orthopedics and obstetrics. Amita health alexian brothers women & children's hospital hoffman estates (abwch) opened on samc's campus in april 2013. The 126-bed hospital specializes in obstetrics, advanced pediatric care and the treatment of premature infants in a level iii neonatal intensive care unit. Abwch also has a neonatal transport team that specializes in emergency transport of critically ill babies from outside hospitals. The team has the expertise and specialized equipment to care for critically ill newborns as they are transported by ambulance to abwch.
