Mission: To provide core literacy and values education to pre-teens and young adolescents in public and charter schools.
Programs: Spirit series -- a rigorous, three-week drama-based literacy & values intervention -- served 3,405 fourth to eighth grade students in southern california and new england during the 2016-17 academic year. Approximately 9,195 additional students experienced on-campus performances of one of the series' six inspiring one-act biographical plays, participating in an in-depth summary discussion that followed each performance. More than 90 classroom teachers also received 15 hours of professional development training as they supported series' classroom leaders who modeled the program's highly acclaimed teaching techniques to engage, empower and inspire under-served public school students. The organization's capacity was also increased by $102,558 of in-kind services.
