Mission: Shalva supports jewish women experiencing and healing from domestic abuse, through counseling, supportive services, and community education.
Programs: Shalva's clinical program offers a 24-hour help/crisis line; domestic violence information and referrals; safety planning; individual and group counseling; financial assistance; interest- free loans; legal support; case management and referrals. We tailor counseling and a myriad of supportive services for each woman's unique circumstances, whether it be creating a safety plan, increasing knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and its effect on self-worth and children, decreasing isolation, developing coping skills and communication strategies, promoting self-care, strengthening parenting skills, and/or increasing awareness of the inter-generational cycle of domestic violence.
community education and outreach increases awareness and knowledge of intimate partner abuse and also trains educators, rabbis, law enforcement personnel, and professionals in the legal, mental health, and health care fields.
