Senecorps custom-tailored my 2007 visit to Senegal I learned more about culture than is written in scholarly works because I listened and observed what was being shown to me. They gave me individual tours to the historic sites I requested, treated me like family, and made my research trip there more productive than I expected. They are skilled teachers of Senegals' multi-ethnic past and contemporary global influence.
I had the same experience as the other person who wrote a review before me... Except, I travelled all the way to Senegal to find out that the organization was not what it appeared to be.
I travel every year to a foreign country to volunteer. I know that when it all boils down to it, I'm not changing people, people are changing me. I have to say, Senecorps changed me, but not for the positive. was the worst experience I had volunteering and I have no qualms about sharing my experience so that others can be more aware about fraudulent companies like them. I left Senegal feeling betrayed and used.
Unfortunately, I was not pleased with Senecorps. It took me a while after I started sending the company e-mails for more information, but I eventually got into contact with a representative, who convinced me that I would be placed without any problem. The representative continued to answer my occasional questions until I was finished with my application and had submitted a deposit. Then, Senecorps simply dropped out of contact with me. Despite once getting a promise for a refund (after numerous e-mails and phone calls), Senecorps has not followed up. Nor have they responded to my follow-up e-mails and phone calls. I was originally very excited to volunteer with Senecorps, and I remain disappointed that I never received the opportunity.
