Scotia Dancers is a friendly, welcoming group that teaches basic and advanced Scottish country dancing (SCD), a dance form that is one of the predecessors to square dancing. When the music starts and you begin to move to the music, daily cares slip away and one feels reenergized. SCD exercises the mind as well as the body.

Scotia Dancers holds regular parties and participates in other Scorrish and Celtic events in New York City. It's a wonderful place to explore your Scottish roots, if you have them, but there is no need to have a Scottish background in order to enjoy the fun and fellowship as you dance to delightful, stirring music.

Scotia Dancers is part of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, an international organization with groups on all continents. Many of our dancers, myself included, have traveled far and wide with our dance shoes in our baggage. A quick check for a local dance group near our destination leads us to new friends who share our passion for music and dance.
