Mission: The purposes for which the corporation was organized are as follows: - to be organized and operated, at all times, exclusively for the benefit of, to perform the functions of, or carry out the purposes of the trustees of the university of pennsylvania (hereinafter "university of pennsylvania") their successors and assigns; - in particular, to operate as a supporting organization as defined in section 509(a)(3) of the internal revenue code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future united states internal revenue law and the regulations thereto to the university of pennsylvania for the purpose of promoting an understanding of the value of higher education in children who attend the west philadelphia public schools, and of motivating said children to seek scholarly interests and to pursue higher education. - to be operated, supervised or controlled by or in connection with the university of pennsylvania. - in general, subject to the prohibition and restrictions set forth hereina
Programs: Say yes to education is a privately sponsored program that is run by the graduate school of education at the university of pennsylvania. The say yes program is based on the belief that helping educationally disadvantaged students achieve their potential is a long-term proposition that requires providing sustained academic and other support to students from the early elementary grades. Note that the organization was dissolved effective 1/07/2014.
