I was excited to hire Jevs as an additional care provider for my Dad. However that turned very quickly to disappointment. When the 1st aid arrived she was on time and did a good job. She was scheduled to come out again but called out instead. Jevs was able to replace her but the aid was 45 minutes late. She required more guidance and help and was not very knowledgeable at her job. There was also a language barrier. I left a voice mail for the account manager Anthony, because no one answers the phone after 4pm. I was told the call should have been routed to another live person, but it was not. I notified Jevs that I did not wish to have her back. The very next day she showed up unscheduled and again late if she was actually scheduled. She was told that she was not scheduled and to go home. Again I called and received only voicemail. I left a message explaining how the aid showed up unscheduled. I also stated that I did not want to use this aid again. On the next scheduled date the very same aid shows up 30 minutes late. and was told to go home. Within 10 minutes my family received a very disturbing phone call making accusations to my brother. He the caller said he was from some company and that my brother should let the aid in, then proceeded to call him a disturbing name. Again I called Jevs and skipped Anthony the account manager because he is useless. I spoke to the woman I met at my fathers home. Her name is Jessica. Jessica was disturbed and upset as my family was about what happened. Needles to say I told her we will not be doing business with Jevs. overall it was a terrible experience.

I had the pleasure of participating in the JEVS Ash Internship program for college students. JEVS placed me at the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society's Philadelphia office, where I was able to learn first-hand about refugee resettlement in the U.S. This experience also allowed me to mentor younger HS students and to form wonderful bonds with other Jewish students in the Philadelphia area. Additionally, this internship experience helped to prepare me for a future job as a Jewish professional working in an non-profit political setting.

I am continually amazed by the consistency with which JEVS is able to touch and improve its clients' lives. Whether helping clients earn their GED's, get a job, providing services to disabled people others, the level of the staff's professionalism and caring is the best I've seen from any non-profit. I'm very proud to be associated with these folks.

I have served as a board member of JEVS for over thirty years. I am extremely proud of this affiliation. JEVS treats their clients with the utmost respect and dignity in a nurturing environment.

JEVS assists people from all walks of life. These include those individuals who have been marginalized by society due to mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, insufficient education, criminal history, the infirm and refugees seeking help in assimilation. There is literally no situation where JEVS does not open its doors with assistance and guidance for those in need.

JEVS clients come from all age groups, religious affiliations and race. No one is excluded. JEVS is an organization with far reaching influence and as such must remain a vital part of our society.

Following an association of 40+ years with JEVS, I am consistently reminded of the range of services, diverse clientele, and success stories that I have witnessed and read about through the years. The gamut of job training and placement, addiction services, home health care counseling and assistance have made a positive and significant impact on many individuals, their families as well as creating a dependable work force for employers and building self-confidence for those who have attained jobs.

The mission of JEVS is to respect the dignity of all persons by helping them contribute to the extent possible to their communities, families and themselves. As a former community public health nurse, and now an attorney who represents the catastrophically injured, I know how much it means for each and every person to believe in themselves and their worth. JEVS is committed to making this happen every day.

After volunteering for 5 years with the Career Strategies program of JEVS Human Services, I joined the board this year. The more I learn about JEVS, the more I am impressed with the breadth and quality of the programming. The culture is uniformly positive and professional. Creativity and effective use of resources go hand in hand. This photo shows a group of us who volunteered to enhance a residence that JEVS manages for adults with mental health needs. Others volunteer with Project WOW to prepare young people for interviews and job success; others have helped employees learn how to navigate the workplace with network and negotiation skills. JEVS is a treasured partner in the Philadelphia region, teaching skills at the Orleans Technical Institute, providing trained and reliable employees to local businesses, and helping people leaving jail or rehab to acclimate to a new life.

I am constantly impressed with JEVS' ability to apply entrepreneurial and business savvy with mission-driven nonprofit principles to compassionately deliver consistently excellent social services to a wide variety of people who need some assistance to live up to their full potential. From refugees to people with developmental disabilities, from high school school dropouts to older people who have lost jobs because of changes in the economy, and always irregardless of creed, color, sexual orientation, ability level, or any other identity that too often divides us from each other, JEVS opens the door to opportunity and participation.

I've known and admired JEVS for some 30 years. During that time I've seen it help tens of thousands of people throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area to improve their lives and those of their families through a multitude of innovative and professionally operated social service programs. People who needed help in acquiring skills to enter the workforce have been trained and placed in jobs providing living wages for their families. Many who hadn't finished high school received educational support and assistance to earn GED degrees or high school diplomas. Others who had lost their jobs have been retrained and counseled to find rewarding new careers. JEVS" Orleans Technical College has trained a multitude of men and women in a variety of building trades skills and helped them find meaningful employment. People with disabilities have been provided with support and opportunities to improve their lives and prospects. Thousands dealing with drug dependencies have been counseled and helped to become drug free to pursue their lives. JEVS' prison diversion program has helped hundreds of people facing prison sentences to receive counseling, education help, and career assistance to avoid incarceration and become productive citizens. These are only a small sampling of the many ways in which JEVS has been making hope happen every day for men, women, and young adults for more than seven decades.

JEVS is the finest Non Profit I have ever been associated with. The focus of their community involvement covers innumerable programs serving their clients needs. From Group homes to the Orleans Technical Institute JEVS offers an under served population help and hope. Their motto is "make hope happen" and they live that expression in their everyday community service. For example every year JEVS holds a luncheon event called "Strictly Business" which honors companies who work with people who have had prior struggles with physical and psychological barriers. JEVS also runs a number of programs for young people who have lost their way. One of those programs which I have been intimately involved with is called Project WOW. Project WOW works with young people who have dropped out of High School but want to get back to a productive life. The students who enroll in Project WOW learn basic building maintenance skills while earning their GED.
I am mentioning just a few of the many programs that are so important to the Philadelphia community . I have been on the JEVS Board for over twenty years and in that time I have seen the amazing results that emanate from the programs JEVS creates. It is my honor to be associated with JEVS and I hope you will consider them closely in your evaluation.

These people really cared and stayed with the problem until they got my family help. They found a quality person who came into my aunt's home every day to help her with activities of daily living. That freed up my cousin to be able to keep her job. Otherwise she would have had to quit to care for her mother.

Currently being a Board Member on JEVS the past 3 years I have never seen a non-profit run so efficiently and effectively. The executive staff is very professional and our board meetings are very thorough. The operation is run in a very conservative manner but achieveing so much and really looks to "Make Hope Happen". The reason why I enjoy and believe in this organization is that they help and train people so that they can learn to take care of themselves. They teach people to be independent and by doing so help their communities. The staff members and volunteers are very dedicated. I am proud to be part of this organization.

Family members have had excellent experiences with several JEVS' programs, including career strategies, in-home care takers, and summer jobs. Because of this, I was extremely happy when a board member invited me to join the board. The more I have learned about the quality and breadth of the organization, the more impressed I am about its compassion, professionalism, and business acumen, all rolled into a single organization! JEVS truly lives up to the goal of its tagline: "Making hope happen."

I have been invovled with JEVS as a Board Memeber and officer for over 40 years. I began as a practicum student, working at the Work Adjustment Center where in addition to learning the evaluation process, observing the then workshop program, I saw at once the determination and flexibility of the agency to meet the changing needs of the commyunity. Even in lean and uncertain times, the morale among staff and board remained high, and committment to the mission, - making hope happen - unchanging. As funding streams dried up, the agency has been able tio adapt and maintain its energ.y JEVS growth is attributable to the high caliber of staff and board that has continued since the agency began. This is an agency less concerned with prestige and social status than with helping those in need acquire dignity and productivity. It has been recognized deservedly for ethical and quality standrds it adheres to.

JEVS Human Services is the gold standard for human services organizations. Its tagline, "making hope happen," clearly describes the benefits clients receive. The amazing staff at JEVS is the complement to the top-tier services provided to those in need. Particularly today, when people are out of work, when government funding is shrinking, JEVS steps up and gives people the support they need for the independence they desire.

I have been on the Board of Trustees for several years. My reason for accepting this role was that i had seen so many wonderful things our various agencies have done with so many people within the community at large, without regard for race, creed or any other identifying factor. My first personal awareness came while visiting one of our group homes and I witnessed the care our clients were receiving. I felt that if I, or a family member were to need similiar assistance, this would be what i could only hope for. The clients were honored and respected as people by all the staff and one could see thaey were comfortable in their home. second, i have witnessed the work done at OTI with our students and the sccesses they've made for themseves after their training. They are now better able to provide for themselves and have the dignity one deserves. I could go on about the success I've seen in the community, yet I want to also mention how great the administrative team is to work with. I just always feel that they look at their work as a vocation, not just a job, the exude compassion for their clients and for the community as a whole. I am truly proud to be associated with JEVS.

JEVS Human Services is a remarkable organization. The breadth of services it provides to its clients is simply staggering. Over the past 7 years I have been involved with JEVS, I have witnessed this organization providing a wide array of services to clients in need. JEVS gave those clients "hope". Whether it was a mother struggling to get off of the welfare rolls and back into the workforce, a laid off worker seeking job training and new skills, elderly and disabled individuals receiving care in the home, an addict receiving treatment or a severely handicapped individual living in a loving group home environment with a caring staff, JEVS was there. Serving over 20,000 clients a year, JEVS' ability to provide outstanding services on all levels is second to none. During this difficult economic time when non-profits are struggling, JEVS has continued to thrive and provide essential servies to the most needy in the community. JEVS management is a group of incredibly talent professionals that has guided the organization magnificently. Their outstanding foresight and planning allows JEVS to continue providing essential services, to grow the number of clients served and meet its mission. The staff of nearly 1,000 employees, most of which are long-term employees, are the backbone of the organization. Their dedication to the organization and the clients they serve is what helps make JEVS great.

"Making Hope Happen" are words to live by if you are associated with JEVS. From stories of lost jobs, hardship, immigration, mental challenges, drug association, JEVS helps those who strive to turn their lives around and surrounds them with the most professional staff and team one could imagine. An atmosphere of warmth, dedication and honor exists no matter what facility or program. While maintaining its stability and business acumen, JEVS manages to keep a home-like atmosphere that is readily apparent. It was voted #10 of the top 50 Best large places to work in Pennsylvania - there's a reason for that.

JEVS is one of the few organizations where each employee truly believes in the mission. This organization changes lives on a daily basis. The emphasis for the board, the staff is based on a philosophy that there are no throw aways, that every person has value, every person has something to give, that self esteem is the first step toward self reliance. The management team that runs the organization on a daily basis is best described as "professional do-gooders". It's truly a priveledge to be take part in an organizaton like JEVS.

A fantastic organization at all levels, from the staff to the volunteers and board of directors. JEVS is a creative, cutting-edge organization dedicated to "making hope happen" throughout the community. The organization strives to first evaluate the many challenges and needs faced by our society(such as job skills training, independence for the aged, and many other other social service matters) and then designs and implements creative programatic solutions.

One of the best run, most organized organizations I have ever seen. This is a group who not only makes a difference to the lives of the people who it provides vocational training to but carries on the relationships with future employers and former students for a very long time. Additionally, they run small group homes for various disabilities, which provide a quality of life for the residents so far above any state run facility. Overall, after 5 years on the board I have yet to see anything at all which deserves a critical comment. As positive as this review sounds, believe me, it is toned down considerably.
