Programs: The national youth forum was a national conference that brought together approximately 100 young people from all over the gambia to discuss fgm and promote the abandonment of the practice, within a generation. The event took place on october 9-10, 2014 and served approximately 150 people.
the u. S. Community outreach program provides training of fgm survivors to become information advisors in their own communities. It also includes various workshops around the atlanta area to teach practicing communities about fgm and to work with front line professionals. In total, 43 survivors were trained in 2014. Wokrshops were held at 4 atlanta area colleges with a total number of approximately 200 students. Workshops were also held, for newly arrived refugees, on the issue of fgm and approxi
the booths campaign against fgm was held in 3 towns in the gambia. Information booths were stationed, on busy street corners, where staff and volunteers educated the community about fgm and its harmful effects. Staff and volunteers also distributed leaflets and conducted a perception survey. The booths campaign ran through out the month of january 2015, but began incurring expenses in december 2014. The booths campaign served approximately 3,800 people.
