I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering at PCOS Challenge and seeing the impact this organization has on all those affected my PCOS. Every decision in this organization is patient-centered and focused on raising awareness, educating, providing support, and research.
I worked as an intern at PCOS Challenge and it was one of my best experiences as of yet. Everyone who works and volunteers at PCOS Challenge are so kind, passionate and committed to PCOS awareness. This is one of the most hard-working organizations I have ever been a part of. What a blessing it is to be a part of this amazing family. PCOS Challenge is an incredible non-profit. As an early-career PCOS researcher, I was very intimidated to reach out to this organization for volunteer opportunities. However, every single person affiliated with PCOS Challenge was warm, welcoming, and patient as I learned the ropes. I have learned more than I can say and connected with brilliant scientists fighting this disease.

Women who deal with polycystic ovary syndrome typically learn about it in a healthcare setting. Most times, their doctors just give the diagnosis and send them on their way with a few options; lose weight, get on birth control or Metformin, a diabetes drug. PCOS Challenge is everything else for the recently diagnosed person. Medical, social, emotional and even financial advice to help treat the disorder all comes from this organization. It's truly a one stop shop. I have enjoyed working with PCOS Challenge for the past eight years.

This organization provides invaluable resources through all of its advocacy, informational, health, and patient-family support platforms! As a volunteer, I've worked with quite a few PCOS organizations. None compare to PCOS Challenge. Sasha is absolutely amazing as an Executive Director. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful community of cysters (and misters) who have created an advocacy platform that is literally changing the lives of persons with PCOS.
We lived in Memphis, when my husband and I started trying to conceive our second child about 5 years ago. Without any luck, I saw a fertility specialist in Memphis and my diagnosis was PCOS. With medication I eventually became pregnant, but it was an ectopic pregnancy. The baby had a heartbeat but was not in the right place. The emergency surgery took the baby and my left tube. Six months later, I was pregnant again, but this time I miscarried.
We were emotionally exhausted and decided to take a year off during which we moved to the Alabama Gulf Coast. At this point, my heart had decided on adoption, but my husband wanted to try one more time for a baby of our own. Third time’s a charm, right?
I went along with my husband eventhough I thought my mind was made up. Then we met with Dr. Colle. He made us feel comfortable and gave us hope that getting pregnant and successfully carrying a baby all the way was really possible. Together When we met with Dr. Colle in July we decided together that his Herbal Medication was the right choice and by August, I was PREGNANT!
This time our baby grew where she needed to be and her heart had started to beat. No words could ever describe the joy we felt to see her on the ultrasound for the first time.

Being connected and involved with PCOS Challenge has definitely increased my awareness and boldness for advocacy. It is encouraging to know that there is an organization fighting for this underserved, undrecongnized, and underdiagnosed condition that impacts so many women, families, and workplaces!
PCOS challenge is a wonderful organization advocating for the rights of many women diagnosed with PCOS. As a patient myself I learnt a lot about PCOS from this organization and have learnt to accept myself which I consider as a great progress personally. I also feel very welcome in this community which makes me feel grateful. PCOS CHALLENGE is an amazing organization doing incredible work on behalf of PCOS patients and PCOS healthcare providers and clinical researchers. Tiny but mighty, they are bringing together a PCOS community, increase clinical research & scientific understanding of PCOS, and ultimately work towards finding a cure for PCOS. I've participated in 3 Advocacy Day's hosted by PCOS Challenge- twice in Washington, DC and once virtually. The events are extremely well organized with lots of resources available for patients, providers, and people new to meeting with members of Congress. I've left these events educated about the latest PCOS research and data available and feeling empowered and motivated that a cure may be found in my lifetime.
PCOS CHALLENGE has been nothing but a heaven sent help to someone who happens to suffer from PCOS. Without them I would not have the confidence I have now, to embrace my syndrome and body. They made it possible for me to get laser on my face and chest and due to the pandemic, losing my job for a bit, having to dip into savings to help my family due to them losing their jobs and not being able to afford laser in the first place, PCOS CHALLENGE made it possible for me to get laser. Best nonprofit out there because they truly do care about the cause they’re fighting for and spreading awareness for.
I first experienced this wonderful organization way back in 2019 when I attended their Washington D.C. fundraising walk for PCOS. Little did I know that interaction with Sasha Ottey would change my life. Over the next few years, I was able to learn how to use my voice to advocate for PCOS as a patient to my doctor and my representatives. Sasha Ottey, William Patterson and the entire PCOS Challenge team have been influential in my growth as someone with PCOS and for my love of policy and advocacy.
I'm honored to volunteer with this organization and highly recommend others to do so. PCOS Challenge cares and everyone involved has their full heart in it.

Six years ago, PCOS Challenge helped me realize and appreciate the efforts of true advocacy. I have not only received support, but have also been able to provide it to others. Let me just say, there is nothing like that feeling of purpose! PCOS is challenging enough on it's own, but knowing PCOS Challenge and all of the exceptional volunteers and supporters are there, makes a huge difference! It is such a wonderful feeling to have found this organization!
PCOS Challenge has changed my life. I spent the first 6 years of my diagnosis looking for answers and looking for people that were like me. This organization provided patient advocates, social events, and support for me. I have now started working as a patient advocate and helping make a difference in others' lives. I truly believe this group will change the world.
I can't say enough about the PCOS Challenge. This is the first organization that I've been deeply involved with that has allowed me to grow from a shy patient to an outspoken PCOS advocate. I was always very private about my health challenges but working closely with the leadership and fellow advocates helped me to break the cycle of silence. I never thought I would sit in my local congressional representative's office to speak on behalf of patients in my state or open my own awareness store. In September 2012, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). For years, I struggled with the physical and emotional ups and downs of living with PCOS until I found the PCOS Challenge: The National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association. They helped me find my voice and a community who have been a great support system.
I probably would have given up a long time ago if I didn't find the PCOS Challenge.

I choose to continue to support PCOS Challenge, Inc. because it has been a life changing experience to witness how important this organization has been for thousands of women and girls with polycystic ovary syndrome as well as their supporters and healthcare providers. There is an immediate need for increased support for this cause, especially with PCOS being the most common hormone disorder and cause of infertility and leading to early diabetes and heart disease. I believe that more people and corporations should recognize the importance of supporting PCOS Challenge and their work that is improving the health and lives of so many women, girls and their families.

PCOS Challenge was my greatest resource as a newly diagnosed PCOS patient. I was so overwhelmed by the diagnosis and happened to stumble on their annual symposium. The support and information that event gave me absolutely changed my life. After that first event I was hooked! I’ve gone on to be a lead for a 5k to fundraise and drive awareness as well I’ve attended Advocacy Day in DC. This is the only PCOS organization that I trust to help patient by vetting resources, to lobby our legislature for research funding and recognition, organization of international grassroots efforts to bring together patients, doctors, health practitioners, researchers, and social influencers. It is entirely run by volunteers so every cent goes back into the community.

PCOS Challenge is an inspiration in the PCOS community and have been a support in ways that no other has been for those with PCOS. What they do for those suffering with PCOS is beyond what I've seen others do. They advocate for those with PCOS, share helpful information about PCOS (how to manage it, what it is, breaking down myths and more), but most of all I feel they help give us a voice. While we each have our unique story and can share PCOS Challenge allows our voices to be heard as a whole.
I will continue to support them and help raise funds and can't wait for the day there are events and walks throughout the US because that was one of the best experiences I've had. Participating in the symposium and walk allowed me to be surrounded by those who not only support the PCOS community, but to be surrounded by fellow PCOS Cysters.

The organization has created an amazing network of patient advocates who have harnessed their power to lobby Members of Congress and their staffs regarding the health challenges that they face.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2009 I had just moved to Atlanta and was really relieved at this point to just have a diagnosis after going so long with not knowing what was going on. Fast forward I was on facebook and saw this group PCOS Challenge here in the city and knew I needed to get involved and boy did it change my outlook and trajectory of my life as I started to get educated about all of the symptoms I was having and the best thing was I was no alone.... I started getting involved right way and Sasha Ottey the founder/executive director opened up her arms to welcome me into the Cyster sisterhood. Everything has been great from the 5k race to the symposium to the advocacy I was able to do on Capitol Hill. This is a non-profit that has their priorities in the right place and that starts with the clients/families affected by PCOS. It has been refreshing to be affiliated and volunteer with this organization that has done nothing but try to bring and awareness and support us as we try and get the word out about a disease that gets no air play. The work that PCOS Challenge has done for women like myself who have been diagnosed with PCOS is unmatched! The PCOS Challenge team has encouraged, uplifted, and supported myself and my fellow Cysters to advocate and continue to spread awareness! This was my second year attending the PCOS Advocacy Day in Washington, DC and each time is life changing! Without this organization thousands if not millions of women and girls may be lost.
After being diagnosed with PCOS in 2015 I was 55 pounds heavier and lost: I'd never heard of the disorder, didn't know anyone with it, and didn't know what next steps to take. After searching the web I came across PCOS Challenge and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of support, information, and the number of women and girls who were affected by this disorder.
I soon came across the PCOS Diva Confidence Grant on their webpage and applied right away! This grant provided $500 toward acne treatment or hair removal for women who suffer from hirsutism and acne due to PCOS. I was ecstatic to receive the award. The support I received from Sasha and Will along with the treatments catapulted my self-confidence. I began to feel so secure in my skin I spoke about the PCOS Diva Confidence Grant and my experience at the 2016 PCOS Challenge Symposium! This organization is essential and I'm not sure where I would be in my journey without it.
I always have lots of fun volunteering at PCOS Challenge events! PCOS is an important and underserved cause that urgently needs more attention. I’m happy that I can make a difference by supporting the critical work of PCOS Challenge.

PCOS Challenge, Inc. is a great nonprofit organization for information, support, and friendships. I recently volunteered and participated at the 2016 Symposium and Bolt for PCOS 5K which was truly special. PCOS Challenge hosted the event and did an outstanding job putting together a successful fundraising event. I highly recommend this organization.
When I was diagnosed with PCOS and quickly learned how many women also have this condition, I knew I had to learn more. I attended the PCOS Symposium hosted by PCOS Challenge in Philadelphia to learn more about what was going on with my body. When I reached out to PCOS Challenge to volunteer at the Symposium, I was welcomed with open arms and was thrilled to learn about how PCOS Challenge tackles PCOS awareness from all angles. PCOS Challenges provides awareness of the emotional, physical and psychological effects this syndrome has on a women's body by providing the PCOS Challenge confidence grant, as well as educational resources for women and their loved ones. It's comforting to have an organization who not only educates women but also provides a forum for the millions of women who have PCOS to openly discuss the complexities of this syndrome.

As a PCOS patient, I appreciate what PCOS Challenge is doing for increased awareness. I was not diagnosed properly with PCOS until I was 29. That is too long to not know what is going on in your body. And once I was diagnosed, I still didn't have knowledgable doctors treating me effictevly, because they weren't taught about PCOS and nutrition importance in med school . Eight years later I have found PCOS Challenge who has given me a network and support group. Through their efforts I've linked up with people who I can talk with about treatment options and just feel like I'm not alone. This organization has changed my life.

It's important to have people who understand you, advocating for you.
PCOS Challenge exists to provide comprehensive information, support, and advocacy for women and girls with polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS. Because the organization is comprised of cysters, medical professionals and staff who live through and/ or understands the disparities and obstacles that need to be overcome in the womens health community. This syndrome for this syndrome can be heard and recognized as a serious health initiative. It is their passion that inspires change, hope and movement towards better health for all women and girls with PCOS. I want to be part of that change and part of and organization that is at the forefront of making that change happen.. Kudos to PCOS Challenge for blazing the trail and delivering much needed support, advocacy and education for the syndrome and patients it serves.
PCOS Challenge, Inc. asked us (Omega Phi Alpha-Nu Chapter) to partner with them to hold the first ever PCOS Awareness Symposium Weekend 2016 at Georgia Tech.
