Mission: The sacramento unified educational foundation (suef) is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation set-up as the philanthropic fundraising auxiliary of the sacramento unified school district. The foundation supports the districts mission of teaching and learning services through the acquisition and management of gifts, grants and endowments. The sacramento unified education foundation board of directors supports the foundation in its efforts to secure and manage the donations from the community for the sacramento unified school district. Their leadership and whatever it takes commitment is essential in helping the district to eliminate the opportunity and academic achievement gap. The board meets quarterly to establish policy, develop goals and objectives, assist with long-range planning and monitor alumni association finances. Programs: The foundation makes donations to district high schools and provides scholarships to students for higher education. See schedule o. The sacramento unified education foundation (suef) continued to serve the needs of our students and district with the following 2016 accomplishments. As a part of our commitment to stem/steam, suef raised money for our high school robotics team to attend the first robotics national championship, and developed a partnership with the city of sacramento and philanthropic groups to fund first lego for four elementary schools. We raised money to support the district's expanded learning initiatives. We also supported the athletic department's golf tournament fundraiser and the social emotional learning fundraiser. The foundation organized and hosted our first annual teachers appreciation gala. The event brought the community together to recognize and celebrate the impact of teachers on our students. We celebrated and empowered 216 teachers and community members.
