Causes: Boy Scouts of America, Children & Youth

Mission: Our mission is to instill values in young people and prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetimes, to take leadership roles as adults, and to reach their full potential. Those values are based on character, citizenship, personal fitness, and are found in the Scout Oath and Law. We accomplish our mission in partnership with chartered organizations and chosen, well-trained leaders, as we:

Fourth and fifth-grade (or 10-year-old) boys are called Webelos Scouts (WE'll BE LOyal Scouts) and participate in more advanced activities that begin to prepare them to become Boy Scouts. Cub Scouting's emphasis is on quality program at the local level, where boys and families are involved.

Boy Scouting - A program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade.)

The Golden Empire Council teaches and strives to live the Scout oath and law which provides the principles of strong moral values base. Scouting teaches leadership skills to not just the many young people involved, but to the adult leadership as well. We see in communities which have a strong scouting activity that it helps communities thrive as well. Certainly the eagle scout projects serves as a model of strengthening the community.

I work with several non-profits and find that The Golden Emire Council BSA is one of the best run organizations with some of the most dedicated volunteers, Board members and staff.

Golden Empire Council - Boy Scouts of America aims to develop our youth to be outstanding citizens with the tools they need to live successful and productive lives while being active in their community. I have had the pleasure of being part of this great organization as both a youth, and as an adult. In the various roles, I have observed many youth doing amazing things; things that you hardly see from adults. I have watched youth who were trudging along in life become tremendous leaders. It is through the grit and tenacity of character (things that are developed through scouting) that these youth excel. Please consider supporting this organization in any way you can.

The Golden Empire Council- Boy Scouts of America aims to support character development, citizenship, physical fitness and leadership in today's youth. An investment of time, tangible goods, services and money ensures that our youth can continue to be supported in the scouting program. We know that scouting makes our youth GRITTIER and GRIT helps youth become more successful later in life. I don't know how many times I've seen youth transform before my eyes because of the scouting program. The youth think they are out having fun, camping, hiking, learning skills and techniques that help foster a sense of independence. While those who support the scouting program know that the youth are actually developing leadership, a sense of service, interpersonal skills and the ability to learn that achieving one's goals doesn't come without planning, learning from your mistakes and above all..... hard work! I don't know of any other youth development program like Scouting. Having sustained mentoring from well trained adults over a long period of time makes scouting unlike any other youth program.

Outstanding youth organization. Two summer camps in the high Sierra offer a tremendous opportunity for young people to experience the great outdoors and learn outdoor skills. Boating, shooting, conservation, etc. Leadership training is outstanding. Multiple opportunities for youth to engage in National Youth Leadership Training with adult mentors trained through parallel adult leadership courses. This organization offers outstanding opportunities for youth and adults alike.

Over the past 15 years, the Golden Empire Council delivered a fun program for my three boys--and thousands of other young men. They helped them develop a positive and strong character. My thanks to everyone involved in this organization.

I have served as a scoutmaster in the Golden Empire Council for 35 years. It has been an incredible ride with so many outstanding experiences from National and World Jamborees to camp outs in the Sierra Nevada. I have had the honor of presenting 150 Eagle Scouts with this outstanding achievement. Scouts has helped to shape the lives of thousands of youth and I am so happy to be part of this journey. I cannot think of a better organization that provides character development, leaderships, and citizenship opportunities

I've been involved with the council for many years, first as a young scouter and now as an adult leader of the council. Scouting has influenced me for the better and I am proud to have sons involved in scouting, and members of the council. I am confident that the council will continue to build young people of strong character.

The Golden Empire Council and Boy Scouts of America are the most outstanding youth development organization around. I have been involved in the program for half a century as a youth member, cubmaster, scoutmaster, parent and board member. The experiences provided by our program are next to none. As a Scoutmaster I have assisted over 150 young people achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Nothing is more rewarding than to see our youth grow in to productive and loyal citizens. The character development that our membership experience cannot be matched in today's society. I cannot say enough about our program as we go into another phase by promoting female membership. Go Scouting!

Outstanding training in servant leadership through its Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership program. The adult volunteers make sure all the young people have an opportunity to learn and practice leadership in their Scouting unit and in their community.

The organization is guided by an active volunteer board and managed by dedicated and experienced professionals. It is a solid IRC 501(c)(3) organization, dedicating all its resources to the development and welfare of young people.

Golden Empire Council has some amazing training opportunities for youth in the area. Three National Youth Leader Training courses were offered this past summer that not only helps prepare youth for positions back in their troops, but helps give them skills they can use in life.

I have been involved with the council for 7 years. It has been a great experience. I have had the opportunity to grow as a person and a Scouter, thanks in part to the programs available through the council.

Scouting is remarkable program for the youth of America. It provides the opportunity to develop many practical skills including leadership and moral values. Many of America's leaders have been in the Scouting program at some time in their lives...many becoming Eagle Scouts. With the acceptance of girls in the program these opportunities are now being shared by all youth!

The Boy Scouts of America is simply the best youth development program in the United States. The programs developed and supported by the Boy Scouts, which are Cub Scouting, Scouts, BSA, Venturing, Exploring and Sea Scouts, are proven to develop life skills in youth, both boys and girls. These programs build all important self esteem through personal achievement and recognition. All programs develop leadership through training and practice. Scouting supports physical health through active programs and uses the out of doors as a central part of all programs. Scouting also supports family togetherness as many activities take place in the home and with family.

The independent 501 3C that oversees the Scouting program in the Sacramento area is the Golden Empire Council. The council provides excellent resident camp facilities and holds very successful summer time day camps for the Cub Scout program.

I was a Cubmaster for 3 years and Scoutmaster for 5 and saw first hand the positive change in the youth in my units. They learned learned new skills and were recognized for it, they learned how to plan weekend events, how to cook and cleanup, how to pack and had fun doing it all.

Every day our community benefits from the youth and adults who were are are connected with Scouting.
