Care services and funding as deemed appropriate by the board of directors;the following are a few of reeha's program services:richmond eye & ear healthcare alliance offers low vision rehabilitation service to visually impaired, teaching patients to use their remaining vision more efficiently. In 2016, the low vision clinic served over 873 patients. Richmond eye & ear continues to provide this service despite traditionally high operating costs. Low vision services accounted for $181,483 in revenue and $366,974 in expenses. Richmond eye & ear healthcare alliance provides funds for richmond eye & ear foundation's operations and grant making activities. Financial support for the community totaled $380,000. This financial support provided community benefit services to over 10,000 patients in 2016, including:education and outreach vision and hearing - (a) operating support and funding for increased outreach activities for more than 2,500 print-disabled individuals, including radios and the reading of current printed (b)support of the parent-child advocate program for deaf and hard of hearing community counseling services, serving over 55 families, including 150 individuals (c) provide vision, hearing, and dental screenings, and fitness assessments to those with intellectual disabilities. (d) support free clinic for more than 6,800 uninsured individuals. Research grants - funds to support research studies by major teaching institutions in the areas of chronic rhinosinusitis & effects of postural changes on voice production. Public health and charity -the parent organization richmond eye & ear healthcare is an owner in stony point surgery center, which incurred $457,925 in cost of services and supplies provided to charity care patients in 2016. Richmond eye & ear healthcare alliance began operating their own pre-k hearing and vision screening program in october 2015. 4,076 children were screened in 2016. Almost 5,500 preschool children have had free vision and hearing screenings since the inception of the program. Reeha spent $167,000 on the program in 2016.
