Programs: Rebuilding together long beach (rtlb) was founded in 1992 with the following mission: "together we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities. " to do this, rtlb develops partnerships within the community to rebuild owner - occupied homes and non - profit facilities for low - income residents, particularly the elderly or those with disabilities, so they may live independently with dignity, in warmth and safety at no cost to the recipient(s). Our parent organization, rebuilding together, is the nation's leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize communities. Rebuilding together long beach is part of the rebuilding together network of approximately 150 affiliates that provide free rehabilitation and critical repairs to the homes of low - income, elderly and disabled americans. For the year ending 6/30/2017, the organization performed renovation/repair work on 24 qualifying sites. The organization mobilized over 333 volunteers to help with the renovation/repair work.
rtlb has entered into an agreement with the city of long beach community investment company in the amount of $172,000 for the purposes of providing health and safety related repairs to extremely low-income mobile homeowners in long beach, based in the very same principles and logic utilized in the single family homes we repair. These funds are being used primarily for materials and labor and are leveraged with "in-kind" support as well. Under this grant, rtlb was given an 18% allowance for general and administrative overhead as calculated by the sum of the value of materials and labor used, both purchased and donated.
the community stabilization program involves the purchase, rehabilitation, and re-sellling of ca residential real estate to low-moderate income home buyers. The program was established by rebuilding together long beach in compliance with, and in the furtherance of provisions of the american recovery and reinvestment act, which encourages banks to sell their foreclosed residential real estate at discounts to nonprofit organizations in order for these buyers to rehabilitate and resell the residences to low - moderate income buyers. The primary objective of the congressionaly mandated program is to enable low - moderate income buyers to purchase and move into previously foreclosed homes, resulting in an increase in home ownership as well as cleaner, safer, revitalized neighborhoods.
