On any given Thursday night, I know that Kristie at Making Biscuits won't be going to dinner or seeing a movie, but instead loading up her car with supplies and cages and litter boxes and water trays and folding tables, to get ready to show cats for adoption during the weekend. Earlier in the day, she probably went to SNP LA to get a TNR kitty fixed, and the day before that she was probably out humanely trapping a stray cat in someone's backyard. And that's IN ADDITION to her everyday duties--taking care of her own rescues, feeding them, cleaning up after them, giving meds, finding donors, answering emails, doing paperwork, talking to potential adopters, taking the time to give advice to strangers that she would meet when shopping for pet food, or doing cat laundry, or any of the dozens of errands that need to be done. It's dizzying. And when the weather gets really warm like this past summer in SoCal, Kristie would tend to every cat, making sure they're laying on cooling pads and getting enough water and attention. Even though I've volunteered at Making Biscuits and I talk to Kristie regularly (I’ve known her for more than 17 years), I lose track of what she does because there's so much.
You know the stereotypical mother/grandmother that always has the right supply in her purse, like a clean tissue or band-aid? Kristie has that, but with animal rescue stuff. She'll have emergency cat food, a humane trap, food and water bowls, cleaning supplies, litter, always at the ready, wherever she is, just in case she runs into a stray cat that needs it or someone that needs immediate help. Whatever the word is that's beyond tireless, that's Kristie, even though I know she does get tired, extremely tired. But it seems like there's always a cat or an owner that needs help, or even just someone to talk to about their dilemma, and Kristie is right there, with her overworked phone that's always getting texts and calls and emails, and her knowledge that's only surpassed by the best veterinarians around, and sometimes I think she knows even more than they do.
If I were to really tell you everything that she does, you wouldn't believe me. If I were to really tell you all that she's been through, you would wish you had all the money and resources in the world and give it to her. I wish that all the time, and I've heard it from others who have worked with her. If any of us gets a break in life, wins the lottery or something, there would be no hesitation. Give it to Making Biscuits, because Kristie and the cats deserve it.
In case you didn't already realize it, cats absolutely love her and gravitate toward her, and people admire and are in awe of her. My dad, who never thought twice about the Humane society and animal rights and rescue, when I mention the latest thing that Kristie has done to save yet another cat, he shakes his head in disbelief and amazement. "She doesn't let anything stop her from helping cats, does she?" he once asked. The answer is obvious.
I first met Kristy at Walmart passing out cat samples, I was telling her how my brother in law wouldn't get his cats fixed and had 10 kittens running around and the mothers . In our complex there were numerous kittens and sick cats. She came at night to set traps to get the kittens with permission of the management company who were going to catch and euthanize them. She found good homes for most of the kittens but since the we're black not all found homes and she fostered the others she got the moms spaded. One cat needed dental work she went without to get it done. She does home visits before she let's her cats get adopted and feeds them the best food. She is a awesome women that has a heart for cats. She has become like family

I met kristy a few years ago while demonstrating cat products at Wal-Mart. My brother in law had too many cats and the management company was threatening to collect and euthanize them. I explained the situation to kristy from making biscuits cat rescue. She came and rescued them, got them vaccinated and spayed and neutered. Some were adopted and some were not adoptable. She only feeds them the most natural foods and the healthiest for them. She has so much love for the cats and kittens, even when some would give up on a cat kristy won't she will go the extra mile and save it.even if it means staying up and bottle feeding, giving around the clock iv meds, going with out just to make sure they are cared for. She has become apart of our family.
I met Kristie at Unleashed. I was so impressed by her compassion for the cats that are in her care. I talked with her for awhile. She told me some of her experiences, and listened to some of mine as well. I could tell right away that she was completely invested in the live's of these beautiful cats. I could also tell that she was very concerned about the live's of other animals that she would help if she could. I have spoken with Kristie a few times since the day we met, and I am still as impressed with her today as I was then. I love the fact that she gives her all to make sure that her cats are cared for, and won't just give them to anyone. I am so grateful that there are people like Kristie out there. She truly cares for these cats who are in need of forever homes, and makes sure that when they are adopted they are going to a forever home. Thank you Kristie!!
After meeting Kristie I've seen that she has made a huge impact on rescuing cats and kittens. She taught so much stuff about cats that I didn't even know, and every time I have questions about a cat, if it's with food or health reason she always has the best solution! Just watching her take care of each cat makes me happy knowing that the cats she take care of are really happy and healthy. She does great work for prepping these cats to their forever home! GREAT JOB KRISTIE!!
So happy to have come across Kristie and her cat rescue. She brings her rescue to the store I work at, Unleashed by Petco on Spring Street. Making biscuits cat rescue has made such an amazing impact on the lives of these adorable cats and kittens. Kristie really has an amazing love for these cats and make sure that they are going to the most amazing loving homes. She takes her time to educate all that pass and question on how to care and love for cats. She takes these cats at their worst and makes them into their best. This world is completely a better place because of her and her rescue.
Kristie goes above and beyond for all of her cats, health, nutrition and making sure they have a wonderful temporary home. She has a giant heart when it comes to rescuing her cats and I know she would do more if she could. Each cat is cared for in their own way and receives the personal care they need. Kristie is also highly informed on cat behaviors and nutrition, she works hard in educating all that are involved and all future parents to her cats. All around one of the most generous and caring rescues out there!
We first met Kristie at the unleashed pet store. We were feeling helpless about our cat who was very ill and we didn't know what to do.... she gave us so many suggestions to try and so much helpful information! It helped Mitzie for the last year of her life! Kristie is very loving and caring of her cats! You can see it in the way she speaks of them and cares for them. We are very thankful to have met her!!!
Felines and humans alike are very fortunate that Making Biscuits exists. As an occasional volunteer, I've witnessed the sharing of knowledge on nutrition, health, safety and importance of spay and neuter.
Cats that had been left on the streets to kittens found in trash dumpsters have been nurtured into beautiful loving pets to be adopted. Making Biscuits is a blessing to the community.
I volunteered for this non-profit for a short amount of time and learned a lot about the issues surrounding cats and what steps to take towards solving these problems. I am thankful to have had the opportunity of learning and becoming aware of so much knowledge that I will take with me forever.
Can't speak highly enough of Making Biscuits and its principal human. The thoughtfulness with which Kristie approached the adoption process quickly assuaged any concerns I had about adopting cats from a stranger, which were initially many. Kristie makes every effort to stay abreast of the latest research in feline care and nutrition, and she earnestly shares her knowledge out of genuine regard for the wellbeing of her wards and their continuing welfare. The home visit, binder of research, generous adoption kit, and our continued contact have relieved me of any and all anxiety surrounding pet parenthood. I so appreciate knowing that I will always have a resource to turn to for aid or advice. Kristie is truly a hero.
My husband and I volunteered with Making Biscuits for the past two years. We helped with the daily chores of scooping, wiping, feeding, and changing water. We would also socialize with them while we were working and got to know most of the kitties. Our eyes were opened to the cat overpopulation issues all over Long Beach and the surrounding cities and how important Making Biscuits Cat Rescue is to help combat those issues. It is amazing the care she offers each cat from the best vet care, proper nutrition, and even dental cleanings. She takes in sick, abandoned cats and nurses them back to health. We also appreciate the help she offered when we took in a stray cat from our apartment complex. She took him to get him fixed and got him micro chipped. The microchip was a life saver a few months later when he ended up in the animal shelter and we were out of town. She picked him up for us and kept him until we got back. My husband and I really enjoyed helping her and getting to see firsthand how much she cares for and loves the cats she rescues. Whether you volunteer or adopt from Kristie, I'm sure that you will see why we can't imagine a better rescue than Making Biscuits Cat Rescue!
...and she can always use donations ;)
Making Biscuits Cat Rescue is amazing! I have had the pleasure of working with Kristie and her rescue for a few years now and I love everything about this rescue. Not only is Kristie extremely caring for her cats, she cares about all cats. Kristie shares her amazing knowledge with every pet parent that comes into our store. Thank you Making Biscuits for being such an outstanding rescue!
My wife and I adopted a cat from Making Biscuits Cat Rescue back in 2011 as a companion for the cat we had adopted a month earlier. Kristie was so caring and so helpful not only in picking out a wonderful cat for us, but also gave us advice on nutrition and vet care. She sent us home with an extensive adoption package with the cats vaccination records, locations of where we could buy healthy cat food, and some toys to get started with to keep the adorable kitten busy. The cat was so sweet and social that we ended up adopting two more of his siblings from Kristie! She even cat sit for us when we went out of town. Anytime we have a question on taking care of our cats, Kristie is quick to respond and gives us a lot of useful information and advice or even offers her help if she can. Kristie definitely goes the extra mile and is very knowledgeable in taking care of cats. That is why the cats we have are so sweet, social and healthy!
Adopting from Making Biscuits was one of the best experiences i've ever had with anything!!! Kristie really cares about her cats and i appreciate the amount of detail and attention she gave to my adoption process. At no point did she leave me in the dark when i had question about being the father to my new cats. i have seen many other rescues have adoptions, but none can match the caliber of what Kristie is doing. i adopted almost two years ago and she still makes the effort to send me an email to see if everything is still going alright. Thank you again Making Biscuits. the best cat rescuing non-profit known in existence.
I adopted my cat from Making Biscuits and it was the best thing I did. Kristy truly cares about animals and goes above and beyond to take care of them. She provides excellent advice to those who adopt and she is still a valuable resource for me with my cat, Casey. She is very dedicated and does an outstanding job.
Volunteering with Making Biscuits Cat Rescue was one of the most eye-opening and enjoyable experiences I have ever had. Kristie Brewer is a super hero! She is continuously absorbing information from credible sources that allows her to take the best possible care of her flock, as well as help others with their own furry families! As a fervent cat lover, I was always sure that my best intentions were good enough for my kitten charges. After meeting Kristie and volunteering with Making Biscuits, the wool was pulled from my eyes and I was able to learn so much about healthcare, socializing, and even a bit about humanity. Kristie's dedication to the feline community is unparalleled; she is truly a guardian for kitten-kind.
Last year I needed help re-homing Rascal, a cat belonging to my Grandma. She was very ill and would soon be unable to adequately care for Rascal. After what seemed like a perfect fit with a potential adopter fell apart less than 24 hrs after we dropped Rascal off at her new home, I was very concerned. I spent a good amount of time contacting several rescue organizations and local shelters. Most organizations I contacted were either not accepting any new cats, were unresponsive, or had strange/disturbing policies regarding how their adoption process works. Needless to say, this was very stressful and worrying for me.
I finally got in contact with Kristie at Making Biscuits and I am sure glad that I did. From the beginning she was responsive, clear about her policies (which were reasonable), and showed a lot of concern for the well-being of cats.
After coordinating a few weekend showings at a local pet store, Kristie offered to house Rascal indefinitely while she worked on finding a new home for her. There have been a few potential adopters that didn't work out over the past year or so, and Rascal is still living with Kristie and the other cats.
I am grateful for the time, effort, and genuine concern that Krisite has put in to helping Rascal. Not only for Rascal's sake, but for the sake of my family who was attempting to deal with two crises at once last year. All in all, this was about the best we could hope for for Rascal, and it's all thanks to Making Biscuits.
Kristy Brewer and Making Biscuits Cat Rescue is all heart. Kristy has dedicated her life to rescuing kitties in need to help them in their immediate situations, getting them fixed to address future issues with strays and overpopulation and with working tirelessly to find these kitties loving forever homes. Every kitty she rescues gets full veterinarian treatment (spay/neuter, shots, blood work, dentistry, the works!), is put on the best diets of their lives and is loved like they are the only one she is caring for. She is extremely knowledgeable about cats and their needs and health, so much so that the first day I met her at a cat adoption event at Unleased in Long Beach she was teaching me about ways I could improve the lives, diets and health of my own kitties at home! Her advice helped me to solve an issue I've had with my own kitties for several years now that even my vet couldn't figure out. I was so moved by the level of compassion, knowledge and dedication that she has for cats that I immediately knew I wanted to help and offered my volunteer services on the spot! I couldn't recommend a better organization to donate funds to, to support and to adopt from. Every kitty at Making Biscuits (and I've met every one!) is socialized, loving, healthy and ready to meet their new family today and every adoption will make room for Kristy to rescue more kitties in need. In my eyes there is no better cause and no better organization out there. I easily give Making Biscuits a 5 star rating and you will too when you get to know them!
Well kept animals.
Fair adoption prices.

Well excercised and socialised animals. Making Biscuits Cat rescue really has a heart. This rescue has saved the lives of many cats and kittens that have been abandoned, unwanted, and sick. Making biscuits has reformed these beautiful soles into loving and healthy adoptable pets. Kristie Brewer goes the extra distance to find good homes for all the cats she helps. I met Kristie when she brought her cats to the vet I where I worked. She is so dedicated to each and every little sole she saves. She spends ALL her time caring for them and trying to place them in loving homes as they all deserve. Kristi has made this rescue her passion and it shows in the love and care of her cats. If you want to help save a life, adopt from Making Biscuits Rescue and Kristie Brewer.
We all know that being involved in animal rescue takes a lot of work and a lot of time, however it also takes a lot of very creative thinking! Resources are thin, time is limited, more problems than solutions, etc. There's always those difficult situations where you don't know what to do! Kristie has that intelligent creative mind that always find that solution, no matter how much out of the box thinking it takes! If there's a will, there's a way, and Kristie will think of it! So much of her time and effort has been put into this rescue to make it a successs. Kristie is also so very knowledgable in veterinarian medicine and feline health, what a wealth of knowledge she has! What a differnce Making Biscuits Cat Rescue makes in saving lives! When looking for any pet, please adopt!
I met Kristy Brewer (the rescue queen!) at my local Unleashed pet store. The cats she had there for adoption were all so beautiful and healthy! I have a cat of my own and started telling Kristy of the serious eating issues my 14 year old kitty was having. The vet said it was IBD and put her on medicine that only helped for a week. Kristy recommended a grain free diet and I believe it saved my Macy's life. Kristy has devoted her life to keeping her cats in perfect health for adoption and will go to the ends of the earth to rescue any cat in need.
This is the most positive volunteer expierience I could have imagined. Kristie is incredibly informed about everything when it comes to cat health, nutrition and the adoption process. She empowers the adoptive parents of her kitties with all the knowledge they could need to be amazing parents to their cats and keeps in touch to assure her cats and healthy and happy. Overall amazing.
I met Kristie approximately 3 years ago at a local pet store. I work in the pet industry and travel to
multiple stores on a daily basis. Whenever I would see Kristie, I would pick her brain regarding "best
vets", best foods, etc. I was raised to seek out the best doctors and best foods and always found
myself impressed with her knowledge and level of care of the animals she cares for.
On one of my store visits where Kristie was doing adoptions, an older gentleman brought in a 3 to 4 week old feral kitten. I wasn't looking to adopt a new cat, but found myself volunteering to assume the project.
With Kristie's expert advice, both the kitten and I survived the experience well.
