My 21 year old daughter is really enjoying her time with the RMI adventure club. She goes four days a week and she is happy with the activities there. She loves the trips to Sea World and the movies, she likes going for walks in the neighborhood, playing bingo and the Friday dances. Even though my daughter can be difficult sometimes, the staff has been patient and considerate of her needs. I really appreciate that my daughter now has "friends" at day habilitation.
Our son has been living in an RMI group home now for nearly 11 years. It has not always been easy for either our son or the staff. He is not always easy to deal with. But the staff at the home have shown love, patience and kindness that have made our son seem to be happy and satisfied to be living there. We consider ourselves to be a most fortunate set of parents to have found RMI.
Our son has done remarkably well in the unique day hab environment provided by RMI Adventure Club. He has received the individualized attention he needed and has become happier and more communicative since going there. The programing is interesting and varied which is perfect for the young adult age group. We can't say enough positive things about the terrific program.
As part of its work, RMI manages group homes. One such home is Dove Manor where my sister, who was developmentally challenged, lived for many years. The home was well managed, safe and gave my sister the opportunity to be independent and to have many good friends. She considered Dove Manor to be her home. RMI facilitated work opportunities for many of the women who lived with my sister and arranged transportation appropriate to their skill level. We were very pleased with the this important experience for Jill.
The staff at RMI are wounderful and careing.they love what they do for for are children and and adults of all ages with special needs. They are the best.
I think they are well intentioned, but there was a severe lack of communication. We could not get in touch with people that we needed. We were new to the "special needs after school is over" community and we felt very lost. It was frustrating to not get just one person we needed on the phone unless we called their boss. Maybe she was overworked..I don't know, but if that is the case then they need more people to service the special needs community. I hope they get their communication portion of their services in order...we need more places to go to for services in the community. We met lovely people who loved our son..we just could never get in touch with anyone.
RMI goes above and beyond to help our individuals with disabilities. Their leadership program, Fiesta Especial is amazing and deserves to be promoted more.
My son is 44 years old. Most of his lifetime he has had some difficulty communicating. However he has always known what he likes and what is good for him. He likes RMI.
Case closed.
P. S. Of course he doesn't know everything about what's good for him, but he's ahead of the rest of us most of the time.
My son is 20 and has begun his adult life with RMI. He lives in one of their homes with wonderful caregivers and roommates. He also attends one of RMI's day programs. The staff there are just as loving and caring. RMI has really been an answer to prayer for us and our son.
I have been on the Board of RMI for several years and am constantly impressed with the passion and dedication of the staff. Anyone who attends an RMI event will be able to see for themselves the care and affection that the staff has for its clients. Whether it's organizing an City-wide party (Fiesta Especial) or assisting IDD clients with their day-to-day activities, RMI is all in! Come join us at any upcoming event or one of our day programs, to check out how RMI clients are thriving!
I have been volunteering with RMI for 2 years now and have really come to admire their purpose and what they do. I have seen first hand how grateful the adults and children are for the services RMI provides and now much they care about their well being. RMI continues to ensure they help all reach their individual maximum level of independence through the many programs, services and clubs they provide.
My daughter had such a positive experience participating in RMI's Fiesta Especial Royal Court leadership and life skills program. Their collaboration with Texas A&M San Antonio education department provided an excellent curriculum helping her campaign, make presentations on social media and television, meet and greet other Fiesta dignitaries and the SA community. Her confidence skyrocketed! This incredible experience was like no other we could have ever imagined! Thank you RMI for making this possible! I highly recommend this amazing program!

Thank you so much for your review. This is great information to help us be more aware of what processes are working and where we need to improve. We've gone to great lengths over the past several months to put into place tracking mechanisms that enable us to see an inquiry through from start to finish. Transitions can often be bumpy at times and we regret your experience with RMI was not a stellar one. We hope you'll give us another chance in the future if the opportunity arises. --Melanie Cawthon
