Mission: The mission of the racine art museum is to exhibit, collect, preserve, and educate in the contemporary visual arts.
Programs: Exhibitions - rama sponsors 7 blocks of fine art exhibitions annually in two museums which attract over 50,000 visitors. Rama represents artists in solo, group and juried exhibitions.
education - studio art classesram's wustum museum has one of the largest museum-based studio art programs in wisconsin. Since the museum opened in 1941, more than 40 affordable studio art courses in various media are offered each semester and during the summer for children and adults. Students of all ages and skill levels - beginning to advanced - learn side-by-side with instructors who are working artists, known locally and nationally for their talent. Costs vary depending upon the length of class and materials. Some classes require the purchase of additional supplies see class descriptions for more information. Current ram members receive a discount on classes. Partial scholarships are available to adults and children for 20% off class fees. Applications are available and some restrictions may apply. Gift certificates are also available for purchase. Educational outreachthanks to funding from local and national foundations, corporations, and individuals, ram conducts a considerable amount of public education offered free to children and families introducing techniques, media, and aesthetic concepts to its audiences. Ram on the road - provides the mobile expansion of museum-based outreach education by delivering free hands-on art projects, teachers, and supplies to children in racine county schools and other settings. Spark - cultural programming for people with memory loss - provides hands-on art activities for people with alzheimer's disease and their caregivers and incorporates other artistic activities such as movement/dance, storytelling, and music via established community partnerships. Through ram on the road, spark is also delivered to senior residences, assisted living facilities and adult day centers. Downtown outreach - offers free hands-on art experiences for children and families related to the exhibition(s) currently on display. These are held about 20 times per year during free admission days. Free tours for students - free docent-led tours for public and private schools in racine county, grades k-12, four days per week. Free fall family fun fest - a free halloween based hands-on art experience for children and families. Ram study guides -these 16-20 page guides, created in-house by ram staff focus on a single artist and include text, interviews, and color illustrations. They are free to paid guests, members, and school tour groups.
