I like that everyone who is a member has a mental illness and that we are in charge of making changes and decisions. All members make the Clubhouse run smooth.

The Clubhouse gives me a place to make new friends. If it wasn't for the Clubhouse I would probably be at home all day.

The Clubhouse is a friendly atmosphere, it makes me feel special everytime I walk in through the door. I enjoy attending to the different groups, but I mostly enjoy to bake and cook.

I have worked with several non-profit organizations over the years but have found that Racine Friendship Clubhouse allows members with mental illness to learn essential coping skills along with teaching new skills. The members work together with the leaders to learn, support, share, and maintain the clubhouse and their peers. It is amazing what a small amount of money or assistance can do at RFC. So many members have learned to cope with their illness and become independent members of the community. I will continue to support them in all they do.

I've been involved with the clubhouse for over five years through volunteer work and as a committee member to their fundraising events. At the clubhouse, you can see daily progress from adults with a mental illness, who are gaining social and economical skills. The work ordered day prepares them for a life outside of the clubhouse and helps build confidence and useful skills, while also gaining friends and mentors.

I would like to thank Lynelle, the board and other staff members for being so helpful in teaching me how to work in a nonprofit organization. I used to be a staff member of the Clubhouse. Most of all I would like to thank the MEMBERS for teaching me how to appreciate differences. You are born without a label, and you should never need to have one.

This place is like no other in town. This is a place where adults living with mental illness can be with their peers, others who understand what they experience. Membership is free and lunch is available at a low cost four days a week. Members can contribute to the day to day tasks of running the clubhouse. They can cook, clean, do office work, gardening, etc. There is a vocational coordinator who helps members find employment. But it's not all work. There are fun times of celebration too. Mostly, it's like a family, a welcoming place for people in our community who may not always be welcomed in other settings.

Racine Friendship Clubhouse is a gem in Racine, WI! I had worked as Program Director for the clubhouse for 2 years. I retired in 2014 and continue to volunteer there as much as I can. It's a very welcoming place. All of the members of the clubhouse know that they are not alone in their mental illness recovery. They are a big family that support one another.

They also have many programs available, including a vocational program. If any of the members would like to find a job, the Vocational Coordinator will assess their skill level and assist the members in applying for jobs and becoming job ready as well. Members can learn basic skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, ect. Information to other programs available in Racine county is also given to the members when they need help with that as well.

If you ever need a lift of your mood...just go visit...you'll know what I am talking about!
