Mission: Potomac community resources, inc. (pcr) is an award-winning nonprofit with a mission to encourage and support the full inclusion of persons with developmental differences into all aspects of community life. Pcr fulfills its mission by providing 35 innovative, therapeutic, community-based programs for montgomery county teens and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including those with the most profound disabilities and complex medical needs, and fostering a community of people with and without disabilities. Strategic collaborations with more than two dozen nonprofits, religious organizations, schools, civic organizations and clubs in our community are the foundation of our success. Pcr also helps start new grass-roots, community-based organizations with similar focus.
Programs: Pcr programs - pcr provides 35 innovative, therapeutic, community-based programs for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental differences. These programs include music, fitness and movement, respite care for individuals with significant and moderate care needs, discussion groups for men and women, communication skills, basketball, art, a social club, photography, and many special events throughout the year. Most pcr programs run on a weekly basis throughout two semesters each year.
outreach & replication - pcr assists other faith and community groups in creating programs for persons with developmental differences, resulting in the start-up of new programs in the following locations: chevy chase, md; northeast washington, dc; upper montgomery county, md; southern maryland; and prince george's county, md, including one for individuals and families whose first language is spanish.
information, resources & referrals - pcr provides family members and professionals with information and resource referrals via individual consultation, speakers, information sessions, and via the pcr website and social media.
