Mission: The parkinson's institute and clinical center brings together comprehensive care, basic research, and clinical research for parkinson's disease (pd). Our powerful model empowers people living with pd and their loved ones to better manage their disease, improve their quality of life, and impact groundbreaking research that will change the landscape of pd science and medicine.
Programs: Basic research - the parkinson's institute takes a multidisciplinary and interactive approach to understanding the natural history of parkinson's disease (pd) and related neurological disorders. Cause, cure, and prevention of pd are most effectively pursued through the coordinated efforts of investigators with different scientific background and expertise (molecular biology, pharmacology, and toxicology) and use of state-of-the-art experimental tools at the molecular, cellular, and whole organism levels.
clinical research - our collaborative team of epidemiologists, neurologists, scientists, and toxicologists are studying the many aspects of parkinson's disease (pd) and related movement disorders. Our research provides a solid scientific foundation for public policy actions to reduce or prevent significant numbers of future pd cases via protecting the public from exposure to chemicals that have been proven to increase the risk of contracting pd. Clinical investigations also include early detection strategies and methods for delaying or preventing the onset of pd and related movement disorders.
world-class care: at the parkinson's institute, you are a partner, not just a patient. You have a team of parkinson's disease (pd) experts who will work with you and your family to create a personalized care plan. Our partners are also expected to play an active and educated role in their care. Comprehensive care includes: state-of-the-art evaluation and treatment, physical therapy, speech therapy, dance, strength, and other exercise classes, and access to learning opportunities on subjects ranging from nutrition, to financial planning, and caregiver support. Our unique combination of resources enables and empowers the close interaction of clinicians, therapists, educators, researchers, and people living with pd and their loved ones.
program service four - outreach and educationin 2012 the parkinson's institute and clinical center provided 400 classes and unique learning opportunities for people living with parkinson's and their loved ones at no or very low cost.

This used to be a wonderful caring organization with excellent doctors and friendly supportive staff. All that changed last year when they got a new president. All the doctors have left, the new doctor is very unpleasant and uncaring. They used to spend 45 minutes or even longer with my mother to make sure that all her medicines were adjusted just right, and she was doing as well as possible. Now the new doctor spends 10 minutes! After 8 years we'll never go back again.
