Mission: To educate, empower and enable every individual who wishes to make a positive difference in the life of the underprivileged child Vibha is not just a regular not-for-profit organization; we proudly claim that because we are one of the few organizations that are completely led by extremely driven and passionate volunteers. We are a group of like-minded, and self-motivated individuals who believe that children are the promise of a better tomorrow. If children do not have access to their right to be educated and being healthy, then we as a society fail as a whole. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life who contribute their skills and efforts to develop social reform ideas that work at the grassroots level to create impactful results. Through fundraising events, campaigns, and backing from our patrons, we support projects in India and the USA, to bring sustainable transformation in the lives of children living in adverse conditions. In fulfilling the dreams of these children, we believe, we will achieve ours.

I have been volunteering for Vibha for more than 10 years. I started when my first son started volunteering when he was in middle school and later my second son also started volunteering for Vibha. Now my kids have graduated and are working in different places and I am continuing my volunteering for Vibha in different teams - Start and Finish, Cricket match, Parking Team, campaigning and donating funds.

The main reason for associating myself with Vibha is Vibha's Vision and the way Vibha helps underprivileged children in India by empowering and providing them quality education through different projects in different parts of India. At the same time helping local organizations in the US also. Major strength of Vibha is having an effective Project and Monitoring team in India.

Another thing for students and youth coming and volunteering for Vibha DreamMile each year is the organizers making their volunteering experience fun and making them feel they are doing it for a good cause.
DreamMile's yearly event also makes the community aware of the importance of one's fitness and provides them each year the opportunity to progress through different levels - 5K walk, 5K Run, 10K Run and Half Marathon.
I am looking forward to volunteering for Vibha in the coming years.

Vibha continues to work with social entrepreneurs to identify and execute solutions to address systemic issues related to underprivileged children. To date the organization has positively impacted the lives of 2million+ children. Being a fully volunteer driven organizational, the overheads are low - 87cents of each dollar raised is invested directly towards the projects on the ground.

Vibha and it's volunteers are amazing! There is so much dedication among all to spread the light of education and to raise funds to do so for children in India and US. It is the passion of a common goal of education, partnerships with other community organizations and support shared among its volunteers that makes Vibha an organization I would recommend volunteering with.

I was introduced to Vibha through one of the biggest Bay Area's fundraising programs, 'Striders,' which is a half / full marathon training program. It was and still is a fabulous program that made me an 'athlete' that I am today. The number of volunteers involved in making the program successful really was what made me come back again the following year and the year after.

I slowly got exposed to and began to understand the NPO, the cause, the financials, the action centers, the Board, the multiple fundraisers, activities, etc - which is proof to the fact that there is a lot of visibility into what happens and accountability at all levels.
I was and still am impressed by the number of selfless people involved in the cause to make things happen.
That is one reason why I started to volunteer. Volunteering gave me satisfaction of doing something beyond my self and people appreciated it. Thanks to the many friendships that I developed through volunteering for Vibha.
Overall I enjoy volunteering for Vibha and definitely hope to continue to do so.

My experience with Vibha has been fantastic. The Vibha volunteer team comprises from experts is multiple fields dispersed across the globe. This enables significant critical thinking towards the support that needs to be provided for enabling scalable, self-sustainable solutions that can create exponential impact in improving education systems for the underprivileged child. Vibha constantly seeks to work with the government to improve existing system through both internal and external impetus rather than build parallel systems from scratch.

As a volunteer I could see how Vibha contributed and connected end to end. This was during the devastating time when India was facing dangerous surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths as a result that impacted livelihoods and basic supplies for millions of families.
There was tremendous need for O2 concentrators in hard to reach and remote areas to save lives.
The requests gathered from volunteers were evaluated diligently, the end point where it will be used was checked and equipment delivered to the most needy in a very efficient and timely manner.
The heartfelt thank you messages from those who received were out pouring thanking Vibha. org and volunteers for addressing the critical need timely.
As a volunteer I am proud thankful and grateful to Vibha.org for this transparency and making a difference during the most critical time to save lives .

An amazing group of individuals, willing to spend personal time to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children. Every volunteer of Vibha truly believes that they can provide an opportunity to a child and make there dreams come true.

Every event we organize to raise funds is filled with stories of selfless service from the volunteers. Of course, there is a lot of fun and camaraderie.

The most important aspect of volunteering for Vibha is the transparency within the org, the strong leadership structure, and opportunity to lead for anyone willing to take on the leadership role.

I love helping and supporting kids in India. This Vibha organization gets to prove that caring for underprivileged kids is a great opportunity to learn and develop skills with teamwork building.

When I was young, I was so interested in learning about volunteering, kids getting involved together as a team to help uneducated kids especially in India. The history was so fascinating to keep a note of because as mature teen volunteers - it’s always good to be aware of the environment around the world. Not just for education rights but for food, home, and money rights. That is why moving forward, I will always see Vibha as my family organization to unite everyone together and raise awareness for kids who are losing their values.

It’s time to rise and be the best hard worker to support kids in India! Thanks.

I have volunteered with Vibha for several years and what is unique about it is that every one is a volunteer. So all have a day job do activities to raise funds or volunteer in their spare time.
As a volunteer for Vibha during their Dream Mile in Houston as well as in Bangalore, I loved the commitment shown by the volunteers. Everyone was humble and there was no hierarchy.
All were assigned roles and all lived up to it, whether it was to provide water and hydration to the runners or clean up the roads after the race was done, it was done with heart and commitment.
It was heartening to see all volunteers stay back after the last runner was gone and cleaned up the whole place to leave it in a condition that it was before the race started !!!!!

Surely not me, even though I have been associated with this organization for the last 12 years. Vibha’s Dream Mile X, while raising money for the great purpose of helping underprivileged children achieve their dream of a better future, also helped many like me get out of the house, and walk or run, thereby improving health outcomes. I have been a Vibha volunteer at the Atlanta action center since April 2017, honestly I can say that this is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Every volunteer at Vibha is committed to the cause from within, it is like they breathe and live the mission of Vibha at all times. The dedication and sincerity demonstrated at every monthly meeting, during months in advance of every major every fundraising event are simply out of the world, in my experience. All senior volunteers welcome the new volunteers with an open heart and open mind, give opportunities to pursue novel ideas/thoughts. Everyone takes their respective roles at Vibha seriously, meticulously performs them which is why the outcome is always outstanding.

Additionally, the Atlanta action center’s youth volunteers always go above and beyond in their service to the local chapters in Atlanta and in fundraising for our flagship event ‘The Dream Mile’. Overall, I feel a great sense of community and nurturing ambience at Vibha. Look forward to many more years of volunteering at this great organization where the grassroots level projects for child empowerment and education are carefully selected and funded. Finally, Vibha leadership is of special mention, they support and direct budding leaders.

There is so much transparency, as a volunteer I can visit any of the projects and also connect with the affected kids through technology or visits. It’s such a great
feeling to personally seethat the money that we raise through events /donate actually brings about change.

Transparency and Empowerment defines Vibha! It has been an awesome journey working with some extraordinary talented individuals to make a difference in the lives of children in need! Thank you Vibha for this opportunity.

Vibha is a non-profit org that helps in eradicating child labor and works towards the uplifting of the under privileged kids.
My family has been associated with Vibha for more than 7-8yrs and amazed with the level of commitment of the volunteers and the transparency that this org brings to the table.
Every yr I have seen Vibha grow as a family and the new stars it adds to its name.
Even if I’m not physically present to help a child in need, I feel a lot closer to them when I know that the Global Vibha Team is keeping a close watch on them.
I’m trying to imbibe the same respect I have for Vibha (and the meaning of charity, humanity, humility) in my children, so they understand how fortunate they are and what Grt work this org is doing.
I’m proud to be a ‘Vibhatian’ (if I can say so), and will be committed to the cause forever.

I started volunteering with Vibha in 2010. As a new year resolution, i researched multiple organizations before selecting Vibha. My first experience was attending the monthly meeting at a local action center (chapter). That experience of warmth, passion and purpose has stayed with me till date. This is a platform for anyone who wants to make a difference in their own way (donate talent, time, ideas, money) towards its mission. And whats unique is that it’s entirely volunteer run organization. I recommend folks interested in volunteering to take the 1st step by attending a local action center(chaoter) meeting or a fundraiser event and see it for themselves.

I am a big supporter of child education and girls’ empowerment and got to see first hand some of the projects they run through NGO’s during my visit to Mumbai. Love and support this organization and their mission.
My mother supports municipal schools in Mumbai as a volunteer and donor and has devoted 15 years to a cause very similar. Her children are now graduated and through education have achieved a powerful stance in society. Vibha does this on a massive scale and will have massive impact on the lives of thousands of children

They have highly committed and very motivated volunteers who keep the underprivileged children's cause at heart all the time. One very specific, recent example of how Vibha is creating an impact - recently they organized a conference in India where all the grass projects supported by Vibha came under one roof. Their dedication and sincerity towards the cause is amazing. One of the best things about Vibha is their low wxpense to revenue ratio of around 90-85%, which means 90 to 85 cents per dollar go to actual project on ground. This means the 10-15% of administrative cost. Vibha currently support around 50+ projects in India. It recently had the project conference in bangalur India where representative from all the project participated. Its was forum for these projects to learn from each others best practices.

I have been involved with Vibha for the past 3 years and it has been a learning and enriching experience for me. I joined Vibha immediately after graduating from school as I had spare time at my disposal. I was not sure of my commitment when I went for the first meeting. I was given an overview of all the projects handled by my action center at that meeting, and at the end of 2 hours I had signed up to look into a project that had come for review. The 2 months that followed reviewing the project not only gave me an insight about the project in hand, but also about how meticulously and seriously Vibha takes various aspects like mission, focus, sustainability, scalability and of course finances of a project in consideration. Every good and noble idea should be given a chance at the same time making sure that every penny of the donor is accounted for. I interacted with a dedicated and smart bunch of volunteers over this period, who always had innovative ideas for any project, and were knowledgeable about various issues faced by underprivileged children. After that I have been the project lead for two projects in India, AURED (focuses on children suffering from hearing disability) and Ariviyal Anandnam (provides learning aids for children from lower income groups to retain their interest in school). Every monitoring report and project review has re-affirmed my faith in the credibility and effectiveness of Vibha. The program coordinators from the grassroots organizations supported by Vibha have always lauded volunteers for their efforts in ensuring smooth functioning of the project. In the past couple of years, I took up a role as a co-lead for our annual fundraiser which exposed me to the fundraising side of Vibha. Volunteers have exhibited a great deal of professionalism and commitment in coming up with various fundraising programs and ideas, developing marketing materials, applying for grants, and maintaining good patron relations. All action centers work tirelessly for ensuring the success of a Vibha fundraiser event. It is truly motivational to be part of such an organization. I hope I can reach out and contribute more to grassroots organizations through Vibha in the future.

I have been a Vibha volunteer for more than a year now. Starting with event organization to raise funds, now I am also Project lead for the Swanirvar project. Swanirvar is a project based in West Bengal, which provides alternative education for rural children as well as includes intervention in government schools, to encourage quality education thus reducing dropouts rates. With so many non-profits catering to similar causes, it was difficult to decide which one to be a part of. In case of Vibha, it is the dedication of all volunteers, transparency in the handling of funds, open-ness to listen to new ideas is what makes it very attractive to me. As a Project lead, when I attend the calls to discuss individual project status, I realize how committed everyone is to provide a better future to the not-so-fortunate children. When I talk to the beneficiary project head, he is very grateful for the efforts & funds Vibha provides. Whether it is Katrina relief efforts in the US or Pakistan earthquakes, in addition to its main goal of providing under privileged children with the basic needs of life. Vibha also helps single mothers become independent and support themselves as well as their dependents. Last but not the least, Vibha has the best leaders and volunteers I have come across.. I felt inspired to give in my best when I saw Rajesh Haridasan (Bay area) and Raina Bijlani (Bay Area) work so hard to bring about a +ve change in the lives of the beautiful children in India who need us and our help.

Their events are run efficiently and with great success each time, which shows that they know what they are doing. It's been great teaming up with them for events, and we hope to continue to do so in the future.

I have been a volunteer for Vibha for about a year now...despite busy schedules and personal demands , this is one of the very few places that I have seen people from different walks of life coming together to serve a common purpose of giving every child an opportunity. It is very heartening to see the impact of our work reaching underprivileged children when they need it the most and the fact that the organization is entirely volunteer driven is even more inspiring.

I have been a volunteer for Vibha for 6 years. I have been involved in most aspects of the organization, from raising funds to selecting grantee organizations. I have seen first hand the impact that these grantee organizations have had on underprivileged children-from decreasing rates of child marriage in villages in Maharashtra to increasing the quality of public education in Tamil Nadu. Vibha is a volunteer-driven organization with its attendant strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include a committed volunteer group and low overhead costs. On the flip side this means that Vibha is reliant on a volunteer group who are juggling a busy professional career with their volunteer work. Vibha has a bright future ahead of it. Recent initiatives such as the conference for grantee organizations point to a more active role for Vibha in the quest to improve the lives of underprivileged children.

I got to know about Vibha early last year (2008) and attended one of its monthly meetings in Atlanta. The main focus of the meeting that month was to help organize a fund-raising event to raise money for the many child-related developmental projects Vibha has undertaken all over India. Volunteers chipped in for various activities and we all got started. I liked the people volunteering for the organization because they all believed in the underlying cause - to improve the lives of millions of under-privileged children in India. Later I got involved in various projects related monitoring calls every week and I am currently coordinating one of the projects being financed in India (Andhra Pradesh). The program helps induct child laborers from small-scale industries in the area to rehabilitation centers and to mainstream them in government schools. Imbetween teaching and my own research, I try and work with Vibha and spread the word as much as I can. I believe in Vibha's efforts and especially the efforts of the people who make Vibha what it is today. Good luck to you guys!!! ---- Dr.Shama Perveen

Their drive, passion, and love for doing something good mixed with their skills make Vibha volunteers successful in every event...which, in turn, translates into supporting so many more right projects that need funding...which basically translates into a brighter and better future for millions of children! At Vibha, we remind ourselves every day that... "Not every child is fortunate, some need us!"

I have been a part of this organization since April 2006. What attracted me towards it is the fact that it is a grass roots organization which believes in high-touch and the belief that people want to volunteer their time because they feel the need to make a difference in this world. The unique feature of this organization is that it is almost 99% volunteer driven and has only 2 WW employees. The organization believes in rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty rather than just donate money. The other aspect that is a core part of the organization is the process followed to "Select and Monitor" the progress of a project that they fund. The organization believes in strong sharing amongst the various teams and projects so that ones mistakes can be learned from and avoided in other areas.

The most appealing factor of Vibha for me is that this organization functions almost completely through volunteers putting in time out of their busy schedule. I also like their process of picking out projects to support back in India, and most definitely the outcomes of these projects. I feel that I make a difference in someone else’s life by simply donating a few dollars and some time. Volunteering for Vibha has been one of the most rewarding acts I have ever been involved with.

Education in my opinion is the most vital thing that can help any child. It provides the child with an opportunity to understand the world and stand on his own feet, enabling that has no equal. That Vibha helps promote this was the reason I decided to do my part in helping the organization.

Underprivileged kids….the cause…the challenge…the satisfaction…the friends we made…or just plain old simple conscience? Reasons aplenty, I thought I’ll go down the path of soul searching and put down on paper why I volunteer for Vibha. About 4 years ago, I moved to the Bay Area and at that time my wife was (and still is) an active volunteer for this organization I knew nothing about. She called it Vibha and couldn’t stop talking about the organization, its people, their passion to make a difference and all this while having fun. I heard the names over and over again – about the folks who were in the trenches, discussing passionately on the best way to make the most impact in a stranger’s life. I proceeded and met some of these folks, and to my absolute wonder, they were normal, down to earth, young, energetic people such as myself; the only difference being they had the greater good in mind and I didn’t. Few months passed and I had made friends with most of these gems in today’s society long before the thought of volunteering came to mind. And one day, I took the plunge…to volunteer for the 2007 Dream Mile. The energy was electrifying, the patrons ecstatic, volunteers doing tasks that I would have never thought I would do one day for a cause; moving tables, putting up signs, setting up booths, designing décor, the list was endless. At the end of the day, I looked around, and I was surrounded by over 50 volunteers all in various levels of exhaustion from the prior 2 grueling days but every…every volunteer had a smile on his or her face and the look of immense satisfaction from being a part of something that was beyond what the eye could see. The seed had been sown… 3 months later I volunteered for the Vibha Dandia in 2007 as a volunteer and was much more involved this time and was beginning to understand the bigger picture of what each of these individuals were enabling; It was a great event and we successfully supported over 1000 kids from the proceeds of that event; 1000 kids we will never know and never see in our lives. I later came to know that some of the event leads was going through some personal challenges and professional challenges at the same time when they was organizing the event. And to be a part of something that supported 1000 kids, knowing that beyond their personal/professional challenges, someone was able to spear head an event with such excellence, keeping in mind what he or she was achieving, I decided at that moment, I will volunteer for Vibha. Over the last 2 years, I have grown as an individual both spiritually and mentally because of this cause. I look back and see what I have achieved for this great organization and helped enable over 1500 kids with a future by leading the Dandia in 2008. I now function as one of the Action center coordinators for the Bay Area. And the journey has just begun… I don’t know what drives us to do what we do on a daily basis. Be it volunteering for Vibha or anything else. But as you read this blog, and are thinking “I don’t have the time”, you can still make a difference! It’s usually one person, one act of generosity, one act of selflessness that touches or moves us to join the movement. The call to action for all of us might come in many disguises, but come it will! It is up to us to open our eyes, recognize them and act on it… Volunteer with Vibha and you will understand that a few of us CAN make a DIFFERENCE...

I had this nonchalant attitude towards social service in general and didn't care much about social inequality. I thought I was also part of the same fabric and there was nothing I could do about it. I started volunteering with Vibha because I was required to fulfill community service hours. My aim was to get a certificate for the required hours.

I volunteered for Super 16 which brought me in close contact with other volunteers and organizers. Even with my indifference towards the cause I was mighty impressed by the dedication of the volunteers. The execution of the event was no less than any professionally organized event if not better. That convinced me to find out how Vibha operates. I read all the details on the website and asked a ton of questions to convince myself that the efforts were going in the right direction.

During this process, I also realized that I don't have to have a whole lot to give some. For some, social inequality is not a choice they made and I as a relatively fortunate member of the society have a moral responsibility to do something about it. I decided to be an active volunteer with Vibha and have been since. My goal is to make Vibha proud to have me as a volunteer as much as I am proud to be a part of it.

"Vibha" is "My organization" ! -- No, I didn't start it, neither do i plan the projects in it. I just play a very small role in it , yet 'feel big'. I stopped by at one of Vibha's meetings with no big plans or aims and didn't even realize when i became part of it. Didn't know who these guys were but knew there was team work towards one great purpose .These are everyday people with no 'chakra' behind their head, yet spinning the wheel of fortune, in those little kids lives! Any little idea presented was never ignored, and there was so much support in implementing it .. It is so obvious that there is one clear goal there - "Help those kids!" -- how?? with those ideas they are working on ... With those that "U" bring in!! hence the quest for the new "U" continues still ... since the goal has not been achieved yet !! but with every new "U", they see a ray of hope in atleast one kid's eyes, if not more! -one step towards the goal! Walking together - striving towards the goal!.. Just got to be part of it to see the inner beauty in 'yourself'!! Thank you to Sreeni Baddam for introducing me !

This is what UNICEF reported: India, by one count, has 18 million* street children and over 22 million* child laborers. Nearly 20%** of the children 6-14 years old have no access to primary education. Less than 45%** receive the immunization required to protect them from deadly illnesses. Half the children do not get enough food everyday and are chronically or acutely undernourished. Is this really how your message should read? Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see. And we ought to work towards their safe and healthy future. Vibha, does just that. Every action center,in US or India, is completely run by a group of motivated and dedicated volunteers who want to make a positive difference in the life of the underprivileged children. Everyone volunteering for Vibha strives to do their best to help children in any which way possible... to help them get their true right to education, health and opportunity. As a volunteer, I feel satisfied to be able to contribute in any way possible... may it be donating or raising funds through organizing events.... because I know that for every dollar that we raise,90cents go towards the well-being of the children. This non-profit organization is all about children. VIBHA organization is the hallmark of change, growth, perserverance and determination in meeting life's challenges for young children. Material donations by this organization touches human lives that cannot be measured in fiscal terms. I personally have seen how projects are funded and supports families, children, women who may not get the opportunity otherwise to succeed in life and make positive contributions to society. A recent example was the dream mile race event which garnered thousands of dollars to help the underpriveledged realize their potential. This organization also teams with the local government housing agency to provide stability and a sense of purpose for families who may have been displaced by social forces beyond their control. The organization has strong core of volunteers who act as catalysts to realize the mission statement of VIBHA which is helping children aspire to their best given the support and drive. I've been working with Vibha (Washington DC chapter) for over a year now. It has been a very positive experience and I've learnt a great deal about how non-profits work. With Vibha, I've been amazed at how efficiently volunteer time has been used, at how systems are in place, so that even your few hours can go a long way in helping the cause of children's education. While in Bangalore, during my last visit to India, I stopped by a Vibha (partly) sponsored project, the Hope School in Kaval Byrasandra. I got a first hand view of how the effort we put in makes a difference to kids' lives. Many children, who would've otherwise been on the street all day, were spending their time in school. I sat through one of the classes, and greatly appreciated the effort the teacher put in trying to translate the cryptic biology textbook into something the children could relate to. It was also a reminder of the many challenges in trying to bring such children to the education level of those from more privileged homes. The school principal told me that local Vibha volunteers taught special science classes to the 7th standard students (the senior-most class in the school) to help prepare them for their board exams. The role of Vibha, from fund raising in Washington to giving the money to the school to helping the school out with local volunteers, was very inspiring. While the more mundane things in life leave little time to volunteer, I would hope to make a long term commitment and do my bit in helping underprivileged children.

Simply Excellent, It gives me an immense satisfication when I do a volunteer work and thinking of being part of this very transparent organization, that is helping to educate a child in India and US. I wish it should extend her efforts to all over the world. We all know the current world's biggest threat was due to a country that ignored right education for their kids. So I strongly believe a country's progress in right direction is depend on rightly educated society. So I request whoever reads this message please contribute physically or financially to this good cause. When you ask a question WHAT DID I DO TO MAKE THIS WORLD BETTER THAN IT WAS, WHEN I BORN ? you can answer very proudly for being part of VIBHA.

I have been volunteering for Vibha for the past 3 years. I had long wanted to contribute in some way towards the betterment of children. The first thing that attracted me towards volunteering for Vibha was the focus, structure and organization that is so rare in non-profits. Vibha has very strict guidelines for project selection, monitoring and is very involved in all projects it supports. Inspite of this, the adminstrative cost is minimal and we pass on the bulk of what we raise to where it rightfully belongs. The passion that is shared across volunteers is contagious! I am proud to be part of Vibha!

Vibha, I beleive, is more than just an organization. I would more aptly put it as a "Family", every member of which, irrespetive of their age, background or geographic location, has one common goal - To brighten and shape the future of every child who needs our help. During my 6 years of association, I have seen first hand the commitment, abundant enthusiasm and drive among the volunteers; the willingness to learn from the past and eagerness to challenge oneself at every step. As an outcome our fundraising methodologies have matured, marketing strategies have become professional and project selection/monitoring more structured. We now have much wider presence with several action centres starting all across India and in US. The recent efforts on making the next big leap - changing from just an fundraising organisation to one that would help improve the efficiency of grass root organizations in India, has already started to show results. Pragati 2009, the gathering of all partners in Bangalore in October has been mutually helpful to both Vibha and other NGOs. With more collaboration in plans, I anticipate this drive to yield more exponential results in the years to come.

For many years, I wanted to give something back to my community. I believe that education is the best gift that you can ever give a person to make them self-reliable and independent. The impact is even greater when we attempt to educate a child. While I wanted to donate my time and money to help educate underprivileged kids in India, I was also wary of the overheads that a charitable organization incurs. At this juncture, I came across Vibha, a perfect answer to realize my dreams.Vibha as an organization provides the support and infrastructure for volunteers like me and encourages us to dream a little and change a little. Vibha's mission -- educate, empower and enable every individual who wishes to make a positive difference in the life of the underprivileged child -- is exactly what I needed. With over 825 volunteers in Vibha network, it is big enough to create an impact on the society, yet, small enough to be managed by truly passionate volunteers. As a result, all the money raised by this organization is actually well spent for the truly needed kids. I had the honor of working with amazing Vibha volunteers who consider Vibha a top priority over everything else in their lives. Really amazing organization and I am glad to be part of it!!

I am an educator in US. I was traveling to India in December 2008 and wanted to go and see educational projects run by nonprofit organizations. The project run by Vibha seemed the best managed of them all. The commitment of the volunteers/organizers was extremely commendable. I came back to US and joined Vibha as a volunteer and I believe that whatever little amount of work we are doing we are making a difference and probably changing a child's future. Education is the best gift we can give to our future generation.

I always wanted to work for an organization providing education and support for the betterment of children as they are the most vulnerable members of our society. Vibha was exactly the kind of organization I was looking for. After researching a lot, I joined Vibha and have been working for the past year and a half. It has been an amazing experience to work with like minded individuals who are contributing their time and energy for a greater cause and share the same passion as I do. It is great to read reports and articles on the various Vibha supported projects like Sikshana which is doing good and making a difference. It makes me feel like my life is worth something.

We also volunteered at local organizations like the Epilepsy foundation and helped raise funds for the Milwaukee Public School - Homeless Education Program and the Marine Toys for Tots. Overall, this past year with Vibha has been absolutely fantastic and fun with all the enthusiastic volunteers! Being a part of an organization that helps under-privileged children be responsible adults by providing them education is very satisfying.

I've had a great time volunteering for Vibha for nearly a decade. People are serious about the cause and give their 100% when they commit to a task. Our events have matured from being fledgling events into near professional events. On a different note, I am very excited about the direction in which Vibha's relationship with grassroots organizations is heading - ie moving from being just a funding agency into sort of a resource organization that brings out the strengths and rectifies the flaws in grassroots organizations in India. Pragati 2009 - the first annual conference of Vibha supported projects- is just the first step in this direction. I'm proud to be a volunteer of this wonderful organization.

My experience with Vibha has been a true eye opener for me. Vibha volunteers are amongst the most dedicated bunch of folks. Inspite of being a completely volunteer driven organization, Vibha is able to support projects that positively impact the lives of tens of thousands of children across India, each year. At the same time, the administrative overhead at Vibha is very low, allowing more than 90% of the funds raised to directly go to the projects in India.

I am one of the new Vibha volunteer. Joined Vibha because of its nicely structured website. Volunteers were very easy to contact and prompt in replying back to any query related to organization. Primarily there would be four things I would look for to work with an NGO. 1. Cause NGO is targeted to. 2. Is money going to right people? 3. Are volunteers needed and respected. 4. Volunteers already working for NGO. I found Vibha doing a tremendous job on all the four factors. To sum up Vibha has right cause, organization is very well structured to make sure money is spent the right way, Vibha needs and respect new volunteers and last but not the least Vibha have very dedicated and efficient volunteer base.

I am fortunate to be where I am today. Many of the things I took for granted growing up is a dream for an underprivileged child - clothes, paper, even food. These children have a right to be educated and a chance at a better life. All they need is to be given an opportunity! I have seen people with various abilities, interests and ideas come together at Vibha to just do that. These lovely people have been an inspiration! Along the way, I have realised how difficult it is to raise/distribute funds and be effective. Vibha is very much volunteer driven and strives hard to keep costs very low. The transparency is very high. It has an excellent team of professionals volunteering a lot of their time handling this difficult task of selecting and monitoring projects. I am highly confident of how funds are being distributed and the effectiveness of Vibha' involvement at the grassroots level.

I have been a volunteer for more than 6 years now. During this time, Vibha has evolved from a non-profit run by volunteers with a passion to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children to a professionally run non-profit with 15 Action Centers in the US and 6 in India. Vibha has reached out to 150,000 children through 190 projects in India and the US to date. All this while remaining a mostly volunteer driven organization. It has been amzaing to see the volunteer growth in the last few years which has brought in new ideas to raise awareness, renewed passion and commitment in our efforts to make a difference. As a volunteer here in the US, I may not personally see how my volunteering efforts benefit projects, but Vibha has bridged the gap by providing project updates(photos and write-ups etc. through newsletters) frequently and encouraging volunteers to visit projects during visits to India.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has - This Margaret Mead quote has become one of the most commonly used quotes at vibha over the last few years and this mentality has permeated throughout the entire organization. I have been involved with Vibha for almost a decade now and vibha has now become a part of my daily existence. A number of things have attracted me about the organization and kept me motivated over the years. First and foremost, I am amazed by the commitment of the volunteer body. Vibha volunteers battle everything from personal struggles to tough economies to ensure that money is raised for the underprivileged kids that Vibha supports in the US and in India. Secondly, Vibha strong project selection and project monitoring methodologies ensure that the money is being spent on the right and deserving projects and once the money is given to the project, its being utilized in the right way. Vibha also manages to keep a very low administrative overhead, which ensure that approximately 90 cents of every dollar raised reaches the right recipient.
