Mission: Our mission is to create greater public awareness and appreciation of america's rich musical heritage.
Programs: Carnegie hall concert series:the new york pops performs an annual subscription series presented by carnegie hall. Over 16,000 people attend the six-concert series each year. Programs celebrate the historic and evolving american musical landscape from film scores to jazz, broadway, r&b, folk and more. Other concerts:the new york pops partners with a variety of organizations including carnegie hall, new york theatre ballet, and camp broadway to produce collaborative concert programs. The new york pops' "summer home" is at forest hills stadium in queens, new york. These concerts are presented by corporate sponsors and madison house presents. These engagements collectively reach an audience of more than 10,000 each year.
education program:the new york pops is dedicated to community service through music education. Popsed reaches thousands of new yorkers of all ages and backgrounds annually with three program types. Through kids in the balcony/kids in the stadium (music appreciation); lesson-based choral and instrumental residencies; and an instrumental performance experience that culminates side-by-side with new york pops musicians at carnegie hall during the annual gala concert (kids on stage); the organization partners with public schools in all five boroughs, outer-borough community organizations, children's health services such as ronald mcdonald house and senior centers. We make music open to all, and use tools like composition, lyric writing, performance and mentorship to foster learning and unbridled creativity. In doing so, we excite students and give them skills they can apply to all areas of their lives.
