The goal for members is to establish a warm, responsive and personal organization through which they can interact easily with other members within a warm and rewarding environment and keep informed about all aspects of backyard birds, especially feeding.

Through members? support, the not-for-profit Society sponsors education and research on backyard birds. Education reaches members through newsletters and other printed materials. Education reaches the general public through the news media and school programs.

Grants are made for research on subjects that directly affect backyard song birds, especially the ways in which people can provide for and enjoy birds.
