Mission: The organization is committed to research, education and dissemination of information regarding multicultural health issues. The organization's focus is to improve the healthcare delivery system by educating, understanding, and interacting with people in the communities we serve in order to reduce health disparities amongst racial and ethnic groups.
Programs: The organization, through collaboraton and education, interacts with community partners to promote wellness and health care that will lead to longer, healthier lives, and reduce costly health inequities through effective prevention efforts. The organization provide ongoing program such as:1. Monthly "ask dr. Lisa" community forms. 2. Deployment of "the gatekeepers of community health" to educate children and adults on health and wellness issues, and participation in community events, such as the aka community health fair and ongoing women's health research initiatives. 3. Free health kiosk installed at the robert l. Taylor community center where 200 people per month track and self-manage their health and wellness journeys. 4. Regular publication and dissemination of culturally relevant health and wellness updates that reach over 5,000 subscribers. 5. Reaching out to underrepresented students and schools throughout the manasota, florida region teaching about science, technology, engineering, art, math and health (steamh) careers and providing shadowing and internship opportunities via the mhi scholars program. 6. Holding quarterly events and collaborating on planning, recruitment and support for 28 impactful health awareness activities. 7. Other programs such as "know no bounds tech camp" for middle school students and granting of student scholarships and internships.
