Mission: The mount vernon conservancy inc's mission is to be the full-time single management entity responsible for the historic restoration, oversight and protection of the washington monument, along with maintenance and management of mount vernon place.
Programs: The conservancy embarked on a phase of schematic design for the north and south squares of mount vernon place. In addition, some restoration and improvements were made to the washington monument and the squares.
the conservancy is responsible for maintaining the washington monument, as well as maintaining the four parks squares around it. Various contracted services are used at the monument for internet, etc. In the parks, the conservancy has a contract with a professional landscaper to maintain the grass, urns, plantings and hanging baskets. In addition, funds were spent on program activities.
the conservancy employed two full time office staff to manage the general operations of the conservancy, as well as several part time employees to staff the washington monument. A consultant and website hosting company were paid on contract.
