I was a subscriber and am now a volunteer at Center Stage. The shows that they bring to the Baltimore audience are varied, creatively produced, and very professional. Pre-show lobby staging, discussion groups, and learning opportunities are also part of the Center Stage experience. This theater is a true gem of the Baltimore cultural scene!
Larry Jones and I (Diana Jones) who volunteer as ushers appreciate the following characteristics of Center Stage: it offers a wide range of plays that reflect and are enjoyed by the diverse Community of Baltimore, it has an education staff who provide invaluable educational and cultural opportunities for both Baltimore City and area public high schools students, a theatre staff who listens and responds appropriately to theatre goers and volunteer comments, and so much more. We have loved being part of the Center Stage Community! We love seeing the plays and musicals, interacting with students at student matinees, theatre goers, and staff. Thank you Center Stage for offering so much to help enhance our lives, that reflects the Baltimore way of life.
Great shows for the family that have a local and international appeal. Very professional actors and great art and costume design. Gives back to the local community with fundraising, festivals and volunteering. A better choice away from too many movies and TV.
I love Center Stage! I've been an usher for about ten years. I'm always treated professionally and warmly. I've also helped with office work and staffed a booth at various festivals in the city. It's always fun, I meet great people, and see outstanding theater. What could be better?
Center Stage is an excellent place to volunteer. I have volunteered at several different places in Baltimore including a larger theater. This theater is such a welcoming place with employees going out of their way to make volunteers and guests feel comfortable and appreciated. I really enjoy interacting with the employees, actors, and other volunteers. I also love watching the plays. Center Stage provides opportunities for people of all ages and especially students.
I have been a volunteer at Center Stage for seventeen seasons, some more actively than others. I often brag that Center Stage sets the standard for incorporating everyone who wants to help. I have been an usher, I have cooked and served during tech dinners, answered phones during the radio auction and welcomed people for our annual open house. I've always been treated with respect and communication has been terrific. I've had the opportunity to see so much wonderful theatre and meet many fantastic people!
Volunteering at Center Stage has and continues to be a wonderful experience. It is like going home to family. There are many of us who each brings him/herself to the table. This makes for variety, learning, camaraderie and coordinated cohesive efforts. Such JOY it is to enter the theatre doors and know that I am going to be in the company of individuals who will be providing the best service, assistance, safety and professionalism ever! Together, our focus is our patronage and the staff persons who are always so appreciative!!
As a volunteer at CenterStage I of course get an opportunity to work with great people and meet wonderful patrons. We have a diverse pool of ushers as well as patrons. Ushering is second nature to me. CenterStage allows me to use my personal gift of 'help'. No one is a stranger. There is warmth, closeness and intimacy at CenterStage. The staff is also wonderful. Very welcoming and easy to work with. They are a gracious team. We are really a family.
We are located in an area that recognizes the Cultural Arts. We are near a museum, an Arts High School and a Conservatory. What i like most about Center Stage is that it's productions are relevant to issues faced daily by all walks of life. The writers and directors always seem to Wow! the audience. They have the ability to draw us in. They even managed to provide venues that are interactive.
One of my most memorable volunteer experiences was during the 'Marley" show. The CenterStage staff, actors etc. provided an opportunity for the audience to dance to the Reggae beats not only in designated sections of the theater, but also an opportunity for the audience to dance on stage. Prior to the show there were specialty drinks, sand, DJ and also a time for the cast to mingle with the patrons. As a volunteer, I was able to not only assist in keeping order in the theater, I was able to experience the elation of the patrons.
CenterStage is a great place to visit as well as volunteer. Whether a volunteer or a patron consider supporting CenterStage of Baltimore.
As a 5-year part-time volunteer for Center Stage, my experience working with the organization has been beyond the expectations that I initially expected prior to making the decision to volunteer there. From the main stage plays, community engagement projects and events, and to the dedicated staff and volunteers, having been ( and concurrently) with the organization has been a undeniable blessing. Not just to me, but to the people who come to the theater the get "the best theater experience ever",
I look forward to continuously volunteer and support Center Stage and I would (without a drop of hesitation) encourage anyone else to do the same.
Center Stage is a classy and cultural theater and has many dedicated and artsy staff. Volunteering at the theater was uplifting. Visitors and staff were diverse and excited about the shows . Rating 5 of course!
Volunteering at Center Stage has been a rewarding experience. Not only do I enjoy the magnificent plays, but I get to meet and interact with a diverse group of people. Working with such a dynamic staff has enhanced my experience. The dedication to their customers and volunteers is second to none. May Center Stage exist forever.
