Causes: Arts & Culture, Symphony Orchestras
Mission: The purpose of the lsyo shall be to promote the enjoyment and appreciation of symphonic music through performance and educational programs in the central virginia area.
Programs: Student enrollment of 61 middle and high school student representing 16 area school and homeschooled students in the central va area. For both spring and fall sessions, students attend weekly rehearsals ranging from 60 to 90 minutes. Weekly practices help to build an interst in symphonic music, to increase musical proficiency and to encourage leadership skills.
each session culminated in a concert presenting a variety of music. The fall session features seasonal selections, the spring session has a concerto performance showcasing more advanced students. Concert attendance ranges from 275 to 600 persons of all ages.
awarding scholarships to seniors pursuing a major/minor in music. Seven scholarship were awarded. Tuition assistance of 1600 was provided.
