Foster Hope has seen the need to provide back packs and pillows for children entering foster care. The back pack a full of personal essentials that every child needs. I think it is very insightful that they thought to provide "my own" pillow and toiletries for these youngsters. The bags ar brand new have an age appropriate toy and/or book and pajamas. While entering foster care is not what any child wants to do, they do find some small comfort is receiving these back packs full of goodies. I have seen many children look surprised and confused about why someone would do that for them, especially at such a stressful time. I have, also, seen sibling open the bags and excitedly compare what each has gotten. Then there are times when they have been so excited about their new "stuff" that they focus completely on their new treasures and not on what is going on around them.
Foster Hope has, also, done a wonderful job exposing older youth to possiblities for their future. They have organized programs during the summer to introduce them to robotics, engineering and computer technology. These youngsters spend an entire week on a college campus in a funfilled learning atmosphere. These programs cause the kids to realize there are options for their future. Some of the kids have never been in this camp like setting where everything was provided for their work, entertainment and daily lunches.
This group is worthy of recognition!!!
