Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe is the first professional dance company with which I danced in the 1980's. The experience pushed me past the level I ever pushed myself and I am certainly better for it. The company was very professional. I'll never forget the discipline and energy that Sis. Rfuaw had then and still has and how I so much wanted to be like her! I still know what my body can do, and am grateful for the experience. Sis. Rfuaw and Queen Mother Suma are my forever family.
The Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe, was my very first experience with dance and culture. It was a life changing experience. Everything they have ever taught me is still in my heart today. The African culture I learn while attending classes and as a performer really helped me to be the person I am today. I am going to participate in upcoming community projects and preparing to audition to be apart of the dance company. Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe is a really great organization to be a part of.
I've danced with Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe several times throughout my 45 year and I have truly enjoyed the knowledge and energy shared by Rfuaw, the Instructor. She is one of the few Master Dance American teachers born here in the United States. She teaches African dance as well as drumming and her son was a Master drummer at a young age .I've seen many African dance instructors throughout my life but very very few can come close to her knowledge.
I took a class and enjoyed myself so much I set up a workshop for my Women's Day Program. The Women enjoyed the workshop so much we then set up a community exercise class for six weeks. We cannot afford to pay what it is worth and the value that you get from Laini Kuumba/Sis Rfuaw.
Laini Kuumba is an organization that does good and ethical work in the New Orleans community, particularly those that have been disenfranchised in certain ways. They support the community by providing space for healing and comfort. As an organization, they do not just work as a typical non-profit because many regard Laini Kuumba as family. They truly exemplify unity and upliftment to oppressed people.
Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe has played an active role in the positive development of many communities in Louisiana & Texas. The programming and community out reach has benefited people from new born to our seniors. For years this organization provides after school programs for public school students as well as teach home school from pre-k to 6th grades.
Additionally, Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe provides meal for the homeless and underserved communities of the greater New Orleans area.

Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe has played an active role in the positive development of many communites. They're programming and community out reach has benifitted people from 1 day old to 110 years old. They're service has been the " cup of chicken soup" to many underserved people.
This organization is a great asset to Louisiana. I check their Facebook page often to keep myself informed and educated. The work they do is priceless!
Laini Kuumba Ngoupe Troupe, is a well established organization. It gives genuine support and concern to the New Orleans Arts community. There is no discrimination of anyone, all are welcomed. I have been volunteering with them for over an year and I Love it! I had no experience with dance nor gardening but with music and was willing to help any way I could. The staff were very excited for me to share my talents and experiences with Laini Kuumba Ngoupe Troupe. LKNT IS THE BEST!! WHO DAT!!!!
I was driving down the street in New Orleans one day and ran into this young lady working in a community garden. She had over 40 kids working with her. I asked if I could do anything to help and the young lady say what kind of help ma'am. I then said how can I make a monetary donation, the young lady Rah was so humble that I have become a active participate. I love how she works with the children.
LKNT is dedicated to serving their community, through the art of dance and general commitment to enriching the lives they touch. I've not know a group more giving of their individual and collective time and talent. I've known them for many years and could not be more proud of their achievements and longevity, professionally and personally.
The LKNT organization is one of the most truthful, giving & progressive arts organizations I have come in contact with. I have personally enjoyed the work they do for the community for many many years. I started off taking dance classes with them at St. Mark's Community Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in the early 80's to mid 90's, have been a supporter ever since. Now I love volunteering with them whenever time permits. They are what I call a living breathing cultural incubator. I know them to be dedicated and committed to keeping arts and culture alive. They work with a limited budget and still give it all they have, so if they had funding, I can't imagine the miracles they would work.
LKNT is a great cultural group that brings a great gift to the community. Helping children to build self confidence while focusing on mind, body and spirit. LKNT Is a vital part of the much needed Arts community and without them we would be missing out on an important part of our African heritage. I have known this group since I was a teenager and as an adult I am proud that I can introduce my own kids to this wonderful experience.
i have known of the Laini Kuumba Ngma Troup for many of their 34 years of existence and I have been so impressed not only with their ability to perform, but their desire to preserve, promote and present traditional African customs, culture and traditions. Thier long history as an arts and educational organization being able to survive during hard times of the economy is a testament to their committment to providing dance, theatre, visual and performing arts to a wide spectrum of students and audiences across the United States. They are certainly worthy of major support both financial and technical.
LKNT is a well rounded arts and educational organization.. They truly work miracles bringing the arts to the schools and communities.
This organization is serious about providing arts and culture to communities where other are afraid to go. LKNT to serious about educating the masses...
LKNT has been doing amazing work for over 35 years and will continue on, passing it down to the next generation
I hired this dance troupe to perform and host a week long dance & drumming workshop at my school and they did an awesome job. They were very engaging and professional. I give them 10 Thumbs Up, the students are still talking about that week and singing the songs they learned. We are planning to bring them back next year.
I started going to Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe's dance classes when I was very young age 3 to be exact and lost contact with them after Hurricane Katrina. They helped me to change my life from worst to better. I recently reconnected with them.. I am hoping to start dancing with them in 2014. I love them..
LKNT, is one of the best organization I have ever volunteered with. I started volunteering, training and working with Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe for over 25 years and the experience has been most rewarding. The work they are doing changes lives and communities.
I started particiating in event that Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe promoted and found the organization to be highly respected, professional not to mention how wonder their offering to the community really is. I plan to start volunteering with them in 2012. Thanks Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe for helping the folks that are less fortunate. Organizations like yours help to change the world.
