Mission: Education, research, and service aimed at improving the lives of people with musculoskeletal conditions.
Programs: During 2017 jackson orthopaedic foundation provided musculoskeletal education and service programs to patients, health care providers, and the public in accordance with its mission to improve the lives of people with musculoskeletal conditions. The organization conducted research in the field of orthopedics designed to help health care providers better understand and meet the challenges they currently face in caring for these patients. Patient education programs:arthritis and osteoporosis education classes upon request. Individual arthritis & osteoporosis patient education was provided to clients on request by volunteer licensed health care providers. Provider education programs:provided local nursing continuing education programs. Principals of the organization presented talks at state and national level, representing the mission and goals of the foundation. Collaborated with local university to continue development of curriculum for orthopedic primary care program. Delivered 250+hour continuing education orthopedic primary care course for 8 nurse practitioners over two semesters. Provided 6-week summer intern program for 8 college students. Service programsrecycled dme for patients in need, including gently used crutches, walkers, braces & splints. Researchgrant applications submitted for funding of phase iii of np musculoskeletal knowledge, competence, and confidence study, the adequacy of nurse practitioner education in musculoskeletal medicine.
