Mission: The stevens school provides school-based services for children with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and autism spectrum disorders.
Programs: The school without walls at francis stevens is the site for the ivymount school classroom which is a self-contained classroom for students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades. Students are in the classroom full time, including lunch, recess and special electives. As students progress, they have the opportunity to join peers for carefully selected opportunities for social or academic interaction that are intensively supported by the stevens schools staff. Each classroom is staffed with a district of columbia public schools (dcps) special education teacher, a stevens school special education teacher, and two teaching assistants, one from each jurisdiction. The special education teachers co-teach, with the stevens school teacher acting as the lead teacher until the dcps teacher is able to independently impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and autism spectrum disorders.
