Mission: Our goal is to provide affordable, high quality, early childhood education and family support services in a stable and nurturing environment, thereby providing children of working families skills and hope for lifelong development. Hfdh provides more scholarships for homeless and low income families than any other center in san francisco. Our highest priority is ending the cycle of poverty. This mission continues a tradition established in 1900 by the sisters of the holy family.
Programs: The preschool child development program is based at the dolores street site. Among the families of these 96 children: 70% report incomes below $25,000; 20% live in shelters or temporary housing; 30% are enrolled in welfare-to-work program; 100% work or attend school full-time. 45% are hispanic, 23% caucasian, 18% multi-racial, 11% african american, 3% asian/pacific islander.
the infant toddler program serves 58 children ages 3 to 30 months old. 70% of the families are in the welfare-to-work program or are homeless or formerly homeless. Like at the dolores site, all parents and guardians are either working or going to school full-time.
