health workforce retraining initiative (hwri): this initiative is supported by the new york state department of health and its purpose is to provide multiple training projects for hospital and nursing home members staff in the areas of quality improvement, cultural competency, infection prevention, safe patient handling, and care coordination. The grant ended as of june 30, 2016, and a new two-year contract was awarded effective january 1, 2017.
