Mission: Gedco is a strong and committed partnership of diverse faith based organizations and community groups that addresses some of the most complex challenges facing america's urban communities in the 21st century. Gedco homes, a gedco subsidiary, was awarded neighborhood stabilization ii (npsii) funds to acquire and rehabilitate single-family homes in neighborhoods surrounding stadium place. These homes will be sold to households earning at or below 120% of baltimore msa area median income. Npsii funds are being used to help gedco homes stabilize neighborhoods surrounding stadium place and to create affordable housing opportunities for household who desire to live in those neighborhoods.
Programs: Stadium place - an affordable retirement community on the site of the former memorial stadium that will serve more than 500 older adults with independent apartments, an interfaith entry plaza called thanksgiving place, complementary commercial space, a community playground, a ymca and the green house (r) residences, offering an innovative model of long term care.
micah house - a 33-unit permanent sro residence for men and women who were homeless, with supportive services to help each person develop and follow a plan to reach his or her fullest potential. It is located in the 5200 block of york road and opened in 1999.
epiphany house - initiated by the founding churches in 1984, it is 33 efficiency apartments with services coordination for low-income seniors age 62 and older or age 55 and older with a disability. It is located in a renovated, pre-civil war era building at york road and bellona avenue.
