Mission: Provide free medical and dental services and health education to st johns co, fl adult residents who are uninsured and whose income falls at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Programs: In 2016 good samaritan health centers, a non-profit clinic, provided 4,601 patient visits to 1,628 patients; 2,299 of those visits were for dental extractions, fillings, and cleanings, 2,302 of the visits were for medical clinics including general medical, women's health, chronic care, mental health, dermatology, labs, vision, ent and chiropractic care. Another 4,071 outpatient services and 158 referrals to specialty practitioners were coordinated for patients. Services are provided to all qualified residents at no costin additon, good samaritan health centers outreach team provided health screenings, basic first aid and wound care, and referrals to 1,539 patients. The team accomplished this through 3,910 patient encounters across st johns county in tandem with partner agencies that serve homeless residents. This team works to ensure the homeless also have access to flu shots, bug spray, to prevent bite infections, and basic supplies such as socks, sleeping bags and blankets to protect them from the elements. The free clinic operates using a professional volunteer model with 110 doctors, dentists and nurses donating 2,548 hours valued at $982,282. An additonal 77 volunteers provided 1,644 hours to assist with eligibility determination, office support, grounds and building maintenance and event planning.
