Mission: Established in 1993,the nonprofit organization, Golden Ears trains hearing dogs for the deaf/severely hearing impaired. Main operations are located in the Tacoma, Washington area with volunteers across the Puget Sound. There is an enormous need for these special team members. A hearing dog is trained to alert its person to sounds important in daily living. For the severe/profound hearing impaired/deaf individual, the absence of sound can mean a less accessible and secure life. A hearing dog provides increased personal safety, independence and mobility, and increased mental health through this special companionship.
