Mission: To financially support the fort douglas military museum, to preserve the legacy of fort douglas, to foster interest in fort douglas' role in the development of utah and the intermountain west, and to foster interest in the military history of the area.
Programs: During the year, the organization hosted and sponsored museum program events, assisted in improvement projects related to the museum, and helped to create and develop exhibits for the museum. During the year, the organization participated or hosted the following events: participated in museum day at the state capitol (23 feb) participated in the annual state history fair (16 apr) conducted a 40th anniversary commemoration and dedication for the red gilmore gallery (14 may) conducted a field trip to karl smith's military vehicle collection in tooele (30 may) participated in the annual fort douglas cemetery memorial day program (25 may) participated in the blue star museum program (30 may - 5 sep) conducted a utah fallen warrior remembrance program (4 jun) conducted the annual fort douglas family day (18 jun) hosted a buffalo soldier lecture and book signing (18 aug) conducted a 9/11 day of remembrance program (11 sep) organized and conducted a world war i, enemy alien symposium (16 sep) participated in smithsonian museum day (24 sep) conducted a fort douglas cemetery tour (22 oct) hosted a utah war lecture and book signing (7 nov) this does not include the many lectures, special group visitors, and other day-to-day activities that the docents are involved in.
