The governing body of the college is the not-for-profit corporation's board of directors (board), which is composed of no less than five members. Effective july 1, 1999, the college converted from a public school and technical center to a charter school and charter technical career center. The first coast technical institute provides vocational and technical programs such as: fire fighting, culinary arts, child care management, air conditioning and refrigeration. The institute's enrollment is approximately 1,030 students.
