Programs: Center for children and families: the center for children and families includes programs for infants, preschool, primary school, and teenage children. The childcare program is for children 6 weeks through 5 years. The childcare program is provided in two locations: southwest and west houston. 293 children are enrolled including 16 special needs children. In addition, the center also provides after school classes and activities in different sports, which build confidence and self esteem. This includes 166 participants in children's dance programs, and 268 in children's theater programs. The center also has a variety of cultural, social and recreational programs for high school teens. Over 600 teens take advantage of these programs at the merfish teen center, which include a service day named "j-serve", a nationwide teen olympics "maccabi games", an art exhibition, and leadership programs. Finally, the center provides full summer camp with flexible options to approximately 1,150 children.
center for health and recreation: the center for health and recreation provides a variety of programs to keep each individual in shape and healthy. First, the health center is a state of the art facility, with the latest fitness equipment, which provides a full range of fitness services to an estimated 2,000 individuals. Second, the aquatics program provides classes designed to teach children the necessary skills to feel comfortable in the water, as well as increasing their self confidence in their swimming abilities. The aquatics program also offers classes for adults which help with flexibility and balance. The swim program serves approximately 3000 children and 250 adults this past year. Third, the gymnastic program teaches proper developmental skills, self-awareness, and is a great fitness program as well as having fun. Over 1,000 children are enrolled in gymnastics classes, teams, and camps. An indoor tennis facility teaches children concentration, focus, hand-eye coordination and motor skills. There are 775 children and 475 adults participating in the program. And finally our sports and recreation program is thriving and growing: 686 members of the meyerland soccer club for youth, 245 players in men's basketball in two leagues through two sessions, and 45 participants in the center's taekwondo program.
the center for community services: center for community services provides assistance to over 4,200 disabled, homebound, isolated and hospice seniors in harris county on an annual basis. The center provides senior companion, foster grandparent, meals on wheels, and rsvp programs. The 155 senior companion and foster grandparent volunteers provided 136,253 hours of assistance to the community last year. The meals on wheels program numbers 150 volunteers that serve 770 seniors who are unable to cook for themselves, estimating over 100,000 meals annually. The rsvp program has over 810 volunteers that provided 90,661 hours of service to over 8,000 clients in 18 counties in partnership with 122 non-profit partner agencies. This rsvp program is the largest in texas. In addition, the center provides social, educational and fitness activities for an estimated 1,900 adults over 60. A new program j ride which launched may 2015 , is a non-emergency transportation program for seniors. J ride is in collaboration with jewish family service, jewish federation of greater houston, and goldberg b'nai b'rith towers and over 1,500 rides were provided last year.
