Mission: Eryc taylor dance, inc. Is a new york city based charitable corporation with a mission to advance appreciation of dance and educate the public about dance by creating and presenting original performances, conducting master classes and workshops, and making grants to aspiring choreographers. Etd seeks to positively enhance the new york city community by creating outreach for adults and children with no or limited dance training that could benefit from the kinesthetic process and would otherwise not have access to similar movement opportunities.
Programs: Eryc taylor dance has an on-going movement workshops with seven different supportive housing sites and hospitals throughout new york city, including: postgraduate center for mental health, center for urban community services, lantern community services, odyssey house, acacia network, nyu langone, and more.
every year, eryc taylor dance gives out three grants to young, aspiring nyc-based choreographers. Eryc works with each of them and guides them through the process of creating a new piece. A works-in-progress showing is hosted by etd for the grant recipients after three months.
during the new york city fall season, etd dance holds performances annually, each time at a different venue. About 400-600 people total attend over the course of four nights of performances. This increases public awareness of dance, providing further insight into the practice for both seasoned dance enthusiasts and audience members who are not accustomed to viewing this art form.
