I love this organization because they help me greatly with my mission. I am dedicated to helping get the correct information out about important issues and then motivate people to contact their Representatives to be heard and put pressure on them to change the country into a better place. Environmental Defense Action Fund (EDF) has been a indispensable, informative, inspiring, resource in helping me stay up-to-date on important environmental issues.
Since 1967, they've found innovative ways to solve big environmental problems. Environmental Defense Fund’s mission is to preserve the natural systems on which all life depends. I think that mission is an extremely important one, and they have carried out their mission better than anyone could have. Since the founders of EDF; Art Cooley, Charlie Wurster and Dennis Puleston took on their first fight 1967 to protect humans and wildlife from DDT, their success in "preserving the natural systems on which all life depends has been unbelievably valuable.
With milestones like:
1970: EDF helps bring all hunted whales onto the U.S. endangered species list.
1975: EDF hires Zach Willey, the first Ph.D. economist to work full-time at an environmental org.
1977: Our campaign curbs the use of the hazardous flame retardant TRIS in children’s sleepwear.
1985: We help convince federal regulators to end the use of leaded gasoline.
1991: McDonald’s accepts the recommendation of our joint task force, eliminating more than 150,000 tons of packaging waste. ;
and many, many, many, more which can be found on their website, http://www.edf.org, along with a ton more information on what they do, and what YOU can do, I am grateful for all their tremendous work, and accomplishments, and how well they utilize donations to truly help us and planet, and will be forever.
I have three children, one of which is severely handicapped, I count on organizations like this to make a safe environment for my children to live in. With companies like Monsanto, the oil & gas industry, and many others spending an absurd amount of money to misinform and out right deceive the public to increase their profits where would we be without them?
From the bottom of my heart, I say let EDF help us, help ourselves. Follow their lead, get informed about important issues, contact your Senators, Congressmen/women, and state legislators when bills important to the environment come up.
