Mission: Emerald city theatre celebrates all of chicago's children through playful, professional and culturally relevant artistic programs that motivate young people to creatively face the world.
Programs: Mainstage season performances:emerald city theatre produces a mainstage season of shows at the apollo theater in lincoln park, one to three shows per season at the broadway playhouse in water tower place (broadway in chicago) and one show for children aged 0-5 in our storefront space, the little theatre. All shows include an opportunity for audience members to meet characters after each performance.
student matinees:emerald city theatre offers heavily discounted tickets to school-groups for each show per season. Cast members take part in a question/answer session facilitated by an education staff member after each performance.
emerald city theatre school:emerald city theatre school provides children with arts education that focuses on important life skills and prepares children to creatively face the world. Education programming strives to enhance the mainstage experience with highly participatory curriculum taught by professional artists. Through classes, camps, after-school programs and in-school residencies children explore and challenge their own creativity and build self-confidence and critical thinking skills. In addition, students receive an introductory education regarding all aspects of theatre arts.
