This organization is wonderful! I have seen the transformation in children as a result of the musical instruction. They teach classical, jazz and the children receive instruction from world class musicians.
Music instruction improves self esteem, social emotional development, and agency. There is no better place to learn that Musical Arts Institute.
As a long time supporter of the Musical Arts Institue and someone who works in the community in which they serve, I have seen firsthand the impact the school has had on our community's youth. Their love for music, education, and young people is exemplified in their quality of affordable musical education. Our community is often underserved when it comes to the arts, and Musical Arts Institute fills the void with an excellent curriculum and instructors who bring out the hidden talents within their students, which allows them to discover the joy of music and learning. With this newfound gift, the children excel in music and the classroom, which translates into new affirming opportunities for growth. I am grateful for the work that Lana and Micheal Manson are doing and will continue to support them and encourage others to do the same.
I have studied music on and off for many years but I never had this much access to the knowledge and experience that have been provided to me at the MAI. Clearly the best instructors I had studied with. The path for very good opportunities are very clear.
Music Arts Institute is an amazing experience for any person interested in the fine arts. My daughter has been taking lessons for more than 3 years. I see the affect in her interest in music in her self esteem, confidence and posture. Through the encouragement of her teacher she has learning what I consider the impossible for a child of her ethnic background and social status. She's playing the violin. I'm always amazed at her enthusiasm when it's time for her lesson. But the biggest advantage is the patience, empathy and positive attitude of her teacher. The teachers that have worked with her from her piano instructor to her current violin instructor Mr. Manson has made playing an instrument so much fun. I see the results when she actually practice at home. I also as I mentioned earlier see the positive influence of fine arts in her studies at school because studying music has helped her focus and concentration especially in math. She is an honors student. Lastly, the people at Music Arts Institute has become part of my family. We are not a business transaction but a community, a village. I see that especially now during this pandemic season. MAI's interest and resources in being part of our children's success story always amaze me when former classmates visit and gives their story. We dont have a lot of extracurricular activities in our community, so it's great to have one where the people in it are dedicated to giving of their talent, time and themselves.
My daughter is currently takes violin lessons at the Music and Arts Institute. Her teacher Mr. Manson is wonderful. He has brought out a confidence and talent in my daughter that I did not know was there. All the staff and teachers are very patient, personable and supportive of their students and do their best to take them to a different level in music. Their recitals that they showcase the students' talents are beyond words. They teach the students how to present themselves and do their best, which is awesome. My child is very shy and I see a difference in her pose and attitude towards herself and it has spilled over into her social life. Even her teachers and counselor at school are seeing a subtile difference in her confidence and have comment on it. Her grades are even better because she believes in herself. This is a great Music school and I would recommend it to all potential music student of any age.
My children have been students at The Musical Arts Institute for 6 years. They have gained knowledge on how to perfect their krafts and developed skills that will help them for the rest of their lives. MAI has become a second family that they learn and are able to express themselves musically. MAI challenges students and encourages them to soar.
Musical Arts Institute is doing great things for youth in and around the communities of Chicago. I have two children that are currently enrolled and they love it. The teachers are very knowledgeable, always professional, and very compassionate toward not only my children but every student that comes through the door. Thank you MAI!!!!!
I am a student of the bass guitar and vocals and a Board Member. The school’s approach to excellence is strictly through its disciplined Instruction.
MAI provides a quality opportunity for the young and mature yo explore and develop talent with the instrument of their choice. It’s all done with live, encouragement and care.
They are an exceptional Music institute. I have seen our son's love of music and playing the piano encouraged and grow as his gift has under their guidance.
I joined the Musical Arts Institute my junior year of high school. I was just starting up my own string ensemble at my school and we were debuting for the first time. At the time, the Musical Arts Institute's string ensemble had joined to help my school ensemble and it all turned out great.
That was the first year of me not being in an ensemble or orchestra outside of school, this was all because of issues with time and then I also stopped attending my private lessons. With the kind of school hours I had AND after school activities, I would be getting home around 8pm or 9pm at the latest (on a regular day).
Mr. Michael Manson from MAI was concerned for my well-being as a violinist and encouraged me to play in the MAI string ensemble. If I joined the string ensemble, that would enable me a scholarship that doesn't have me pay for my private violin lessons. I just had to attend rehearsal once a week every Sunday. I decided to join the following year after consulting with my parents and a friend I had made from the ensemble.
The music was a little challenging for me, especially considering I couldn't make enough practice time for myself. However, I tried to make it work and Mr. Manson and my teacher Ms. Lennette Neal pushed me to be a better musician. They teach you more professional levels of musicianship, push you to be more creative, and all while having fun. I made more friends and saw an old friend from my previous orchestra (the music world is pretty small). And, it meant more being that we were all musicians of color. Mr. Manson made a point of searching for black composers for us to play and expose to our community. I could see how much the students and their parents really enjoy hearing from the Musical Arts Institute as a whole.
Overall, I had a great experience. I wish I would've known and joined sooner.
My 5 star rating has no boundaries! When it comes to the successful stories of Musical Arts Institute here in Chicago, Illinois. This Husband and Wife team, Michael and Lana Manson, have gone beyond expectations; with a robust educational plan in music. I firmly believe in the educational process and the plans provided by Michael and Lana, because their success stories have gone leaps and bounds, in terms of college preparatory; and a holistic outlook on life in general. I would hope to see more aggressive funding coming to MAI and in the arts; to help steer our children by way of good education in music and beyond...

The Musical Arts Institute -
Michael and Lana Manson, have successfully created the right formula, to address inner-city youth issues, here in Chicago. The experience of a musical education, helps students to better prepare for college! In fact many students, have chosen other professions, as other career choices of interest, after entering into college. However, this option is provided by way of the motivated efforts of the Musical Arts Institute experience. With precision focus, a musical education, has a proven pathway in helping to guide our missed guided, and under-educated youth of today! These students, who are engaged in music, are well motivated and prepared through the Musical Arts Institute, holistic experience.
Last, The Musical Arts Institute, can not do this alone.
We need, Sustainability, Partnerships, and Corporate, entities, to continue our successful mission, in helping our inner-city youth, to become great agents of change...

What an awesome organization! MAI has been an asset and an inspiration not only for our daughter and us but also for many young people, especially people of color, across the Chicagoland area. Open and accessible to all, MAI is an oasis for youth and adults alike who are discovering and developing their musical and artistic talents. Vocalists and instrumentalists are continually emerging from and thru this organization. Excellence is part of the mantra of MAI. The Directors, instructors, and staff are genuinely invested in the lives of those who grace their doorstep. I would recommend MAI highly to anyone who is seeking a place to grow and maximize their skillset in the musical arts! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I most assuredly would!
Musical Arts Institute is a premier music arts program, specializing in providimg expert and professional music instruction and training to students who would otherwise be unable to get this rhpe of trainimg in all forms of music expression, particularly to classical and jazz music. Its instructors are some of the best in the city, who give extensive and in depth trainimg to each student. Mike and Lana Manson have established this school as the place to go to for launching students into successful careers in the arts.
They insist on excellence and demand of each student, their best. Students ger to travel and compete in various competitions and the country, performing at some of the toughest places to play and sing. This school shows to young African American music students, what's possible and that their dreams of becoming successful, professional musicians can be more than just dreams.
I applaud every effort they give to making students top notch performers and educators
Musical Arts Institute (MAI) is a great music school. It provides intensive private and group music training to underprivileged youth and adults in a positive learning environment. Over the past several years, MAI has grown their community engagement efforts to include a number of dedicated school outreach programs.
MAI students and music ensembles have many opportunities to perform in recitals as well as at schools, libraries, churches, senior centers, and other venues throughout the Chicagoland area. Their instructors are all university trained and/or have 15 years or more of performance experience. I highly recommend Musical Arts Institute to those who love music and are dedicated to learning.
I've seen the faces of our children shine. Their spirits have been uplifted and confidence levels have raised considerably. MAI's directors have given of themselves unselfishly. I am encouraged to promote this organization because I see the positive change in the students they serve.
I love the experience of lwarning with others and having a great instructor, Michael Manson, to guide me along the way.
The Musical Arts Institute has been a blessing! When my grandson entered high school two years ago, his misic class was the introduction of his first hands on experience with musical instruments. He chose the violin but his class was not enough. He really wanted to play the violin. I searched websites and asked friends about where he could take violin lessons. The Musical Arts Institute came highly recommended and I could not be more pleased. I am amazed at his progress since being a student at MAI. He has had excellent instruction and scheduling of sessions, particularly make up sessions, are accommodating. Individual instruction is awesome, but being able to participate in the ensemble on Sunday evenings is priceless. At MAI you walk into an atmosphere of professionalism, calm, and a since of belonging. If you desire to learn how to play an instrument or develop your voice to become the vocalist you image. I recommend the Musical Arts Institute.
This has been a wonderful experience for my daughter to be apart of. She has always had a love of playing the violin but playing with this elite group has tripled her enjoyment. The dynamics of instruction and talent combined is phenomenal! This organization has been a blessing to be a part of in addition to the wonderful sounds they produce.
I joined MAI about a year and a half ago, and I have to say this has been the best musical experience I have ever had. Before MAI I had never played a musical instrument. Now I am progressing in my music and becoming better and better as the days go by. None of this would’ve happened without MAI. The instructions at MAI are amazing, and really pushes MAI students to make the best out of their music.
I have been studying as a violinist at the Musical Art Institute for 6 years and I have grown so much as a artist and person since studying there. The attention and instruction I have received as a student has been extremely helpful and meaningful.
I've taken been apart of Musical Arts Institute for about 3 years and it has been a great way to build upon and refine my musical skills. The string ensemble is one of the best black youth chamber groups in Chicago and I'm glad to be apart of it. The teachers here are great and very inspiring. This school certainly is up there rank wise in terms of music schools in Chicago.
Musical Arts Institute has been a great help to me. I have met some of my best friends here and played music with them around the city of Chicago. It has helped me with my life goal of becoming a great musician that travels around the world. Without this school, I would not be the musician that I am today. Musical Arts Institute will always hold a special place in my heart.
My son has been taking piano lesson for five years. It's been a great experience working with the Musical Arts Institute. All the instructors are very knowledgeable in their field and supportive to the students. I recommend the school for anyone interested in learning any musical instrument.
The arts play such an important role in the development of our children--their thinking, problem solving, self esteem and even the way they present themselves to the world. Unfortunately, because it is so misunderstood, the arts are also one of the first things to be cut from our schools' curriculum.
The Musical Arts Institute has brought not only an otherwise missing art form to our children, but instills the importance of excellence that translates into all the other areas of their lives--I've seen it in my own child! MAI is a jewel in our community. I hope that they will be here to enrich our children for many years to come!
My family loves Musical Arts Institute. All of our children have had lessons (piano, violin, and voice) and thrived with the excellent instruction and comfortable atmosphere. I have also used MAI students to provide music for the Illinois Judicial Council and other professional organizations and they were as good if not better than the professionals that we have hired in the past.
Musical Arts Institute is an amazing place. The instructors are high quality, caring and sincere.
The teaching artists are involved with the growth and success of the students and school. The school is a gem to the community. Students are encouraged and pushed to excel in the music arts. I am proud to have two children at the school.
My 16 year old took an interest in lead guitar from a video game. I decided to have him take lessons from MAI and and I have known the owner Mike Manson for years as the baddest bass player ever. There was no doubt in my mind that having my son take lessons at MAI would be a great decision. I have not been disappointed and the progress my son has made over the past few months is phenomenal I would recommend this school to anyone who is the least bit interested in music for any instrument and even vocal..
The experience here at the Musical Art Institute has been a most wonderful journey in the music field for my grandson to bring out the musical creativity that is in him. If you are planning or looking for a music school I recommend MAI.
The Musical Arts Institute really helped me become a much more proficient trombone player and I really needed it especially since I go to ChiArts, which is a performing arts high school here in Chicago. The help I receive from my private lessons teacher helps me with all the music I see from school. Me, family, and friends all noticed improvements in how I play and thats because of my work, but also the environment here at the Musical Arts Institute.
At first I thought I didn't need lessons. I thought that my playing was already at it's peak. But, after coming to the Musical Arts Institute, I learned I was extremely far from what I thought. I learned how difficult it was for me to play with two hands. My teacher Ms. Lindsey helped me improve a lot with using both hands on the piano. But, even with all my experience, simple looking songs were surprisingly difficult to actually play. I was surprised with how much I did not know about playing the piano. I now know that I have learned a lot and still have a lot to learn. I am glad that I came to the Musical Arts Institute to greatly improve my abilities.
I have two children taking music lesson with Mr. Manson, the school has helped them a lot in developing their music skills. Mr. Manson is very patient with them and has taught them how to read music, which they did not know prior to attending the school which was done quickly. What I like most about this school is the ability to play all kinds of music. Musical Arts Institute is a great school to attend if you wish to see growth with your child/children they will be groom to be an excellent musician. The school has high expectations for all students. Mr. Manson, shows a lot of concern for the kids and goes out of his way to meet every child needs to make sure they have a pleasant experience at the school. I recommend this school to everyone.
My daughter loves music and asked for me to sign her up for voice lessons. The transformation in her once quiet voice, which now fills the room is absolutely amazing. She is learning about technique and her voice as an instrument. The Musical Arts Institute has helped her to gain both confidence and provided for her a nurturing environment to develop her talent. I would highly recommend the school to any parent.
Being a student at Musical Arts Institute for many years now, I have grown so much in regards to learning and experience in the music field. All of the instructors that I have been in contact with have helped me in tremendous way to exceed in music. I have recieved so many opportunities being a part of this organization. I sang with an amazing saxophonist, Kirk Whalm. Along with so many other events I have participated in, above all I have a expanded my horizon as far a music as a whole.
I have been attending Musical Arts Institute for about 3 and a half years. From the time I started to now, I feel I have truly grown with my musicianship and musical knowledge overall. My music teachers are Ms. Lana Manson and Mr. Michael Manson and they have both been very supportive of me with every lesson. I have learned much repertoire in Italian songs and spirituals in my vocal lessons which helped me get into my dream high school, ChiArts. I have learned scales and bass fitness in my bass guitar lessons. MAI has taught me to be confident and expressive with my music and to just make it my own when I perform. I love the performance opportunities they provide throughout the year. It's a really warm and hardworking place for anyone, any age, wanting to soar in this art. They also are preparing me for college.
I have 2 sons that attend the Musical Arts Institute. My oldest son Jared is 15 years old and he plays the trombone. My youngest son Jasiah is 13 years old and he plays the piano. My sons have been taking lessons at the Musical Arts Institute for more than a year now, and I am so impressed with the progress that both of them have made so far. The Musical Arts Institute has a very home-like atmosphere and all the instructors are very professional and down to earth. My husband and I have made a great choice in choosing Musical Arts Institute as a place where our sons are not only learning how to play music, but they are getting educated in the theory of music as well. Kudos to Mr. and Mrs. Manson for opening this school and to Mr Berry and Mrs. Lindsey for being great instructors!!! We are very satisfied with the
Musical Arts Institute.
My son, Maxwell, is learning to play the viola with Michael Manson at Musical Arts Institute (MAI). My husband and I wanted our son to learn to play an instrument in an effort to increase his ability to focus as well as his determination to learn new skills. Maxwell's experience with MAI has exceeded our expectations. Maxwell is learning to play the viola, attending lessons and practicing at home with great ease. This has also translated into him starting his homework on his own and taking more ownership of his elementary school education.
I must also praise the teachers and staff at MAI, they are consistently pleasant and informative. It is simply a wonderful, approachable experience. I highly recommend MAI for anyone--young and not-so-young--who would like to learn to play an instrument and/or receive voice lessons.
I consider it a great honor to write a review for Musical Arts Institute. About a year ago my husband and I were looking for a music program for our daughter. Fortunately, we found MAI for piano and vocal training. The Manson's are outstanding in the area a music theory, music instruction, and excellence in stage performance. Our daughter enjoys learning music in an environment that is kind and nurturing. She has had many opportunities to grow and learn in professional settings with world celebrated musicians and vocalists. She is totally engaged in the lessons with instructors. As parents who are constantly trying to expose our little one to new experiences.....we are so blessed to have found this wonderful jewel right here in our Chicago community! We absolutely love MAi:)
My daughter takes guitar lessons at the MAI. She has really grown in her abilities, and her lessons have helped in other areas (academically, cognitively, etc.). I love that she's also learning music theory, reading and writing music, and receives progress reports from her instructor, which helps a lot with her growth and accountability.
All of the staff at the MAI are music professionals, so substitutions are never a problem if needed, and my daughter learns from everyone, as well as the other students. I strongly believe in arts education, and the training she receives at the MAI, I believe, is superior and will benefit her for life.
i've taken voice lessons from other people before, and they were good. However, there was something a little different about my lessons at the Musical Arts Institute. Lana, my vocal coach, has so much passion and excitement. Lana doesn't rush me through my sessions. She has taken her time to teach and explain the basics and foundation of singing. She pushes and encourages me.
The Musical Arts Institute has saved my life. I received a gift certificate from a special friend for voice lessons. I never would have thought it would has been used as a therapy session. Taking voice lessons from Lana has encouraged me there is no goal that can not be achieved, MAI strives for excellence in the Arts. It's not just another music school, it's a ministry within the African American Community.
Thanks Micheal and Lana Manson for sharing your gift. Thank you for giving people the opportunity to live their dreams through the Arts,
I am very pleased with the quality of service that my son, Malcolm receives at MAI. His instrument of choice is the Bass and Mr. Manson is excellent with him as well as patient. I have no complaints and look forward to the next session when my son can begin keyboards.
My daughter Brielle is a junior in High school and is one of Musical Arts Institute students. I was very pleased with the school and the great improvements that she has accomplished with her violin sessions. I highly recommend this school to parents who are interested in placing their children in one of the schools various classes. The staff is wonderful, the prices are very affordable and the staff really work with you to accommodate working parents schedule. The school also caters to adults who are beginners in music and want to learn how to play various instruments or take vocal lessons.
Musical Arts Institute has been a god send for our family. My girls have been involved in several musical programs throughout the city (classical and jazz). It is wonderful to have a program of this caliber in our "backyard." The directors, instructors and staff treat the children like family. More importantly, they help them to understand performance perfection, musicality, and theory. I am a MAI evangelist!
MAI has truly been and inspiration to my daughter. Participating in this program she has become more serious regarding her violin playing and perfecting her craft. She has also became a more serious academic student as well. The changes I see in her includes increase confidence, creativity and being more out going. Being a part of MAI has started some habits that she will carry with her for a life time, some habits she will go out into the world and grow positively. Thanks MAI for helping me lay a strong and positive foundation.
My experience at MAI has been a dream come true! The school's environment is relaxing without compromising a pedagogical style that challenges each student to embrace excellence! The entire staff, (from the receptionist to the instructors), is competent and genuinely concerned about our academic success and personal wellbeing. I'm a singer, currently enrolled in 3 classes: piano, theory and voice. "Manson's Rules" consider the student's musical background and cultural awareness: a perfect approach for me to embrace and apply new knowledge! I'm so excited to become musically literate as MAI equips me to be a better musician!
The Musical Arts Institute is a hidden secret on the south side of Chicago. It is rare to find people that are passionate about the arts, specifically music, and they want to share their expertise, time and talent with our future, our youth. We were first introduced to the Manson's through a mentoring program that our oldest daughter participated in. It was at that program that Mike and Lana saw a "gift" in our daughter.
Since that time, our oldest daughter has developed so vocally that Mrs. Manson now has her on what she calls her "Senior Track" and she is just a Junior. Since being in the program, our daughter has learned to sing in 2 additional languages and she is now competing for national programs. It is because of the coaching and support given by the Manson's and the entire Musical Arts Institute staff that brings about success.
Since being with the program, we have recommended several youth to the program and they are extremely pleased as well.
This past summer, I decided to learn how to play the electric bass guitar. At 47 years old, I am just learning to read music and play an instrument. I want something fun and challenging, The teachers made this to be the best experience for me. I enjoy making mistakes and learning from them. I am positive that I will be able to play bass in one year. I am around a supportive and talented staff. They make me feel comfortable learning at this late age.
My daughter started Musical Arts two years and the progress that she has made is incredible. The sacrifice and determination it takes is demanding on both her and I. This is an institute of higher learning for her future and the dedication it takes will enhance her ability to share/ make music for the world. Musical Arts Institute has awarded her a scholarship for piano and music theory classes for better understanding. Instructors are professional and patient willing to help in every way possible. Encouragement and praises are given for a better performer. Kudos to Musical Arts Institute
Melanie & Maryah
This program is more than good, it is outstanding!!!! In a day and time when music has been removed from many schools, please know that all is not lost... MAI offers the perfect solution!!! My daughter attends a private school that offers music and art, but her school does not have an orchestra. Since my child plays violin, she needed to be in a group with stringed instruments. I was elated when I discovered MAI and have been quite pleased with the program. Not only are the founders musically talented, their daughter is a little musical genius! If my child continues to be surrounded by such great talent, of course I know that it will rub off on her!!! Greatness begets Greatness!!!!
My daughter has grown tremendously, in music theory and vocals and bass guitar, since coming to Musical Art Institute. The staff really cares about her and her future endeavors as a musician. They truly believe in a complete musical education and experience. They are supporting our family by helping make sure she is prepared for college (their goal is to help her get college scholarships). I would absolutely recommend MAI to anyone who is serious about mastering the craft of music.
The Musical Arts Institute (MAI) is changing lives on the Southside of Chicago! By providing music instruction for youth, MAI compensates for a critical element that is missing in public schools today. Learning music is only the tip of the iceberg. MAI's music instruction causes the students to be exposed to other languages, world history, geography, and math to name a few disciplines. And speaking of discipline, the school helps students build study skills and demonstrates how hard work pays off. Mike and Lana Manson are doing a fantastic job! I am honored to be a Board Member (and one of the adult students at MAI).
I am so proud to be associated with the Musical Art Institute (MAI). As a Board member, I have seen first-hand the musical impact they have had on students of all ages, including families and the community. MAI is one of the best musical schools to breakthrough in the Chicago area in recent years. Their instructors and staff have passion for their students and are dictated to the community they serve. Their staff is highly qualified and all are professional musicians.
Michael and Lana Manson, the directors, could have opened the school in the suburbs where they grew and live. However, they chose to open the school in the inner city of Chicago, where the need is greater. As a result, they are able to offer musical training to those that may not otherwise be able to afford it or have the artistic experience of the musical arts.
I plan to continue to contribute my time and resources to this much needed organization.
I was honored when asked to become a part of the Musical Arts Institute. There is a genuine desire to mold students into proficient artist in the field of music. Mike and Lana Manson have a heartfelt desire to instill in students the same level of excellence that they are known for.
i am so proud to be associated with this organization. to see the young students perform and to watch their growth is a wonderful experience for me.
My son real enjoy himself when he, is here. Davione choir teacher told me he would be awesome because he has ADD which has help him in school also at home. Music arts institute has help me a great deal to help my son deal with his ADD i'm really greatfully to his choir teacher for her help with him.
The musical arts institute has offered me a golden opportunity to express my feelings in song. I love singing but in order to project my voice to its corrective range, voice lessen has taught me ranges I never new I had. I use to sing in my comfort level which in the past was fine, but learning how to sing the right way has open up venues that I had only dream of involving myself in.
I wanted to start back playing the violin. I started playing in high school but the program was canceled. I took lessons on and off but either I couldn't afford lesson, or the instructor wasn't a match for me. However, The Musical Arts Institute provides a convenient location, is affordable, flexible, and the instructor is a good match for me.
My daughter goes to the school they are excellent everyone is friendly and very strategic in the furthering of education and musical education. I have noticed a change in how my daughter learns and operates in school. I am very happy with the school.
The Musical Arts Institute is a wonderful school for learning music. The staff is highly qualified. All musical instruments are taught as well as vocal studies by music industry experts. Being a board member allows me to help MAI provide musical training to students to pursue their dreams. By supporting MAI, I see first hand the impact of grassroots efforts in filling the gaps left by budget cuts and the lack of resources for children in areas of Chicago.
I am a student at MAI. I receive private lessons for electric bass and am currently enrolled in the beginners theory class. My skill level has already increased since June 2012. My knowledge has been greatly increased. My professor Mr. Manson is gifted to teach. I will forever be greatful for his patience , talent and professionalism. I have progressed so much, my wife is now taken voice lessons. She loves her professor as well.
My experience with MAI is borderline life changing. The receptionist warmly greets you with a pleasant smile and professionalism. My voice instructor, Mrs. Manson, challenges you to strive for your best. She has the ability to see your potential and occasionally bring other instructors or advanced students along side her to help you recognize/strive for your best. Your growth is a community effort. Each session brings on a new and rewarding ah ha moment. I highly recommend MAI .
My son Jeffrey has always wanted to play the bass guitar so we wanted to find somewhere that would really teach him correctly. We found the Musical Arts Institute and we were impressed that Michael Manson was the Director along with his wife. We were further impressed by the fact that Michael Manson would be teaching our son personally. In just a few short months our son has started to play music and has started to read as well. We feel extremely blessed that our child is receiving quality training by professional musicians. The staff are professional and are all very accomplished musicians. I would and have strongly recommended MAI to all of my musician friends. MAI could have been in any sububan area but they elected to open there school in the inner city and offer the gift of music to those that may not be able to afford it. This shows the level of commitment and the character of the Mansons and their staff.
My daughter has been a viola student at the Musical Arts Institute for over a year, and I cannot say enough great things!!! MAI has the best, most knowledgeable instructors that can not only educate in theory, but also in performance, because they are all incredible, accomplished performers in their own right. I absolutely love and appreciate how nurturing the instructors are, and they never hesitate to go the extra mile to push students to reach their highest potential. This organization is definitely a blessing to the community, and to all the students that come through the doors! If you are serious about music, whether you are a beginner, or preparing for the next level in your professional career, the Musical Arts Institute is the place to be!!!
My name is Keith Morris, and I have known the Manson's for many years. I have always found them to be music lovers. I met the Manson's when I joined my wife's church as they were the music directors. When our daughter, Keita, grew to be 4 years old she became a student under the tutelage of the Manson’s learning the violin. Michael didn't charge us anything, and I new then he truly wanted to teach the art and it wasn’t about money. Since then, Keita has continued to take lessons, practice regularly, and has become a member in the MAI String Ensemble. My wife Deloris and I believe in Mike, Lana, and the Musical Arts Institute’s mission to teach music.
