Mission: Eif envisions a world where every young person has the opportunity to pursue a college education and a rewarding career. Eif provides students with the tools needed to successfully graduate from high school, attend and graduate from college, and pursue a rewarding career.
Programs: The high school/middle school program: on-campus higher education advisors provide one-on-one interactive sessions to guide students through comprehensive college application, enrollment and funding processes. Students have access to advisors daily during the school year. With this support, a college-going community is created among greatly under-served students who will most likely be the first in their families to go to college. To date, over 157,000 students and their families have completed the college process. Eif was awarded as one of the 10 best college access organizations in the country by the education policy institute. The national college access network gave eif their award of excellence.
the mayor's intern fellows program: with this eif-developed program, eif partners with the dallas mayor's office to provide paid summer internships with dallas' top companies and organizations to foster comprehensive job skills training and professional development. Along with providing the internships, eif has facilitated over 22,000 hours of workforce development training. The belief is that with career exposure, workforce readiness skills, and postsecondary education, these students will become productive members of the workforce, and thus, the community.
eif scholars program: the scholars program, a year-long enrichment program for first generation college students, culminates in an evening with the stars scholarship reception during which scholarships are awarded to dallas' brightest. Scholars must be at the top of their class and enrolled in course work which will prepare them for college, such as advanced placement courses. The program challenges our students to apply to the country's most competitive and comprehensive universities through enriching leadership skills, community service, and student development. In the 2016-2017 school year, participants had a college enrollment rate of 99%.
