This is a charity I absolutely would donate to. They are great at what they do and they make sure the proceeds stay here in America. Not sending the money to other countries like other car donation programs. Do your research and make sure you're donation to the correct cars for kids. Not the one with that awful jingle.

Sad to see a lot of the good vehicles with dealer buyer only. This use to be a good place for people with low income to acquire a low-cost automobile.

I donated my 2012 BMW to this organization after I had an engine failure and the cost to repair exceeded the value of the vehicle. The donation process was simple, quick and professional. They picked up my car the same day and I received updates throughout the process. I feel good about my donation to help kids in need and I got a fair tax donation. I would recommend this organization to anyone who has a large asset to dispose of.

My family has both donated and purchased with this charity. But lately I am unimpressed with the bidding and purchasing side of this I’ve noticed Dealer only labels on many of the vehicles. This undermines the other charitable aspect of your auction, the potential repairable, affordable vehicle to someone in need, while the goal is to aid in education many people look to find a vehicle they can afford and repair without having to be abused by a high interest overpriced vehicle through a dealer. We will definitely have to consider other options for our next donation.

Brakes froze on my van. I left it at NTB and called American Can Cars for Kids to pick it up. They did so in a timely matter and sent me information for a tax break. This is the 3rd car thru the years that we have donated to them. Very pleased every time. Needless to say we drive our cars until they are undriveable then they go to ACCfK. Very rewarding.

I've donated several cars over the past twenty years. I feel it's better than selling an inoperable or repairable vehicle to a shop or wrecking yard. The money they get from that vehicle directly benefits the kids. Without the kids getting a break in a tough world from the people at America Can Cars for Kids (or as I call it Can Academy) they would have to face the future without the advantages of education. I have two degrees. I went in the military after High School to get the VA educational benefits. I'm not from a wealthy family. I was 18 but these kids are younger. So I'll help again if I can. I'm near retirement but that won't stop me. So do something with that vehicle collecting dust. Donate it to these people so they can make a difference in some more kid's lives. It's so worth it!

Cars for Kids has been a tremendous organization and partner to work alongside with! Their passion and dedication to helping kids within our community is unmatched. I've had a number of friends who have donated their vehicles to Cars for Kids and they have all had wonderful experiences!

We've donated two vehicles to Cars For Kids because your donation stays in your community and helps so many young men and women. Each time, the process was simple and easy and we feel great about helping such a worthwhile organization. We've known families who have been impacted by the Academies and what they're doing is life-changing. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! It's a blessing to be a blessing to families here in North Texas.

We tried using this service but found them to be unhelpful and very poor in communication.. We ended up using WABE, the NPR station in Atlanta and the process was easy and smooth.

Selling cars is not for the kids anymore. Prices to buy a car has tripled since last time I purchased or sold. Don’t deal with American can cars anymore.

This organization is an honest organization who auction cars with transparency about what the car needs. Each car that my husband and I have bought from Cars for Kids have been for a fair price for us. Knowing that buying from them will help benefit our younger generations makes our decision to buy from them an easy decision. We are hoping for the opportunity to be able to donate our car to them in the future.

To make a long story short, I can no longer drive and wanted my old car to have a new home.

To expand upon this, here is the longer version: I purchased this 1995 Chrysler LHS when it hit the market. I was a recent widow, my husband and I had been saving toward a new car, so after tying up loose ends and upon the advice of a nun/friend, who just happened to be a psychologist, I went car-shopping. I test-drove cars in three cities, including the small town in which I live. I made the decision to buy this car locally, and never had one regret. It was the first time I had ever purchased a car alone, and I knew it was right for me. It has all the bells and whistles of that day, including automatic climate control (just set the desired temperature and forget it), CD player with six-speaker surround sound, digital message center to let me know various items of information such as time/temperature, DTE (Distance to Empty fuel), direction, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed cruising in this car for many years, and could have had the starter replaced in order to get it back on the road. However, with a car this age, one never knows what one might encounter when having it repaired (hoses, belts, etc.), so since I could no longer drive (severe spinal stenosis) and have a willing husband who will take me anywhere I need/want to go in our newer Acadia Denali, I decided not to try and sell the Chrysler, but donate it to Cars for Kids. I could have had the starter replaced in an effort to get the car back on the road, but with a car this age, who knows what else might have been found in need of replacement? Hose, belts, etc. do deteriorate with age, after all. It could have been a simple replacement that my husband could have taken care of with the right part (that could be a problem in and of itself), then sold for what the Kelly Blue Book tells me could be approximately $1,000-$1,200, but I felt that if it's all it needs, then it would be a great car for someone who really needs it and possibly help some deserving child in the process. As I mentioned to Mr. Weatherwax, there are too many children getting a raw deal in THIS country, our "Land of Plenty".

I made a call to the organization, received a return call within about 20 minutes, this nice lady asked me to sign the title to the car, take a picture both front and back, send it to her, and that was all I needed to do. In just two days, I received a call from the driver of the truck who was to haul my car to an auction house about 75 miles away, he picked it up promptly, and that was that. It was quick, easy, efficient and painless on my part. The confirmation letter I received from one Colin Weatherwax was so kind, so thoughtful and caring. He let me know of HIS appreciation of this donation in a beautiful way.

While I may have had mixed feelings as the car left my yard, I am very happy with my decision to donate to Cars for Kids, and would recommend them to anyone who has a car to dispose of.

This experience was not as it was advertised. The process was very disorganized from the CarsforKids and their 3rd party group that actually picks up the donated vehicle. During this process they had the wrong vehicle and claim number, failed to timely correct the issue, had poor communication regarding the process, and could not locate my name in the system. The auction price was much lower than anticipated and our donated vehicle was in really good shape with new tires. Very disappointing experience! Throughout the process, I had to continually initiate contact in order to keep communication lines going about the donation. Would not recommend going this route, I will not again.

I have donated 2 vehicles to Texas Can - Car for Kids and it was one of the easiest donations I have ever made. They make is so easy on the person donating. I refer them to others.

I called this nonprofit in order to get my son's car removed from his parking space since the car was inoperable. The person that took the call was very nice and scheduled the car to be picked up within a day. They arrived within the time frame given to me. The tow truck driver was also pleasant. I gave him the keys and title and he removed the car from the premises. It was a big relief for me. Within a few weeks I received a tax form with the amount the car donation was worth. It was icing on the cake. I would highly recommend them.

The entire process of donating my vehicle was effortless and seamless. I was updated as to what I needed to do and what to expect from the time I called to donate to the car being picked up.

Texans Can was great to work with. They helped me through the entire process, had wonderful follow-up and follow through on some challenges;however they knew exactly what to do to make the process incredibly simple.

My 10 year old car was towed to the repair shop and then we decided not to invest anymore money to repair it. I went online to donate the car and within minutes a friendly representative from Texans Can- Cars for Kids called to complete the donation. It took only a few short minutes to collect all the info on my car, make arrangements for the title and car to be released to them. Within weeks I was notified that the car had been sold at auction for WAY more than the dealership had offered as a trade in value. This is my second car to donate to this organization and BOTH experiences exceeded my expectations!

From the beginning of the donation process everything went smooth and quick. Everyone I spoke with was very kind and gracious. The transaction was recorded and a copy sent to me for tax records. I am very happy that a well used and worn out automobile can get another life helping others.

Had an old jet ski in my garage for a number of years. Thought the kids would one day take it off our hand, no such luck. Fortunately Texan Can Cars for Kids came to the rescue. With one call the folks at TCCFK graciously accepted my offer of a donation of this jet ski. I filled out a questionnaire provided photos of our donation items and within no time we had established a pickup time. The gentlemen that came out to pick up the jet ski was very professional and made this transaction very simple.

I would highly recommend that anyone having a car or any other item that can be sold at auction consider donating these item(s) to Texans Can - Cars for Kids.

The engine on our Civic overheated and cracked the engine block. With 150,000+ miles on the odometer we would be lucky to get $500 for a trade-in. I contacted Texans Can. They were courteous and professional. They handled all the steps necessary to transfer the car. I have a tax writeoff for more than 3 times what the dealership would have given me. I will happily recommend this organization to anyone.

It was an excellent experience. Everything was exactly as I was told that it would be done. Would definitely do it again!!

Heard about them on KRLD radio on a promotion for two Texas Ranger Baseball tickets or a $50 gift card when you donate your car. I did and did not receive it, Very sad. If you orffer an incentive you should follow through.

The people at Texans Can were great, very helpful and made sure the whole transaction was smooth and as little effort on our part as possible. Great communication and follow through. I have no regrets whatsoever and would recommend them to anyone who ha s a vehicle they need to get rid of.

What a great charity! They promptly sent a tow truck the very next day (at my convenience) to collect two disabled vehicles, everyone I encountered was very friendly, helpful and courteous. They gave me a very fair charitable donation value and a $50 gift card! The best part though is that I know that I am making a difference in a young person's life. They take the donated cars and use the money to help struggling, impoverished adolescents rejoin school and earn their diploma. The success rate of this charity is very high and the people truly care about making a difference. If you have an unused car or simply want to make a donation, you can't go wrong with Houston Can! Academy.

I have never seen a group of people like the Texans can group that works so hard for its kids. The entire team has a bull’s-eye focus on making sure these kids get that education.

I had a great experience with Dallas Can Academy! Everyone was very nice and accommodating. They answered all my questions and were responsive to my calls.

I chose this charity because I wanted to give some one a chance.
But at the same time to be treated fairly.
The process was very simple and scheduling the pick up and actual pick up was all very smooth.
I have a feeling of not being given a fair amount of deduction than I should have got.
WHY do they send a standard form of $500 deduction 1098 form for all the cars you donate even though they say that you will get whatever it is sold for ?
When I asked later by emailing them they revised the amount to $900.00 and sent me another form 1098.
They could this in the very first instance - I think being cheated for a working car that I donated even at $900.

I decided to donate my car on one day and by that weekend it had been picked up! The entire process was simple, online and on the phone, with everything done cleanly and accurately. Easiest process there is and a fantastic program to support!

My Dad's truck had been sitting the driveway for years. He wanted to sell it, I kept telling him to donate it, that it would be easier than going through a sale. He finally decided to go with the donation. I filled out the application online on a Saturday and about 15 minutes later we received a call from a representative from Texans Can Academy to schedule the pickup for the following Monday. No problem at all. Quick and painless.

The donation was simple and timely. It was the third time I donated a car and each time it was a great experience.

The online donation is straight forward and easy to fill out. I received a call from the organization almost immediately after submitting the online form, and the representative (Lilliana) was very helpful with filling out the necessary paperwork. The tow company contacted me within a couple of hours and I was able to get my car picked up the very same day. Very prompt service, bravo!

After doing a lot of research, we selected Cars for Kids as our organization of choice. I am so glad we did! The website alone provides all of the needed information including a online donation form. Within a few hours, a friendly and patient representative called to confirm the details. A tow truck driver arrived first thing the next morning! I could not be more pleased with my experience. The experience was extremely easy. After calling, they set up a time to pick up the car and did so promptly. The car was in fairly good condition and it was conveyed to me that I could request the Kelly Blue Book value for my tax deduction, instead of the typical $500 tax deduction. Doing so added some value to my tax return. They filed the proper forms with the IRS and sent me my form as well, stating the value of the car. I highly recommend if you are considering this path.

First time to donate a car to any charity. It was much better than the usual hassel of trading it in and listening to the insulting low figures they throw at you. This time I felt really GOOD because someone would have a learning experience doing the minor repairs, and another would reap the benefit from those repairs. We were pleased overall with the process of donating a car. However, the "free vacation" thank you was very lame. I would rather receive a nice thank you card than a "pay us over $200 to activate your "free" vacation options". That cheapened the experience for us.

I have donated vehicles three times to Texas Can and it has always been a good experience. I've chosen Cars for Kids three times over the years to donate a used car, most recently a few months ago. The staff has always been pleasant and professional. My vehicles were picked up on time and the paperwork has been sent in a timely manner. Giving to a worthy cause is easier when the organization is well run. I feel my donations have been used for the intended purpose of helping kids in need.

I chose Cars for Kids because I believe in second and third chances.
I was not very pleased with the organization's organizational skills. No one seemed to know what their role was and they didn't communicate with each other and seemed frustrated with their jobs.
I was contacted by a couple of different people that were "cold calls" because I had donated. None of them had any background and I found myself explaning things multiple times.

Scheduling the pickup of the vehicle was easy- actually getting it picked up was a hassle.

I will donate to the Salvation Army next time.

I chose Cars for Kids because about 6 years ago I met a graduate from their school. He was looking for a job at the library that served his neighborhood/community. He presented himself very well; very articulate, and proud to be a product of this academy; he had a ready-to-work attitude. I was very impressed with him that when it came to donate my used car, the Cars for Kids was my first and only choice.
The donation process was very quick. This was a donation during the holidays and I thought that I would not hear from them until after the holidays. But I got a response very fast, polite, with an explanation of the process, pickup, and tax forms. A few questions were asked and the process was begun. At the appointed pick-up day, the tow truck driver called to let me know that he was on his way. He was very polite and professional with the paperwork and documentation. He let me take some pictures of the donated car on the tow truck. My tax forms were received in a timely manner.

I have donated cars to other worthy organizations. But after seeing the result of Cars for Kids upon meeting one of their graduates, it will continue to be my first choice for a donation.

Upon hearing your ad on WFAA I thought this would be a way to help the kids in 2012. I had never donated a car before and I must say my experience left me with a very negative impression. While talking with the office to arrange for the donation, I was never thanked by anyone. It was amazing to me that no one from the office would say thank you and/or appreciate the donation. They acted like it was a bother to them and that they really didn't need the donation. They did say that I would receive a couple of tickets to a Mavericks game. The tickets arrived in the mail a week after the date of the game. I would not recommend donating to this organization. There are so many other organizations that really appreciate donors why help those that don't really appreciate it.

We have donated a couple of vehicles and the process is quick and easy. Hauler showed up on time, paperwork was quick, and the vehicles were gone. Received tax documents in a short amount of time and at a fair price. I will do it again given the opportunity.

Great organization!
They are quick to respond either from online inquiries or phone. The process of donating a vehicle was quick and easy. They usually come the next day to pick up the vehicle. Paperwork is completed in a timely manner and you have all the documents for tax purposes.
I would highly recommend this organization for making a difference in keeping kids in school and giving them the education they deserve.

We donated our Aviator to Cars for Kids and I can say with absolute sincerity they handled everything with a tremendous sense of professionalism. It's not often in todays world that people meet high expectations, but they did and exceeded in every way! An awesome organization from top to bottom!

This is a 1st time that I donated my Honda Accord 1998 to this charity. Their service is great with a great professionalism. I strongly recommend others to donate their old cars to this charity to help the kids in education.

I had been to a few of their auctions when they had a branch in Dallas. That's how I knew about them, that and the Randy Galloway ads.

I called them to donate my old Honda, they set an appointment, picked up the car, left me a receipt. Very quick and easy process.

I am a retired social worker, so I knew about this organization. I have donated 2 cars to Cars for Kids. I believe that the proceeds from this organization go directly to the clients served. Also, the donation was handled in a fast and thorough manner.

Our "Betsy" need more work than we were willing to put into her. Still, we knew in donating it to Cars For Kids, she could help others. The value of the car was less than $1,000, but that money goes directly toward helping students succeed.

I've heard about Cars for Kids for years and when we it was time to get rid of our 1995 Dodge Stealth, I knew exactly what I would do - - donate it to Cars for Kids. The process was very easy, professional and quick. Arrangements were made to pick up the car and we had our receipt within a couple of weeks. I'm glad our donation will help youth continue their education so they have the opportunity to make the most of their lives.

We have donated 5 cars (two jaguars and an Audi and two mini vans) to Cars for Kids and will continue to do so as we get new cars. They are very professional, handle everything perfectly, send tax forms promptly and goes to a great cause.

Our car died in Decatur. We were driving to the grandparents for Thanksgiving when our car started sounding terrible. My husband tried several things (which did not work). When we arrived at the house it just died. we waited until Friday to take it to a dealership for repair. Hours later we got a phone call that it would cost more to repair than it was worth. my husband rented a car to go home to get our daughter back in time for school. since we had donated cars and a boat before, It was our first choice to dispose of an unwanted car. It was a win-win for everybody. Dallas can cars for kids picked the car up within four hours of our phone call, and the car was sold in time for a wonderful tax deduction (much more than we could sold it for or used as a trade in. I recently donated my car to Dallas CAN Cars for Kids, and they made it a great experience - very grateful and courteous to correspond with and scheduled a quick and very easy pickup! I could not have been happier - I will very definitely be donating to them again when opportunity arises!

I had planned on donating my car to a charity. When I read the information on the Dallas Can Academy, I knew that it was the right place for my car. I had the car for 13 years and absolutely LOVED IT. If they still made them, I would buy one. I was surprised at the selling price of my car and was delighted that it helped Dallas Can Academy. The wrecker driver was so careful and courtious.

I have donated three (3) cars to Can Academy to provide funds to help individuals continue their education. I decided that donating the vehicle allows me to help and at the same time I get a reasonable write off for my federal income tax. The organization is very professional and you can schedule a pickup that is convenient for you. I like the fact that I can take the license plates off the car and not have to worry about someone driving it without registering the vehicle. This happened once before when I traded in a car to a Pontiac dealership in Dallas. The people have been very nice to me and I will do it again. My last donation was two (2) years ago when I donated a Honda Accord.

Cars for Kids made my donation very simple. I called, they scheduled the pick up, came and got the vehicle, gave me my receipt. Called me to see how things went and to inform me my information for the tax write off would be in the mail. I received it, saved it , wrote if off simple as that. I actually bought the vehicle from them so I guess one would say this was a full circle experience.

I donated a car to Texans Can Academies Cars for Kids. They could not have made it an easier more pleasant experience. They scheduled quick pick up, gave me a reciept, sent me an email, kept me updated and sent me my tax paperwork. I needed some follow up information when doing my taxes. Win-Win situation. I had a care that I no longer wanted and Cars for kids took it! Easy process. After one phone call - all was taken care of. Professional and kind people to work with!

The experience was made excellent by the very well versed and very intelligent people who took my call to donate 3 vehicles. My location was 4 hrs away from the nearest CAN Academy and 9.5 hours from the headquarters office. The staff reached over the miles in the snap of a finger and arranged SMOOTHLY for a SMOOTH pick up of the vehicles. Gold stars all the way around.

This was my first car I ever donated, and the process was very simple. The staff at Cars for Kids were very professional and courteous, and explained everything we needed to do. Our car was picked up at the day & time scheduled, and they kept in close contact with the repair shop up until the car was picked up. After the car had been sold, we promptly received our receipt in the mail. I was very pleased with the process.

Donating our car to Cars for Kids was a great experience. Once i completed the online form, i got a call almost immeidately and was given options for pickup. They showed as agreed and the deal was completed.

Great experience. We donated a ski boat which had been in our family since 1984. It brought lifetime memories to all of us. Deciding to donate it was a tough decision but the boat was not being used much anymore.

Cars for Kids made the donation easy. The personnel that answered the phone were knowledgable and kind. The two gentelmen that came to our house to pick up the boat could not have been more professional.

We recently donated a car to Cars for Kids. It was a very easy experience. Once I filled out the online form the pick up was scheduled within a couple of days. They sent an email that explained everything to us, told us the date the car would be auctioned and the probable value of the car. The driver left a receipt when he came to pick it up. Once the car was auctioned, we received a form for our taxes in the mail.

All in all, a very satisfying transaction. I will do it again.

I recently donated my Chevy Tahoe to Cars for Kids. It is the second vechicle that I have donated to this organization. I have been very pleased with them on both occasions. They were always helpful and on time for the pick ups. They answered any questions that I had and sent the receipt to me in a timely manner. I will be looking foward to the next time I have the opportunity to use this organization again. They serve such a great need in our community!!

We donated our Ford Escape to Cars for Kids. The whole experience was well worth it. What a great organization. They were very professional and appreciative. The guy that picked up the car answered all of my questions and the whole process took less than an hour. I would highly recommended them to our friends. Very worthwhile cause.

My experience was great! I donated an old pick up truck that wasn't even running. We had an ice storm on the original pick up date on which I set with Cars for Kids. With the bad weather predicted, I thought it might be better for a tow truck driver to be available to help someone who was stranded instead of showing up and my house to pick up a truck that wasn't running anyway. I called to reschedule the pick up and the customer service representative was very thankful and quickly made other arrangements. I received all the proper paperwork for my taxes promptly. I will certainly recommend Cars for Kids to anyone I know.

I've used this organization twice. Both times they were courteous and helpful on the phone AND the drivers were clean, organized, polite and ON TIME. The office was quick to follow-up with receipts of sale and were always available to answer my questions. Super organization to work with and very open about how the donated vehicles were used to help others. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a worthwhile and honest charity to take a donated vehicle.
