As a principal of an elementary school that serves primarily low SES students, I came to see AVANCE as an invaluable partner. AVANCE works tirelessly to help families develop habits that will guarantee success for their children. You can always tell an AVANCE family at our school. The parents are involved and focused on the success of their children and the children are prepared for rigorous learning. Our school had over 96% of its students qualify for a free or reduced lunch, and yet, year in and year out, our students performed as well or better than students from upper middle class households. AVANCE played an enormous role in creating that culture of success.

When you become a parent you quickly find out that your child did not come with an instruction manual. Every parent needs help and every child needs great parents and opportunities. I cannot think of a better organization that gives parents and children a better AND EARLY opportunity for succuss at school and in life.

My name is Gabriela Elizondo, My Daughter Camilla S. Santana were the last cycle in 2012-2013 Obadiah Knight Pilar Coleman's teacher, for me to have participated in this program was a great experience so far has left me great joys both personally and in my daughter's academic development as on constantly out in the Pre-K, I say my daughter is very advanced in education and behavior and I do not doubt for a moment to tell you that she participated in the Avance Program and a month ago I had a meeting with my current teacher daughter and tells me that in kindergarten is going to refer to a special program for talent children ... so Avance change my life and my daughter and do not doubt for a moment to recommend it widely. I thank you also for all you do for us both great teachers educating parents and educators of children who love what they do and that is appreciated even more.

I attended the AVANCE program in 2012-2013. I was extremely nervous to leave my son in a class room when he was just 2yrs old. let's just say I was the one crying instead of him. For the first few days I would check on him probably every 5 minutes, the teachers would always tell me he was doing fine and that he was happy and how much fun he had with all the kids. Best of all the teachers Pilar Coleman and Eva Caballero would take me pictures and videos so that I would feel better. For that I am beyond grateful. Thanks too them he can speak a lot better now. I cannot wait till my daughter is 3 so she can attend AVANCE. Hopefully the teachers would be the same. THANK YOU for a great program

My son and i attended Avance in 2012-2013, it was the best choice i have ever made. Not only did they help me bea better mom but they helped get my son get prepared for pre kindergarden. I enjoyed every day i attended and so did my son. I cannot foget the joy i had when my son stopped crying after the 3 rd week, it was amazing because we had tried before to get him to go to a part time school but it didnt work out, he would cry the whole 4 hours. To see him happy when after he attended Avance was an experience that i will never forget. Its amazing how those 4 hours he attended Avance made such a difference and impact in his life. He is such a smart kid and he enjoyed attending pre kindergarden the month he was able to attend do to my job and our move. I wishi could have attended another year but do to my job i couldnt. I had tge best teacher Ms. PILAR, She is not just a teacher to us but a friend whom you can talk to and will make you feel better. Thank you Ms. PILI and Avance for giving my son andmyself the opportunity to experience this amazing program. THANK YOU and i will highly recommended.

I'm actually a Child Of A Graduate Mother in Avance (2002-2003), And This program has helped us alot. This program has been the best experience of a life time. My mom has learned how to do stuff with us that will give your attention when my dad had left us back in 2003. Things have change since he left. Moving Place to place, School to School, Money to no money. But the skill my mom was taught at Avance-Dallas kept us going till today. I would highly Suggest joining or a least trying this program. It will change your Childs life.

I attended to AVANCE in 2012-2013 with Ms Quirindongo. That was the best experience I have had based on my girls education. AVANCE teach parents how to get involve in our child's and whole family's life. They teach the kids a lot too. My daughter love to sing on to draw. She remember her teacher Bertha. She wants to go back.
AVANCE also gave me a career experience know I am working as Teacher Assistant thanks to AVANCE they gave me the opportunity to work in a school.

Adan Gonzalez attended the Avance Dallas program as a toddler with his mom the first year we offered our program in 1996–1997. Today, he is a portrait of the best of students in our city. And he says it all started with AVANCE-Dallas.

Growing up in South Oak Cliff, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Dallas, Adan encountered serious challenges from his earliest years. Not only did he face the danger of street violence, but also endured the barrage of financial blows on his family.

But while these conditions most often trap kids in an economic and educational slump, Adan has emerged as a successful, up-and-coming star. How did he overcome these hurdles? His parents made a lasting impact on him and shaped his outlook on life—a central message instilled from our Parent-Child Program. His father’s work ethic inspired him, and his mother devoted herself to nurturing strong family and educational values in her children.

And the payoff is visible today. In 2011 Adan graduated as salutatorian and senior class president at W. H. Adamson High School, president of the Dallas ISD Teen School Board, chapter president of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), team captain of both his varsity soccer and cross country teams, 2011 Dallas Student of the Year, 2011 Junior Achievement of Dallas Student of the Year—and the list goes on. He has received numerous awards totaling over a million dollars in scholarships. He’s also a member of the USA National Collegiate Boxing Team, and he won both the 2008 Golden Gloves Boxing Regional Championship and the 2009 Dallas Golden Gloves tournament.

Today, Adan is a Junior at Georgetown University, and he is double-majoring in government and economics with a minor education, inquiry and justice. He aspires to make his family proud, to make a difference in the world, and one day to become the governor of Texas.

Adan is an inspiration to all who know him personally—and to many who don’t. He exhibits the greatest potential of what can come out of our early intervention program that equips parents to stick with it and get engaged in their children’s lives from cradle to college. Adan’s story shows that AVANCE-Dallas takes children heading toward poverty, delinquency, and crime and launches them to school and life success.

Avance is a wonderful program that's helping me to understand better the needs of my child, while at the same time he learns valuable stuff in the classroom. In general I can say I've had a great experience not only with the program but with the volunteers too, whom are always friendly and eager to help. I encourage any one who wants to participate and/or help this program is worth it.
